Now I really did it :((

Hi Missy,

Sorry that you are having a headache too today, hope we both get rid of it soon, perhaps just try to relax as much as you can. It is the weather I am sure but also work having been exhausting.

Well, that is why I use the semi permanent polish, I hated doing my nails with normal polish as it took forever to do and dry and would chip in a day or two. I like having what I have now because I can wear that for two weeks and not have to worry about it. I only need to have it redone because at the base as my nails grow that shows. These actually seem to strenghten my own nails too because they protect them. But what works for one person may not for another.

Have I told you I have been lash extension free for about two weeks now? I am doing surprisingly well without them, I liked how pretty they were but my eye area is only starting to recover now and some of the damage and lines may take a long time to go away if ever, those allergies were horrid and besides I hated the feeling of having them on and them falling out in chunks. I just got a Loreal mascara I think they call it False Lash Butterfly over here and that actually works well for me as it does not irritate, most do. I do not get big chunks with it that I want to tear off either. I bought waterproof and it works. No, I am not as pretty as I was with extensions but it was most definitely not worth it. Not sure they have a mascara thread here that I could read but honestly most high end mascaras were terrible for me before.

As far as ultrasonics go as I said I use the simple and cheap ones, what I just got now is Heli. I had something else before that was even cheaper and my mom got it at a flea market and that one worked wonderful but it finally broke. This one works quite well too. I have had problems with a lot of them as well but toothbrushes I had some bad luck with too before, I attempted to clean the bracelet of my Deco watch and knocked a stone right out. Antiques are tough, they better be left alone for the most part unless you are checking the settings right before and fixing any problems. But you do not have micropave in your ring so anything will work. Just do what works for you of course. I just cannot stand dirty diamonds or jewelry so I am a clean freak.:)))

Hi NIRDIS! I'm afraid I'm terribly behind but I'll try to catch up as best I can -

Missy, wow, I can't believe it's been 9 months! I am just so happy about how well you have recovered, I really am. You have made it through like a champ, I honestly don't know if I could have done as well as you have. I'm still browsing around, looking at rings - seriously, if money was no object I'd just buy them all! If you guys don't mind, maybe I'll post a few that have caught my eye, just for fun. I'm beginning to realize I really like cocktail rings, d'oh! I just wanted to mention I've been using something called Pink Armor as a base coat on my nails, and on the box it says it prevents nails from yellowing. Who the heck knows it that's true, but it might be worth a try. Fingers crossed you like the new paint color!

Kristy, for a ring that came out of nowhere, it's pretty nice! :D I'm just kidding, seriously I adore it. The filigree and metal work is just gorgeous and I love the double bezel, great for finger coverage. A PS'er has a similar style as her ering and I've always admired it. I'm really glad your mother gave it to you. It's great when people pleasantly surprise us, isn't it? And the band is fabulous! Wow, what a great find, auctions are something to think about. Im really glad your mother gave it to you. And woo-yoo on Jimmianne's gift! How nice, your pear ring will love it's new home. Those crystals sound like so much fun! Like uncovering a hidden treasure, I'll be they're beautiful. I don't know much about gems, but I am fascinated by them - the various colors of different stones just mesmerizes me. Things are going ok with your spess ring, right? I was picking up that there might be a slight issue.

Tourmaline, so great you and your kids had fun putting the eggs together! Your son and his buddies will get such a kick out of it. I miss my kids being little (mine are almost 26 :errrr: and 22). I'm so sorry to read about your struggle, a difficult and disappointing time for you and dh. Life throws us all sorts of curveballs, doesn't it? Best wishes to you as you move forward, sending thoughts of peace and well-being to you.

Marcy, thank you again for your comments re settling estates. Family dynamics can complicate the whole thing, can't it? My situation is similar to yours, I'm the one that is caught in the middle of the other siblings. I often wonder why things in general have to be as complicated as they are. I agree with you that it's a stressful time to begin with, and being prepared helps. My mother's dementia makes her unable to assist me so I have to piece things together myself. Luckily my brother does her taxes so he has a good idea of her finances and she doesn't have many assets. Sounds like you have good evidence to prove you weren't involved in an accident, how annoying you even have to deal with this. Your meals always sound so good! We got into a bad habit of doing a lot of take-out, and I'm trying to cook more often. I don't mind the actual cooking but the clean-up is a drag. :cheeky: Hope you're feeling ok, I know it's been a somewhat rough time for you, (((hugs)))

Jimmianne, I forget if I already said this, but congratulations on your gorgeous OEC! I'm so glad you found the one, and I have really enjoyed following your journey and now I'm excited about you finding a setting. Please keep posting about it, it's fun to live vicariously through you. And wow, the press on nails look great, how fun is that! The ring box gift is just so incredibly sweet and thoughtful of you.

