Secretly, my dad would LOVE to have a GRANDCHILD (or 2). I just got married 3 1/2 weeks ago. So this "gift" is out of the question for this year~!!

That is one of my wishes in life - that I get the chance to give a ''baby gift'' like a bib that says I love my Grandma or Grandpa for father''s day or christmas or a birthday. I think that would be the coolest way to make the announcement!

That''s actually sort of how my sister and BIL informed BOTH sets of parents that they were expecting #1. All 6 of them were getting together just before Thanksgiving, and they had little gifts for each of them that they had them open at the same time, so they both opened up "Happy Thanksgiving, Grandma and Grandpa" cards. Very cute

Driving into San Francisco to take him out to brunch. My sister is also doing the same. Brother is not because he lives in Boise, ID (hey I should send him to Winks since his wife doesn''t have a diamond).

My father doesn''t want material gifts since he has more than enough "stuff". Our gift to him is a visit from his two daughters.

Happy Father's day to all the fathers! This is what I ended up getting my men. For my dad, stuck with the tried and true, got him gift certificates to his favorite restaruant...Texas Roadhouse. I suspect that's where I'll be taking him for dinner today, too.

For my hubby, I ordered new shades for our bedroom windows. I know that sounds lame, but he's had to work a few night shifts in the ER lately, and he's been having trouble sleeping during the day. Our house is VERY bright and gets lots of sunlight. We haven't lived here all that long, and I haven't gotten around to doing much about the window treatments yet. He was actually thrilled with his gift (even though he won't actually *get* it for about two weeks). I ended up choosing the pleated cellular shades in a woven fabric in a color called "tumbleweed" which is kind of a light creamy beige color. It matches the paint color on our walls which is "bison beige" and our carpet color, which is called "biscotti". I'm all into beige right now...lol.

The kids and I went shopping for their daddy the other night, and I let them pick out some gifts for him as well. They ended up giving him a super soft body pillow covered in a faux suede material (in a beige color of course!), one of those wrap around towels that has velcro for him to put around his waist when he gets out of the shower, and a HUGE purple towel for him to use at the pool. He always ends up with the Rug Rats beach towel or the Little Mermaid towel, and he hates that...lol. I did make sure that he knew that the purple towel and the wrap towel thingy would be perfect to use IF WE HAD A HOT TUB!

We gave him the gifts when he got home from work last night, because he had to leave at 5:30 this morning to go back and work the early shift. I'm sure he'll be tired when he comes home tonight. He's had a rough week working 3 night shifts and three early shifts. He makes good money, but he earns every penny! I just called him to wish him Happy Father's day, because I was still too sleepy to do more than open one eye and kiss him good bye when he left this morning.
