Hi everyone,

I am obsessed with PS poster Glueck's vintage ring. Specifically I love the setting...is this a ring I could possibly have a PS vendor re-create with a good result, or am I better off just trying to find an authentic vintage setting that's similar? I'm thinking something might get lost in translation if I try to re-create it. Anyone know where I might be able to find something that looks similar? Thanks so much for the help!!

Here's her ring  :

I would think that SingleStone and 23rd Street Jewelers could easily re-create the ring. However, they are both rather expensive so it might be more cost effective, not knowing your budget, to find something similar. It wouldn't hurt to get quotes to see what ball park you are looking at. `

Thank you so much for all the suggestions everyone!

I suspect finding a similar vintage ring will be cheaper than Single Stone, although they sure do lovely work!

I like Wink's setting too, although it's a little different than Glueck's.

That is a very common style, and depending how picky you are about quality, I have seen a number of cheap reproductions I can suggest from ebay seller DiamondZone. I also semi-regularly see similar styles in completed rings. I think it will cost much less to look for a true vintage piece. I would not bother considering custom.

I also would not attempt custom unless you had seen the exact ring you want already made. I think the ring on Cross Jewelers is a Van Craeynest, and that is what I was going to suggest. They make heirloom quality die struck and carved and chased rings from original dies 100 years old. But you pay for that craftsmanship. It surely is magnificent, though!

Thanks Dreamer, I think you're right. Will definitely check out DiamondZone, I've heard positive things about them.

Me, too!!!! If only I had unlimited money!

What do you think of this mount, does it look sort of similar to Glueck's in your opinion? I mean, I know there are differences, but...

It looks like it could hold a 6mm or so OEC.

I know their quality is definitely worth it though. If I didn't already have an e-ring, I would totally pay the money for VC! Such gorgeous, intricate mountings!

I tend to think this one has the stone sitting up higher than that one, but you can probably see if they show a side view. I don't love this one maybe because it doesn't have as much cut out in the design. I can see some cut outs on the side under the stone, though. It would just depend on how good the workmanship is on it, for me.

Glueks ring looks to be hand made with intricate foligree. Even in a vintage piece I would expect to pay more for that level of detail. So it all depends what you are after. The cast pieces from DZ cost about $300, whereas a true masterpiece of vintage hand forging would cost much more, even on ebay.

Yeah, finding one with that lacy, gorgeous filigree might prove difficult. Her ring is really a treasure.

Her ring is really gorgeous!!! I wish I had some advice to offer but I haven't built up any knowledge of vintage pieces yet. Have you looked at Day Cullen? I haven't bought from them but often admire their pieces.

I have seen a fair number of vintage pieces, and I think the only way to find that lacy filigree is a true vintage piece. Do you have a budget in mind? I can look out for you!

It won't look just like Glueks ring, there really are no two alike with these old rings, but perhaps you can find one equally appealing to you! Being the owner of one hand made vintage piece, I can tell you in no uncertain terms -- once you go vintage, you never go back :halo: The craftsmanship is simply unparalleled.

Dreamer, this will just be for a RHR since I still adore my three stone e-ring. Budget for the mounting is not very high unfortunately, $1400 or less, so probably only WG for that budget. I'd be looking to buy around a 5 to 6 mm stone for it, so that is the size the mounting will need to accommodate. I'd rather buy the setting first, since that way I won't be stuck trying to find one to hold only a certain carat weight. Why are Diamond Zone's prices so cheap?! Their stuff looks very nice even if it's not 'true' vintage.

Hi Laila, that is one beautiful ring!

Maybe you can find something here:http://www.engagement-ring-mountings.com/artdeco_nouveau_ring_settings_0_79.html

or did you see this one:http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=2&id=22

Hey Laila,

I love the one you have originally posted, it is truly a beauty.

May you find the ring of your dreams very soon.

Laila, are you set on a large solitaire stone or would you also love a vintage ring almost identical, but with three small stones rather than a single larger one? I found something on ebay that is freaking amazng filigree work and reminds me a lot of this ring you love and the price is very low. Its an auction, so I don't want to post it widely here. Let me know if you are interested and I can post it for you though...

Dreamer, I'd be totally fine with three small stones instead of a large one! Can you maybe post the link, and then edit it later?