Ovi, I'm sorry your friend's visit fell through, sounds like you were looking forward to it - hopefully you can reschedule another get-together soon. You sound like you had a stressful week, maybe a weekend of rest will do you some good. Thank you for the nice words Ovi, as you have said, we have to find a little joy and fun where we can so I try lol. I was so sorry to read about your mother and Sapphie not feeling well - I hope both are doing a little better now.

Phanie, I'm so sorry to hear you are in pain, sending lots of healing dust to you and I hope you are doing better soon. Good luck with getting the massage approved. Love your sweet kitten, he's adorable. I hope your beautiful ring is back with you soon. How great you have your mom's ering to wear in the meantime, it looks amazing and I would love to see another pic. :halo:

Calliecake, very glad your friend found a dress, yay! Shopping for baby clothes sounds like fun, they are just so cute. Thanks to you, and everyone else, for asking about my mother, she's doing ok. I don't know, seems a bit more confused than usual and not getting around as well as she was, she falls occasionally and thank goodness hasn't gotten hurt. A little depressing to realize things most likely will get worse but looking into the future is stressing me out so I'm taking one day at a time. Oh, and at the risk of TMI constipation seems to be an issue right now. But overall things are manageable and no serious problems at this point so we're just plugging along. Anything special going on for you this weekend? Dh, the kids, and I are going out to eat on Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that.

Hope everyone is good and having a great day!

eta - Calliecake, I think we posted at the same time! :wavey:

Hi Girls, I'm jumping in as I have not caught up in everything so please forgive me if I miss something

Missy, I hope you like your new paint color. My husband made me paint the different colors on the wall before I chose the color and told me I better be sure because it was costing a fortunate. I liked everything but one room. He told me I could have them come back and repaint. He was just relieved i didn't hate the whole house paint colors. It was stressful because I'm picky. Do you know how lucky you are to have found Julio? Now I have to look for a dress for myself to wear to these weddings. We have one in May and one in July to attend. They are both out of town so the whole weekend is taken up for them. I also have 2 bridal and 3 baby showers to attend. It's going to be a busy summer. I wish this stuff was more spread out. Everything always seems to happen during the same time frame.

Jimmianne, Joy is a perfect name for your beauty! Is that the name you are sticking with? I was very touched when you said you were thinking of putting NIRDI inside your ring. I hope you know how loved you are here! I can not get over how real those nails look. I can't wait to tell my niece about them. She can't wear them for work but they would be the perfect solution for weekends. I get my nails done every other week. I'm haven't seen my own nails in 15 years. The only reason I get them done is because my own won't grow and break down low all the time. I think the nails make my rings look prettier on my old ugly hands. I get the gel polish that stays looking nice.

OV, I'm sorry your girlfriends had to cancel. You did say a few days ago that you were afraid that might happen. Did you plan to reschedule for next week or is that still up in the air? I'm sure you not feeling well from being wiped out after the week you had. It was emotionally draining which can leave you exhausted. Get some rest and take good care of yourself this weekend so you are ready to go if they come next weekend. How are you mom and Sapphie doing? Hugs honey, I hope you feel better. I will check in on you later today.

Junebug, where are you? We miss you!!

Phanieis, I hope your pain meds are helping and you are feeling better today!

LLJsmom, I hope you are doing well! I miss you!!!

Callie, yes, it's official.
This was my Christmas card from my daughter. [minus diamond]
Also my dog's name is Isobel Joy : )
A lot of Joy!

joy_0.jpg

Wow, that is so cool, Jimmianne, does your daughter live close and do you see her a lot? I wrote to you about Joy on your other thread as well.

Callie it is really very nice to hear from you, have you had a very busy week? I missed you. Do email me when you have the time, that will be great. Yes, yesterday stressed me out a lot and I cannot say I do not feel scared and somewhat numb about everything. Trying to keep myself busy and will be working this weekend, so many plans. I do not mind my friends are not coming this weekend, yes we have plans for next weekend but I know my friend, it may become the weekend after next.:)))

Junebug thanks for thinking about me. Just got interrupted with a call from my mom, her tests are fine, big relief. They think it is her autoimmune problem making her sick. Of course do share pix with us, we would love to have some bling excitement!

Now I am totally confused about Kristie's rings, I may have confused something, I thought her diamond ring came from auction and I hope she did not sell her pear ring! What have I missed here or what am I misunderstanding, I feel so embarrassed, this thread moves so fast that sometimes we can easily lose track.

