Ocean/Sea Inspired Sapphire brainstorm

Gene's beautiful sapphire that I received last week is meant for something ocean inspired. I'll have plenty of time to brainstorm while I wait for gold prices to drop a bit.
  • DBTY necklace (gemstones undecided) with sapphire and pearl pendant
PearlNecklace.JPG
  • Bangle with waves. I'm loving the idea of having waves thread around the bangle similar to the octopus ring and come out slightly 3D like the antique earrings.
Waves.jpgOctopus.jpg
I had almost considered dropping the ocean inspired theme since most of the ocean inspired jewelry I've found has been less than inspiring, until I stumbled across the antique earrings that I had saved. The only reason I feel the need to plan ahead is due to colored stone supply- If I go with the bangle, I may want to sprinkle in some diamond, blue, silver or paraiba melee.

Any opinions or thoughts? Bangle or necklace? Would the melee make the bangle design too complicated and cluttered? What color melee should I go with?
Any other inspiration pictures?

I love your wave and bangle! I'm attaching a picture of a wave as what your idea made me think of. Use metal work to create the depth of a rising wave coming up from one side of the bangle, and the sapphire in the center of the crest, with tiny diamond melee where the crashing/white parts of the wave are, then metal work with just subtle curves wrapping around the bangle. And then, in between the "curves" wrapping around the bangle, you could set in sapphire melee- so the entire piece would have glitter like the sea being hit with sunlight.

Edited to attach a rudimentary drawing of what I'm trying to say.

Thanks @MissSarah for the response. I decided to pay around with photoshop to make sure that it wouldn't look absurd before deciding on sapphires and melee.

Let the crummy photoshop commence. Sorry for the blatant T&Co logos, they were the first bracelets that were positioned right at the camera. My gut instinct is that it would all be in WG, unless I'm able to find a custom jeweler that would be willing to work in Titanium (and WG?)
1. Waves pretty close together, sapphire centered between wavesBracletMock1_silver.jpg
2. Waves very close together, sapphire under wave
BracletMock.jpg
3. Waves stretched, sapphire centeredBracletMock2.jpg
4. Very close together waves that become more vertical closer to the waveBracletMock5.jpg
I think 4 is my current favorite, but I'd still love some input on where to put the sapphires and yay or nay to melee, and what types.

What a lovely idea for a bracelet. Four and Two are my favorites, and I would certainly say yay to diamond melee where the wave crashes down near the sapphire.

Your sketch helped me visualize what you were saying! Thanks for spending the time on it!
I love the little melee in the wave, but I'm considering moving the sapphire more towards the ocean, partially so that not all of the stones are condensed into one spot and also to space things out a bit more. I'll work on some more rudimentary photoshop later and finding some more inspirational pictures.

Quick attempt to add melee before I saw the sketch @MissSarah provided
4a. Wave Melee + big sapphire oceanSBracletMock+Melee.jpg
4b. Wave melee + sapphire ocean melee.

I'm coming around to the idea that maybe I shouldn't add the big sapphire and maybe just work with smaller and lighter melee. Dark sapphires don't look quite right and create too much dichotomy.

4b is very pretty. Can you provide a sample with the big sapphire added back in with the sapphire and diamond melee, please?

Updated:
4c. Big sapphire, Fewer sapphire melee

4d. No big sapphire, droplets of sapphire melee

I think my big question is where to put the big sapphire... 5mm seems like it just ruins the flow.
Would you put it directly under the wave, all the way to the left or a bit to the left of the wave like in 4a?
4e.

I like it directly under the wave, like in 4a, but with the extra sapphire melee from 4b added in to balance out the larger stone.

Here's one of my bangles with a 5mm garnet stud stuck in the clasp for reference.

I think 4d is my current favorite, but I'm still open to ideas.
@mommylawyer thanks for that image! I'll use it as a reference as I go forward

4g is my favorite, but 4d is very elegant. I really like it too.

I like 4g, especially all the melee throughout.

Aiming for more curvature in the waves similar to the YG version, but I wanted to see if everything looked ok in WG and with the sapphire more true to the one I received

Looks beautiful!

I'm not going to shame myself by adding more WG mock ups. I did reach out to a relatively new artist to see if they'd be interested since I do think their style would fit well.
Thanks for those who chimed in with their design input!

No shame i can't wait to see more!

I adore that Octopus ring, who made that?

I am not as artistic as those above but I was thinking of a wave as in the picture above, using graduating colors of sapphire melee from dark to light in the shape of the wave. I can see it in my head but hard to put on paper.
