I think that seems a reasonable price.
It is very pretty.
It goes a bit dark for me personally in the center, but that's just me...I am not one of the experts.
A few more photos would be helpful!
I agree. The center is a bit dark. Have you seen other OECs? I think you should try some more before committing.
This one is smaller...look at face up size, not carats....but I think has gorgeous faceting. I had almost bought it for myself but decided I wanted a higher color

This is the same stone so you can see it on a hand...

It’s beautiful! I cannot speak to value for price but as far as beauty goes, this stone has it.
ps - your ring is gorgeous by the way
I think the price is okay as whole on balance. I have seen ones that are similar specs that are priced lower. The biggest thing is the performance. In some of your photos it does look like the center can be a little bit dark, but I think that that could just be the way your hand was tilted.
The only real way to judge the performance of any antique cut is by your eyes. Does it have a nice light up/light off pattern? How is the light return? Do you get nice large chunky pastel flashes?
Static photos of old cuts are really not helpful unfortunately for those questions.
In the pictures that you took, it looks like it's reflecting your camera to me. Or your cell phone case.
Is Old World Diamonds the vendor? If so, just ask Adam his honest opinion of the stone is compared to others in your budget.
I will say that as far as vendors go I would prefer to buy from Adam versus Grace myself.
I wonder if the darkness in the middle is just in photos. I have one diamond that photographs similarly but in person is quite nice.
I think it looks better in person than the video I was sent but it looks like its dark in some of photos. Not sure if I sold thought
I posted another photo of it from the dealer. It does look better in person then the videos he sent. I questioned the pastels in the video as I didn't see much there but figured I'd need to see it in person. It doesn't give off the pastels like I thought it would. I thought maybe due to the cut just being good? I'll try to post a youtube video or the one he sent.
I would ask him to let you know which ones he thinks have the best performance out of the ones that meet your specifications. I wouldn't focus on carat weight as much as I would focus on performance. Plus in old cuts, the weight really doesn't mean anything in terms of spread. It's all about the millimeter face size.
I would honestly just ask him for your budget, what is the best performing diamond that he can recommend to you and see what he picks as his favorite.
For myself, I have worked with both Grace and Adam. I personally have preferred my interactions with Adam. I've had multiple transactions with both. Everybody has vendors they click with better, and he is one of my vendors that I quite like even though I've not bought from him in a moment.
On old cuts, you can pretty much ignore the cut grade. It's not helpful.
A lot of how an old cut performs is due to the lighting condition. Have you tried taking the stone outside in shaded diffused light? Or have you seen it in low interior light, similar to candlelight? That's usually where they will perform best.
However generally speaking you have to like how they perform and it may not be a stone that is lively enough for you.
What I would encourage you to do is take a look at his Instagram on the videos, and send him what you like as far as performance. You could also use some of Grace's videos as an example. There are different faceting styles that you see in old stones. Grace generally has good videos, Even though a couple recently that have been posted aren't close enough to be helpful.
She takes great videos of her rings...it the first one has a bunch of different OEC cuts and you can see how they perform in different lighting..there aren't the best close-up shops, but if you look through her other posts / Etsy items, you can figure out which cuts produce the desired look you want
The bottom rings on her index and middle finger in the first vid made me think of you...big chunky flashes despite not being huge stones
I bought my earrings from him thats why I went back to him for this. He's very nice and understanding. I think I'll continue to look as I really want those pastels. No matter where I take it I'm not really seeing them as much as I'd like.