Hope you girls are all preparing for a lovely weekend. I am just now feeling the exhaustion from everything. Yes, it is better that I get to relax for one weekend.

I missed that Jimmianne is considering putting NIRDIS inside her ring! That is very touching and so very sweet.

Ovi, SO glad to hear about your mother's test results! I hope she's feeling better very soon.

Calliecake, you're right, events always seem to occur very close to each other!

Ok, here are some rings that have caught my eye. My criteria was that when I looked at them my first thought was "Ooooh pretty!" Just posting these for fun. Nothing is really making me say "this is the one". Yellow diamonds are noticeably absent lol - just can't seem to find anything on the secondary market, at least on the sites I'm looking. Well, I found a few but they are way over budget and I wasn't that crazy about them anyway. I really think I'll probably stick with DBL is I decide to go for a yellow diamond ring.

Junebug, I love that pink ring! and also the blue in the post before! but the pink especially. :appl:

Hi thank you all for your kind words. It helps!
It has been such a horrible week.
My 10 year old son got a HIB at school for some retaliory reason (more on that later and it is giving so much anger and anxiety).
Pain is better as I just got my chiro care ( my chiro is 4 minutes from my house!).
Planning to work monday. Yippee, cabin fever is getting to me.
Otherwise For Junebug and all of you.
My 3 stone ering with my hubs's great aunt OMC wonky center and my mom's ering( late 60's, French).
Too much side by side or who cares?
(I feel it is too much but I love it because I have both my hubs and my mom on my left hand that way!)
Also why do my pics post updide down or rotated when they look fine when I load them?

Good afternoon girls!

Junebug, ooh that's a tough one. I absolutely love cocktail rings too! These rings are all so different so it's tough to pick just one but the light blue one (is that aquamarine?) is my favorite I think. I like the pink one too and also the sapphire ring as well though.

Thanks for the info about your base coat Pink Armor. I will check that out. I also think wearing nail polish is too high maintenance for me especially since I cannot deal with the chipping and might be OCD about maintaining perfect nail polish. LOL just today Greg said to me I am the opposite of OCD because I just drop mail on the dining room table and leave it there and am slightly disorganized overall LOL. But I think with some (many?) things I can be OCD at times. It just depends.

Regarding my injury and recovery thank you so much Junebug and honestly I could not have done it as well without you guys. Seriously you all got me through and made it so much easier to bear. I know you would have handled it just as well if not better. You are a strong woman and handle so much with grace and good humor and I admire that very much. So don't sell yourself short because you are stronger than you even realize I think.

Callie, we usually do the same re paint colors. Every color we have in our co-op was handpicked by me and turned out perfectly. We painted large areas of the wall and lived with it during different times of day to make sure we loved it. Worked out perfectly. But we don't have that same luxury at the beach house as I don't have the time or patience to paint large sections there and see how it is during different times of day and weather i.e. sunny, cloudy etc as we are really not there enough right now. We painted large pieces of foam board that we bought at the paint store and took a chance that it would look similar on the beach house walls and well the Living Room color didn't work out the first time so let's hope second time's the charm! I agree we are lucky to have Julio. He sort of came with the house haha.

As for your weddings are the same people attending both summer weddings? If not would you wear the same dress or no? I would no problem if different people would be at both affairs. It's fun to have weddings to go to but I agree too many in a close period of time can be too much especially since you are traveling to both. I know you will have fun though and look beautiful. Please keep us posted as to what you are going to wear and what bling you are planning on wearing too. That is a lot of bridal and baby showers in a short period of time however. OMG.

Ovi, I am so relieved for you and your mom. YAY for the tests all being normal! Great news!
How is your headache now? I hope you are feeling better and in a better mood especially with the good news you just got. Thanks for the ultrasonic info. IDK seems like too much work. I really am the opposite of OCD I guess haha.

I am glad you are giving the lash extensions a rest. I don't think they agree with you and I would not start them again. Find a good mascara and I am sure you look beautiful without them! I'm not much help in the makeup department sorry. When I wear mascara I like Maybelline Full and Soft (not the waterproof one as anything waterproof on the lashes is too harsh IMO).

Phanie, I am so glad you are feeling better and the pain is less. Woohoo for Chiropractors who know what they are doing! I am sorry about what happened at school with your son. I don't know what HIB is but I hope everything gets resolved to your satisfaction.

I love those rings. Definitely not too much side by side. I love all that history together. Beautiful.

Jimmianne, I love Joy's name and spirit and sassy personality. It's the perfect name for her. :appl:

Hello NIRDIs!

