OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHTS???

Here is my original thread from Sun about this cool octagon asscher I found:https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-on-hold-request-aset-or-pass-opinions-please.185121/

This is what the gemoligist had to say:
Our gemologist absolutely loves the cut of this diamond, which has a very octagonal shape with very wide corners and strikingly high crown. Its "F" color is icy white and it appears completely eye clean. Much of its brightness and lively light performance is found in the diamond's crown, which is quite exceptional for an asscher cut. However, under the table, its performance is a little weaker, as indicated in the attached ASET image.

If the cut and shape of diamond is your main concern, then I would encourage you to consider this option. Its shape is unique and extremely beautiful. However, if the diamond's light performance is most important to you, you will want to consider other options. After reviewing this information, please let me know where you stand with this diamond; as we are still hoping to provide you with the requested sarin report if you are still interested in it.
I'll attach the ASET in a minute, technical difficulties :nono:

I really feel like this diamond is unique enough to warrant purchasing. As many of you with old cuts feel, perhaps you aren't getting perfect performance/light return but you love your stones for their special-one-of-a-kindness. Also I am far from an expert, but it seems many of the ASETs I have seen on here are similar in looks, especially for cushions and they are beautiful IRL.

Deeply appreciate opinions, pros & cons of purchasing this stone.

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

Well, the center is a bit dark...but overall it looks nice.

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

I honestly don't think I could handle a center that dead. I'd wait for the whole package rather than giving up good light performance.

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

As much as I love the octagon outline, that dark center isn't for me.

Bumping in hopes Karl will see.

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

Going by the ASET and the gemologists opinion I don't feel there is enough there to warrant an in person look and paying shipping back. :{

Well rats :(( sorry to see this happy

You're right DS. What I love the most about the diamonds I have is their performance. My ec is so bright and beautiful. I'm sure side by side this stone would fail miserably.

Thank you for the opinion Chrono. Perhaps I'll satisfy my octagon quest with a CS and find a conventional asscher for this project, or really save my money and purchase an Octavia.

I really appreciate your guidance on this Karl. I desperately wanted this diamond to have killer optics due to the cool shape. Was hoping I found a needle-in-the-haystack. Oh well, this just gives me time to save more $$$.

I am. I'll start a thread when I'm ready to look again. Thank you!

It's okay. I will wait for the right diamond.

PS has taught me so much and I know I value performance & cut above all else so I will paass on this stone. Thanks again everyone!

Well poop.

I thought the video shows lazy under-table facets, and the ASET and gemologist confirm. Pass.

Yes Dreamer you called it in my other thread. You have quite the eye. Honestly I was hoping you were wrong but it's okay. I'll find something else :)) If I could someday find my "George" I'll be happy. Thanks for your input!

I've already moved on DS! I think I need a pendant or huggies as my consolation prize :naughty: What to do,what to do.......

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

Haha! I can SO relate to that! I always have to have something to be planning! I think both are good, basic items for the diamond wardrobe!

Re: OCTAGON ASSCHER ASET & GEMOLIGIST REVIEW-EXPERTS THOUGHT

Saw this ring while browsing today and it reminded me of your project! It's going to be so beautiful!!! (I know nothing about asschers so I haven't chimed in yet but I'm enjoying watching how things unfold. And of course if you want someone to look at asschers in person with you someday I'm your girl!).

Hi Rosebloom :wavey: That ring you linked is gorgeous! I love your ering with the sapphire in the center and diamond sidestones.
I'm not sure if I should switch my plan and have the tsav as the center and smaller asschers as the side stones. Since this cool asscher didn't work out, bad ASET, I'm going to mull this over for a bit. Maybe I'll start a thread in CS to look for a tsav. I still want everything in an asscher cut. I have so many design idea's in my head :twirl:
By the way,if you ever want to bling shop with me aside from our get together in April, I'm sure I could pencil it into my schedule :naughty: We could meet at Tiffany's in Oak Brook, maybe?

woofmama - have you considered an octavia? I know there is a premium attached but they have that cool octagonal shape...
