WOO HOO !!!! Football season is finally here. A reason to live !!! /idealbb/images/smilies/appl.gif

Of course my Cowboys did not start this season with a bang. First our QB gets cut for being a bad boy and we lose our first game. I know it doesn''t count but still /idealbb/images/smilies/8.gif. Not only did we lose but got our butts kicked by our local team.....the Houston Texans. What shame !!! I do like the Texans but not when they are playing my boys. I didn''t hear the end of it from my brother in law and my daughter. I went thru two days of torture and I''m sure there''s more to come. My daughter has wall to wall pictures of David Carr. I must admit he is a cutie...tee hee. Of course.... I can''t complain because I still have pictures of Troy Aikman...ha ha ha. Next week the cowboys play my b/f''s team on my birthday no less. His team won this weekend...so I will endure even more torture. Keeping my fingers crossed that his team loses and loses BIG !!!! /idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif

Hey Denise. I'm from the DC area, so you know what that means: Skins fan. But alas, Hubby is a Dallas fun. Boy it gets loud in our house when they meet up.
I enjoy a good game.

So glad you started this thread, Denise!
Preseason is all about figuring out who to cut and who to keep so there's no need to worry about the recent Cowboy loss (our time to gloat will come). There are so many new starters in both the ofense and defense for the Cowboys they need to get their butts in gear and start playing as a team. Hopefully Parcells will start to focus on key players rather than continue to play everyone to see what they've got. If he does that next week you'll have a great birthday victory!

OOOOOOOOOh you poor thing !!!! I've had friends that were Skins fans. Not fun when they play each other. Talk about torture !!! Does he put on the full gear, yell and scream at the T.V. like I do ???? My b/f hates it when I do the victory dance....but of course I REALLY hate it when he does it.

I used to really like the Cowboys. I had season tickets when I lived in Dallas in the early 90's. They were terrible when I was first there and then winning the Superbowl when I moved away. I then lived in Wisconson and became a Packers fan and then they won the Superbowl. I now live in Kentucky and still like both teams.

He doesn't get all dressed up in gear but there is an extreme amount of shouting going on. (and that's before the TV gets turned on

Want to move to San Diego so the Chargers can win a few games?
2.gif

It would take a lot more than me moving there to help them win.

I live close to Cincinnati and it hasn't helped the Bengals.

The Chargers suck so badly it hurts to go to the games. But, I love football so I go anyway!

BTW, how's the new Bengals stadium? My brother is going to med school at UC (my family is from Cincinnati and my grandpa taught in the medical school for over 50 years) and has therefore become a Reds and Bengals fan. He says he likes the new stadiums (they're still new to us!)

Ugggg, you guys are driving me nuts. I had NFL Sunday Ticket last year and didn't watch it. Had to let it go this year. No sitting in front of the TV on Sundays with little ones running around.

Noobie~
It's all about TiVo and making sure you don't have jerk friends who tell you the score before you can watch (and avoiding the news)! How old are your babies?

E-A-G-L-E-S

Why not "educate" the little ones now on the fine art of Football. Let em' watch with you.

They're 2 and a half and 6 months, both boys with lots of energy. Too young to teach them football. Tivo, got it, a great idea, but I can't even find time to watch the stuff I Tivo. In fact I built a beautiful home theater with a 110" screen and we don't use it as much as we would like.

However, Super Bowl in HDTV on a 110" screen..... man what a sight. I can't wait.

Wonka, I knew there was a reason why I liked you~!
naughty.gif
GO EAGLES~!~!~!~! McNabb is the man~!

The perfect ages! You're so lucky! I now understand why you don't have time for TiVo though--I watch my friends' kids all the time because I'm at home doing my dissertation and therefore "available". It's crazy to think you have such an amazing system going to waste though! At least you'll have the Super Bowl!!!!

The new stadium is pretty nice. The upper deck seating is pretty uncomfortable. But it's still a lot better than the old stadium.

SuperBowl Party at Noobie's!!!
I'll bring the chips/dip, wings and Margharitas!

Okay---can't let this thread continue without commenting on Cincinnati (MY HOME TOWN--WOO HOO). I grew up worshiping the "Big Red Machine" and saw the Bengals "born" in Riverfront. Whenever I fly home...I am amazed at how majestic the two brand new stadiums look on the banks of the Ohio River. Don't care much about football (sorry Denise, my co-worker!) but I do love to talk about Cincinnati .....in fact, my little sis is here visiting from home right now! I've been to a couple of Texan games but do not understand much about it. I guess Denise will have to give me some lessons! Anyway.....GO BENGALS and GO TEXANS (except when they play the Bengals!)

Sure, everyone's welcome! Admission is only a mere half carat IF D diamond per person. A true bargain.

Noobie...you are too funny !!! How about I babysit the kids so you can watch football. Kids love me. And it's never too early for football

True That!

If I have to bring a diamond then I'm definitely not bringing the wings!

Can you say "The Texans Rock"...sure you can !
Beyond stating the obvious about the team as a whole
Carr is an absolute doll with those long locks of his
appl.gif

I'm gonna cry when he and his dad cut their hair.

I can't afford season tickets, but I can sure make time to be at the tailgate parties. Those are almost as fun as being in the stadium and the beer is a LOT cheaper (it's in the back of our truck in a cooler, now that's cheap!). There is this one guy that parks near my neighbors (they have season tickets and reserved parking) and he always has a big screen tv set up in the parking lot. It's great...the whole time my friends are trudging in and out of the stadium (with nothing to drink, hehe) the party is still rockin in the parking lot.

I LOVE FOOTBALL SEASON !!!

Denise, you can come anytime. I'll waive the admission fee!

Sevens, no wings needed, just the diamond. I figure I could always trade the players the diamond for some wings. Wait, a half carat may be too smalll for their ear studs.

Well Noobie...aren't you a sweetie. I hate to fly and would rather eat glass but........to watch the Super Bowl on a huuuuuuumungo bling blang T.V. ... I'm there w/ wings, chips, dips and toys for the kiddies in hand. It really doesn't matter who is playing. I know Dallas won't be there.
cry.gif
But who cares.........It's just the thrill of it all !!!!

Well, good news for me and my honey....a seat license for the 49ers came available this year (on waiting list for 5)
bad news...boy is this going to be a 'rebuilding' year. But, a license is a license, and at least we'll have tickets for when they get good again.....sigh

Jen,

I remember the days when the niners were great just like the cowboys. The niners will be great again !!!! I miss seeing Steve Young and Jerry Rice playing together. Of course Jerry Rice now plays for the Raiders....my b/f's team..ick

Denise-

That is what we are counting on! We figure if we toughit out for the losing seasons, then when we start to win we will be sitting pretty.

I cannot begin to tell you how upsetting it was to see jerry Rice go to the dread Pirates. There is a very distinct Raider nation around here...and they love to make fun of the wine drinking, hors d'ouevres eating niner fans. Blech....

Hopefully our teams will pick it up this year a bit...then we can get back to some good old Niner/Cowboy friendly rivalry!