Callie, Marty was in Brazil during the big riots a few years ago and had to walk about 4 miles through protesters towing his luggage and breifcase to get to the airport. Some of them pointed at airplanes and then shock their heads and laughed. He also had someone keep his credit card information and put purchases on it at auto parts stores. I know there are some really bad areas there. I am glad your nephew and the guy from work didn't have any problems when they went there. Good idea to give your husband something to work for; sparkly diamonds. I'll try that with Marty. You do have a busy summer.

Missy, I also type up my long posts in Word or notepad so I have it. It's so frustrating to lose a long post. Thanks for asking how I am. I have been a little down with the finality of finishing up the estate. I finished everything today so hopefully I will be feeling better soon. After closing the last checking account, mailing my sisters their checks I actually went to the cemetary and told my parents if you come back looking for your stuff or money you're out of luck. Just kind of wanted to go there. Thanks for the hugs. Marty likes to meet for lunch just to get out of the house. I think it's such a switch for him; between traveling and being home. When he's on the road he goes to an office, meets people and eats out late at night. When he's home he doesn't see anyone and we eat early. I hope the car accident is resolved soon too. I hope your headache gets better. 9 months? Wow; you've really come a long, long way since your accident.

Jimmianne, I will have to try those stick on nails. Sounds great to me. I see you have on one of your sapphire bands in the picture. Sweet. Dawn is my favorite go to ring cleaner too. It works great. I love the name Joy for your beautiful OEC. Good choice. Have fun at breakfast.

Ovi, i hate to hear your friend cancelled for this weekend. I hope you do something else fun or just relax at home. Thanks for all the tips and ideas on cleaning jewelry. I had even inexpensive US cleaners knock stones out or loose and Marty of course got to tell me "I told you so" on using an US too much. Soapy water always works well for me. My steam cleaner (Jewel Jet) does a great job too. I am delighted to hear your mom's test went well.

Junebug, post links away. I love to help people spend their money on jewelry. I am glad to help and answer any questions I can. There are times when both my sisters just plain need smacked. I'm not shy either; I'd probably warn them - you are about to be smacked. Knock it off. I know times like that everyone is highly emotional but acting like a jackwagon isn't helping anyone. It will help your brother knows a lot about your mom's finances then. When my dad and I sat down in about 6 weeks before he died I had printed out a form I found online and even had stuff for info he'd want included in his obituary. That was quite helpful. My parents had prepaid and preplanned their funerals. I think we'll have pretty solid proof we weren't in California on the day we were in an alleged accident so hopefully other than the hassle that will turn out okay. When Marty worked his old job and we'd get home late we did a lot of fast food or take outs. I am a bit OCD about dirtying dishes and the countertops. I put freezer paper on the countertops to catch messes then just throw the paper away, I use the non-stick aluminum foil in pans and baking sheets so I don't have to wash them. I use the liner bags for the crock pot. Anything to make my dishes go more quickly. Thanks for thinking of me. I appreciate it. I am thinking of you all the time because I understand how hard this if for you too. Hugs to you!

Phanie, I am sorry you had a horrible week. I hate to hear your son had a problem at school. That's great the chiropractor helped. I am sure you'll enjoy going to work just to get out for a change. Take pain meds before you go though (or at least ones that don't knock you out). I think that's great your 3 stone ring has diamonds from your DH's great aunt and your mom.

I went to the bank before 11 and closed the last checking account from my parent's estate. I split the remaining little bit of cash 3 ways rather 4 and sent the checks off to my 2 sisters. I did tell the lady at the bank about that and she thought it was funny. Then I mailed the checks, deposited mine and went to the cemetary. Just thought I wanted to go there and tell my parents grave it's all finished. Kind of sad but I feel relieved too. If medical bills show up for my mom I guess I'll hit the sisters up for some money but it's been since August of 2013 so hopefully there aren't any out there. I did receive some bills about a year later last summer.

I told Marty I wanted a glass of Asti Spumanti tonight.

Have a great day and wonderful weekend.
Marcy

Ooh and aw Junebug, I love the first three rings but all three are gorgeous. I am not normally a ruby person but that first ring with its cushion ruby is so delicious. I thought the light bluish was a paraiba but gorgeous nevertheless, it would be a greenish blue acqua I guess, hard to tell this way. All are beauties. Take your time searching if you like and have tons of fun, in the meantime share with us as well so we can have tons of fun too.:)))

Phanie that ring on your middle finger is precious, I totally love it. I do not think it is necessarily too much, it depends on what appeals to you, many girls wear several rings on one hand whether they are matchy or not. I normally wear one ring per hand but I actually like your combo quite a bit. Thanks for showing them to us.

I think someone has just posted so I better go and check it out.:))) Aha I see it was Marcy. Marcy, I am so sorry about this finality, they do always hit hard but then you can start the healing process and it will eventually be better that you are done with finalizing it. You post really touched me. Have your Asti Spumanti, I will have some wine with you so we can have a GTG online.:))) I hope I can be there for you. You are such a great friend. Give those teddies some hugs and of course Marty will give you one.

Missy thanks for the recs. I normally dislike waterproof and almost never use it. The reason I bought it this time was because I was going to the spa weekend, I needed waterproof there. Actually, while most are really irritating to me and just sort of peel off in chunks, I have had a really good experience with this Loreal. Funny as I never use drugstore brand skincare or makeup but in mascaras they have worked better on me. The only other exception is a great European drugstore we have here where they have this fabulous Alverde organic skincare and I so love that. So far I have been crazy about their body oils and body care, body splashes, lotion, deo but since I really love them I may try their facial skincare as well, it would certainly be cheaper than La Mer.:))) I am in love with their wild rose line and rose tends to be great for my skin and that seems to be really good for irritations, rosacea, etc., we shall see, the product is not so expensive so I may go right ahead, if it does not work I will gift it to my mom like the other sets I have waiting at home, those were a real waste of money.

Marcy, you went to the cemetery after closing out the estate. I'm sure that was difficult. I hope you have the BOTTLE of Asti :loopy: You were a trooper to handle the estate and your sisters and it was the last thing you could do for your parents. Its the end of an era for sure.

Missy, love that Bonham's link! I like Bonham's, they occasionally are at Tucson with the multimillion dollar dinos. They are always polite to the looky loos and they do a wonderful display. My godmother had Bonham's appraise her jewelry once, they did a very nice job for her. That was in San Francisco.

Ovi, the pear diamond ring, that is my 'wedding' ring and I still have it :sun: The filigree soli is an 'extra' ring I have in my jewelry box, I wore it daily before I had the pear ring. The band is just on here because I wanted to show an example of what I bought at auction for almost nothing moneywise---I wore it with the filigree ring. They aren't the same era/style but the looked pretty good together! I was thinking of pulling the half-carat diamond out of the filigree ring, its a super fiery little effer, and putting in a contemporary setting but now that I've been hanging with Missy and everyone I like these vintage and antique looks. I'll keep it where it is.

Junebug, I was plowing through rings at Levy's Fine Jewelry website and I saw what I thought was a lovely yellow diamond ring but their descriptions are like 3 words; they like people to call them. Gem Gossip loves them, btw, and I like her so if she likes Levy's I bet they are good. Their pictures suck, the pics Gem Gossip Girl takes of their inventory show wonderful pieces in amazing condition. Let me see if I can get a link to the yellow diamond ring.

Regarding the rings you posted, may I ask what stone the blue one is? Is the top ring a ruby or a spinel? There are some super choices there. If there is a return policy you are protected that way. I say do this like Jimmianne does, get the stone or ring in your hand and in your house/light and if it blows your hair back, SOLD. If no hair blown back, RETURN!

Phanie, I like those rings together. More is MORE, baby! I hope you're feeling better today. Its hard, handling the pain levels.

NIRDIs, I'm getting on my soapbox:

No commercial manicures/pedicures.

So many patients where I worked had hepatitis from manicures, fungal disease that could not be cured but only beat back a little, and bacterial infections. We had many patients lose fingers, parts of finger, same for toes.

Just don't risk it. Don't do it.

Some states require operators to use autoclaves and some only require soaks in germicidal solution. Here is the problem:
1. Autoclaves get old and stop sterilizing the tools. They need to be replaced, they need to be serviced and recalibrated, and if someone at your beauty place is lazy or unaware or cheap, here comes your disease transmission.
2. Germicidal solution. It has to be super strong and the tools have to soak for a complete period of time; AND it only kills a few germs, not viruses and not most bacteria. You are counting on the operator to use it correctly and even then, the protection is very very incomplete. Its like using a pea shooter against an AK-47.

Hepatitis C? Pretty nasty stuff. Yes its curable but the interferon to do this is extremely hard to tolerate. Fungal and bacterial disease with amputation and disfigurement? You don't want that.

Do your own nails.

I have friends from Mayo Clinic who only have salons apply the nail polish that THEY bring in. All those dangerous germs/bacteria/fungus live in the polishes too so you don't want to share the nail polish. You don't want your feet in their basin either for that matter.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

[attachment=0]_27900.jpg[/attachmb]This one OMG...junebug
Where is it?
So , just so you know where I am coming from , my hubs told me that whatever money the settlement for my car accident will be , I can do whatever I want with.
True PSer that I am now, all I could think of was" yes! Bling money!" My first idea after a week was a nice antique pear in an askew pendant.
Based on me going to to the ER via ambulance and all the medical care needed and not working for 3 weeks, I think I should be able to get that from Grace.
I was rear ended (highway and on the bridge towards the city) and after driving off the site of the accident for a minute or two I started vomiting, then could not remember my date of birth nor my work phone number. Scary since I had been an ICU/CCU nurse for 15 years; those were red flags to me.
Anyway, I just hope to get better soon and recover all my neck/back/arms movements so I can go back to work and my normal self.
I'm currently getting massage and accupuncture once a week, started chiropractic care too a week ago (needed to find someone who would not manipulate too forcefully on me) and pain meds. Any other thing that I should be doing to help? Let me know.
Aha, I am not the only one who like my mom's big ering, the setting is huge my middle finger is a 7.5 size and you see the coverage!

Testing for upload of avatar pic, thank you

Damn! It didn't work! I uploaded SOMEWHERE here.

Anyone remember where to do this?

GOT IT! Nothing like checking the FAQs for quick help :-)

Started with an easy one.

I have to get a good diamond pic for my avatar. I think I'll switch out occasionally.

Azstonie - did it work the way you wanted? I think I see a new avatar for you.

Yes indeedy, PonieGirl and Most Generous NIRDI!

But it got squished up. I need to get a pic or two that would really work within the small space.

Kristie, wow, that is scary, thanks for the heads up! That was good to know. Yes, no worries, I do remember your filigree ring is from an auction, we have talked about that and I wrote here too about auctions, I did not think I confused that now  it just confused me when Junebug talked about your filigree having been your mom's ring and also that the pear was gifted away, I am sure these were references to something else that I missed. It can be a problem with fast moving threads. I absolutely adore your pear ring  and the filigree ring is gorgeous too. I think you could wear both at the same time, one on each hand and yes you could also wear the band with the filigree, they were nice together.

Phanie, wow, that is scary. I too was rear ended once while living in CA and have had neck problems ever since, they ordered PT but besides that nothing happened to me thankfully, only the car was totalled, well, the person that rear ended me pushed me into the car in front of me also. I guess I was lucky but I am really sorry that you have had such problems. You deserve some bling treatment for sure and what you are dreaming of sounds delish, hope you will share it soon.

I guess I was lucky but I am really sorry that you have had such problems. You deserve some bling treatment for sure and what you are dreaming of sounds delish, hope you will share it soon.

Ovi, this is the filigree ring. ( It was found in the 1970s on the floor of my grandparent's bedroom. Neither one of them knew the ring or knew how it got there. My mom wound up with it, and then I asked her if I could have it/she never wore it.) I still have this.

This is the band I bought at a Christie's auction, after the auction was over/it didn't sell, bought it by making offer to the jeweler.

A bad pic of the pear ring. I still own this. Its my "wedding" ring :D

Ok, well I am really embarrassed now  I should go into hiding, it tells me how tired I was when I read those posts. At least you know and I know too which ring we are talking about when we are emailing.:))) That was completely clear. There it is easy to know what pix I am responding to but here I lose track I feel sometimes. I must have been dead tired and I had such a busy week too on top of that with no energy or time really to read the NIRDI thread but I wanted to so badly. So I apologize. I do love both the band and the filigree ring with the diamond. Thanks for clarifying that my friend. Since I am getting tired as it is very late here I better go to bed soon and respond to everything else tomorrow.

Yes, the pear ring. I will go back to the reference where it was mentioned in the thread.

I wish I had the fortune to ever find a diamond ring like that. :o

Your new avatar is awesome. You did great, I tend to have problems with technical things sometimes too. :appl:

:wavey:

No worries, Ovi, and sweet dreams!!!! Now when we chat about which ring, you'll know

Yes, in email it is easier because I can respond to the email which contains the photo of any given gem or ring. That is also why I say when I am so busy it is easier to communicate via email. But this thread is fun as it is, fast moving and full of action. I will post again tomorrow. Love to all of you.

Missy, I hear you on the nail polish, it's really annoying when it starts chipping. I'm just on a polish kick for now and I kind of like doing them, but the novelty will wear off soon. The nails on my left hand always start chipping first, and I just repair those few and then don't have to worry about doing both hands for a while. I really like the blue stone ring too, it's a blue zircon and an antique. I guess halos have been around longer than I thought hehe! It's pretty reasonably priced too, at least for the jewelry world. Thank you for your kind words, it really helps to read them - sometimes I don't feel very strong but I will try my best to put my big girl pants on when I have to.

Dh surprised me tonight by saying he really doesn't like rubies! But he likes emeralds - Who knew? :D I guess even after many years there are still things to learn about a person!

Jimmianne, I like the pink ring too, I've had my eye on it for a while - it's a sapphire and has a GIA report, which is nice.

Phanie, I love both your rings! Wow, your mom's ering is just beautiful, I love the hand presence it has! And I think wearing them together looks really nice and I don't think it's too much at all. I'm sorry to hear your son has an issue at school and I hope it's resolved quickly. I know how stressful it is. What a scary experience your accident was, so sorry you had to go through that. I hope your pain decreases as each day goes by, just try to take it as easy as you can this weekend. I really love that blue ring too, I found it on a site called first dibs and it's being sold by Oakgem.

Marcy, I have a feeling I'm going to have to tell my siblings to knock it off more than once too! :cheeky: It's great that your father was organized and worked with you on matters that can be somewhat difficult for people to discuss. It sounds like it was comforting to you to visit your parents' graves - I hope having the estate settled brings you some peace, even though I know it is also a sad time for you. And you know what? Have several glasses of asti spumanti! Thanks for the clean-up tips, I will use them all. The crock pot liner is a great idea, what a pain it is to wash that thing out.

Kristie, thanks for the info about manicures - I've switched to doing them myself, both because I got tired of going and because of things you mentioned - I actually find it kind of relaxing, I just surf the net while I wait for the coats to dry.

The top red stone is a rubellite tourmaline. The blue one is a blue zircon. The zircon looks like it could be an old cut, which is kind of cool. They are both antiques. I like the emerald one too - dang, why can't I just buy them all? :sun: I don't know, I just might have to give that blue zircon a try! Although the rubellite is my size, didn't we decide that was a sign it was meant to be?

I've been browsing around on Levy's website, I will keep my eyes open for the ring you saw!

Ovi, the color of the blue stone reminds me of a paraiba a little too, at least in the pic :D It's a blue zircon, which I think is a somewhat brittle stone, I'm wondering if it has some damage. Hard to tell from the pic.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing evening!

Junebug, I had the OMG PARAIBA thought myself regarding the blue stone. Its really pretty.

Hi Girls, Gosh I'm behind again.

Missy, What did you end up doing today. Are you going to the beach house to see if you like the color of the room you had painted? MDid your weather get colder. It was beautiful here today. I spent the whole afternoon shopping. Everyone was having good sales. I looked at dresses for the weddings and didn't find anything I love and dresses I was drawn toI already have a handful of dress that are almost identical. I'm seriously thinking of just wearing something I already have and buy fun more casual dresses with the money instead. I also found cute shoes. I have 7 things on hold until Sunday and bought a casual dress, a skirt and two tops. I need to save for an OEC! I also found out today I have yet another baby shower to attend.

OV, Wonderful news about you mom! You must be so relieved. Hopefully you will finally be able to get a good nights sleep tonight. I'm sure you are feeling like a weight has been lifted. I'm so happy you received good news.

Marcy, Hug, hug and more hugs. It sounds like you have had a very rough week. I sure hope you had more than one glass of that sparkling wine. Are you okay? I'm so glad you have Marty. Regarding your sisters, the older I get the more I realize almost all families have problems. It is just so hard when you are the one trying to keep everyone close. I've about given up. I doubt my brothers will ever have a relationship because there wives don't want them to have one. I can certainly understand how a knock to the head Is needed at times.
The stories I had heard from our security people were enough to scare the daylights out of you about Brazil. The guy I worked with refused any security people when he was there. It turned out fine but I would taken any help offered. We all thought he was crazy for not using them. I hope if you make comments to Marty about working to buy you diamonds he is more responsive than my husband was. He looked at me like I was crazy. My husband told me tonight that he may be traveling again soon. I just pray something doesn't come up where I have to go to theses wedding alone. The thought of driving 6 hours by myself and then having to turn around and drive another 6 hours home isn't sounding like fun to me.

Jimmianne, I love your beautiful diamonds name. It is perfect for her. What color ring box did chose for her? Has your daughter seen the ring? What were her thoughts. I could so relate to your friends reactions when you were discussing your diamond. I'm sure most of the world thinks we are crazy.

Junebug, I love the ring pictures. My favorites are the first one Rubellite and the Emerald ring the looks very much like the first one. Are these rings on 1st Dibs? They sure look familiar. They are all beautiful I don't think you can make a mistake with any of them. We were extremely grateful my FIL had everything written down as soon as he suspected he had Alzheimer's He even had a folder telling us where we could get the best deal on his cremation and what places to avoid becuase they were ripping people off. I also think becuase your brother has done your moms taxes that should make it easier. It a hard thing to deal with whether everything is in place or not.

Kristie, I love your grandmothers ring. It's beautiful. I'm so glad you decided not to take the diamond out of the setting, it really is stunning. Thank you posting pictures. I love your pear and am I always happy when I get to see a picture of that beauty.

Phanieis, I hope everything worked out with your son. I love the photos you posted of your rings. They are very pretty.

Good morning girls. It's a rainy dark morning here but at least it's not snowing.

Callie, ooh 7 things on hold haha. A girl after my own heart except I never have the self control to put things on hold and I just pull the trigger. I won't say I never return things but I rarely do and that is probably part of the reason I have clothes with tags on them still in my closets LOL.
Do spill about your new shoes please. :appl:

And yes, Save for an OEC!!! Be strong! :appl:
Don't buy the dresses that are almost identical to what you already have in your wardrobe. If you have something appropriate for the weddings already in your closet wear those.
Though a little retail clothing shopping won't impact on your future OEC purchase so enjoy but buy what you don't have already so at least it will be something new and exciting. :halo:

Not sure of our weekend plans as it is raining today so nothing outdoors unfortunately. Maybe trip tomorrow to the beach house not sure. I am very tired as I keep waking up around 3AM for the day and my skin is once again not cooperating. Trying not to feel down about it but honestly though I am fighting hard I am not winning that battle against feeling depressed about it again. I promised myself I wasn't going to go on about it and I'm not. Just wanted to vent a bit. Now I'm done.

What are your plans this weekend?

Marcy, I am sorry you are feeling sad and I completely understand. I am glad you finished doing the estate though and hopefully now you can start feeling better. Though I am sure stronger feelings of missing your parents will come in waves. You know, holidays, birthdays etc you will start missing them more and start feeling sad again but as time goes on the pain of them not being here will lessen though not go completely away. I think it was a great idea to go to the cemetery yesterday after you finished settling the estate to talk to them. And glad your sense of humor remains as always intact. Hope you and Marty enjoyed that Asti last night and had a restful night's sleep. (((Hugs))).

I love that you warn people about when they are going to get smacked. I do the same thing though my dh doesn't always pay heed to my warnings lol. Sometimes I think he likes to get smacked haha. Probably a little different than the situations with your sisters though. They are fortunate you were willing to do all the work and they hopefully appreciate it. I love your method for lessening your workload in cleaning up in the kitchen. I will share that with Greg since he does most of the kitchen tasks. Cooking and cleaning. I know I know I got very lucky with him. In many more ways than one. :appl:

Ovi, so have you made any alternate plans for this weekend? You must be feeling good after receiving that wonderful news about your mom so I imagine everything looks better now. I hope you find mascara that will make you forget about that invasive procedure you were doing to your lashes. You never answered my question (I know this thread goes so fast I miss so much stuff too and in fact perhaps I missed your answer haha) about your kitty in the states. Where is she and when do you hope to retrieve her? Do you have any pics you can share with us here. I would love to see her if you did.

Kristie, I love your rings. Thank you for sharing more pics. Oh I would so love to have more diamond cuts. I want a big fat antique pear with chunky facets and an elegant emerald cut diamond and an antique oval as my top 3 after the OEC. I doubt I will ever be able to get any of these however as of course I am such a size ho LOL so I guess I will just have to keep dreaming. Sigh. ::) Though you never know right? :Up_to_something:

I am glad you posted that PSA re professionally done manis and pedis. My BIL is a podiatrist and told me the very same thing years ago. It is scary and you really never know how well disinfected everything is. Especially that foot tub. That is almost impossible to disinfect thoroughly at the salon. Ladies, think of all the $$$ you will save per year if you do your manis/pedis at home. It's really not that hard. Get your dhs/SOs/friends to help. :appl:
And then use that extra $$$ for bling!!!

I love your new avatar pic Kristie. Remind me though what was your original pic? LOL I already forgot.

Junebug, Oh I should have guessed blue zircon. I LOVE blue zircons. If that ring is a decent price I would say GET it!!!! I really LOVE that ring. It is GORGEOUS. I am telling you if you don't want it I would love the link though I am sure it is WAY out of my price range and I am not in the market for another ring as I only wear my OEC and bands mainly. But that ring might sway me for sure.

Have I mentioned that I LOVE the blue zircon ring? :appl:

Hope you are continuing to feel better today Phanie. We seem to have lost contact with our Sarah who is also recuperating and I hope she is feeling better each day as well.

Jimmianne, any new setting ideas? It's difficult because there are so many great choices and I guess the first decision is solitaire or halo or something else and then you can start narrowing it down. Not easy though. Not easy at all. But fun. :appl:
