This has been on of the worst week ever!!!

I was in a rougher section of town to check on an older lady (Irida) who use to be my stepmother''s cleaning lady. She recently was diagnosed with cancer and has no family.

So I went to check no her and she if their was anything I could help her out with. I drive my hubby''s Chevy crew cab when I go to the rougher places in town when I realized that I had some of my good jewelry on (1.50 ering and a new emerald bracelet I just bought) so I took them off and left them in the glove compartment. I parked the truck within five minutes from the apartment where Irida lives. After cooking a meal for her and having a nice chat (approximately 3 hrs) I decide to leave.

When arriving at my truck I noticed that my window had been busted and my cd player, travel DVD player, and a few dollars that I kept in the truck was missing. Here is the worst part my erring and bracelet was also missing!!! [] I called the police and filed a report. I have taken the police report to my insurance and filed a claim. I still cant believe that my ring is still gone.

Has any one out there had a major piece of jewelry stolen and received it back though the police? I know that some pawn shops will report curious items they receive. I am just hart broken right now.

Sorry for the long rant.

I have no idea what to do, but just wanted to let you know how sorry I am that this happened to you!!!!

OMG you poor thing!!! Big HUGS!! What did the police say?? I would go to the surrounding pawn shops and give them the descriptions of your ering anf bracelet. Give them your contact info etc.... Oh I hope you get it back!!!

OH DEAR!!!!

What Kaleigh said. Also...do you have pictures of these pieces? (Most of us PSers do) I'd give them to the police and give or email them to all the pawnshops in town..

I'm so sorry!

Good luck

I am SO SORRY about this...and for God''s sake - your jewelry stolen while you were out doing Good Samaritan type deeds - I hope karma comes full circle with a HUGE BITE in the @ss for those jerks who broke into your car. Ten fold. Thankfully you have insurance but I am so sorry to hear about this.

I''m so sorry to hear about this!

Here you were doing a good deed and thit terrible stuff happens!

I''d ask the police where to go next. Talk to your insurance company and see what they say as well.

I''m happy that you''re safe and nobody was hurt.

The police didn''t pull any prints off the car (I know they did their best science they know my hubby who is also a cop). The bad thing is my stuff was stolen in Miami (their are just too many pawn shops there to check everyone)

. However I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I have given full pictures and complete appraisals to the cops and some of the pawn shops in the area.

So to hear your bad news. At least you weren''t hurt. Good luck.

To be honest I am I didn''t bring along my son, (Irida wanted to see him however I just didn''t feel safe bring him into such a rough part of town).

I''m sorry to hear about this! I would definitely say in the future NEVER leave valuables in your car! If you feel the need to remove jewelry, keep it on your person, hidden in your bra (safety pinned) or whatever where no one will find it (aka if it''s not on your finger then don''t put it in your purse either because that is easily snatched). I always feel like my jewelry is safest on my body rather than anywhere else, and you can always turn the diamond inside to your palm when walking in a rough neighborhood like that as well. Good luck with the claims!

I''m so sorry this happened to you. I doubt if the police will actively pursue the case - their priorities are violent crimes and armed robberies. Your best bet is to ask the police which shops are known to be fences and visit them first.

I am so sorry! That is so horrible. I really hope they turn up in a local pawn shop. If not I guess you can be thankful you have insurance. Keep us updated!

Oh I''m so sorry!

I''m just glad you''re ok and not hurt!

I''d take those photos to as many pawn shops as I could. You may get lucky, worth a shot at least.

Angel, I feel so bad for you! At least you realized your things were missing and reported it within the same day, so you''re ahead of the game in that respect. I really hope your jewelry is recovered.

Angel, this is awful. I''m so, so sorry. But, like lmurdin said, thank goodness no one hurt YOU!!!!! As painful as this is now, these *things* can be replaced. Your *life* cannot.

Big hugs today.

{{HUGS!!}}} I just lost my ering too.. so I definately know your truama. I cannot however imagine how angry YOU must be to be violated in such a manner. Girl I am so sorry and I hope they find your bling!

Oh dear, I am SO SORRY to hear about this.
38.gif
But as others said at least you weren''t hurt, as hard and infuriating as it is to have your possesions stolen they can be replaced life and limb cannot. VERY sorry for your loss. Good luck with your insurance claims.

I am SO sorry to hear that you got your ering and bracelet stolen! That is just awful. Keep us posted if you have any luck with the pawn shops.

Oh I''m sooooo sorry!!!

It sounds like you are doing everything you can, so let''s just cross our fingers and hope that somehow the ring and bracelet are found!

I am so terribly sorry that this happened. You have done everything you can - now you just have to wait to see if any of your jewelery shows up. I know the waiting is hard and the violation of you and your property hard to accept. I hope they find your pieces but at the very least they were insured so they can be replaced. Please know that you are in our thoughts!

I''m so sorry for you - - you must feel so violated. I couldn''t imagine losing my ring or any other piece of jewelry in a more horrible way. And to think that your intentions (checking on and visiting with an elderly friend) were so noble ...

I didn''t read the posts too carefully (it''s getting late here!), but I sincerely hope you have insurance?

Virtual hugs are coming your way ... I really hope everything works out for you and that your jewelry is either returned intact or covered by insurance.

Angel, I feel so mad when this happens. Why people can''t go out and work for a living rather than thieve off others. The actions of a minority can be so hurtful and losing precious jewelery is really hard to swallow. I really do feel your sadness and pain. I''m keeping my fingers crossed that your jewelery shows up and the thieves are caught.

A.N.,

I am so sorry. I can only imagine how you feel. Some cleaning help just stole some earrings--not my E-ring!!! I hope you get your jewelry back soon. Best of luck dealing with this. As others have said, at least you weren''t hurt.

(((((BIG HUGS)))))))

Oh, Angel, HUGS across the internet to you. I cannot believe how people think that it is okay to take something that they want just because they can. I am so sorry this happened to you. I am also equally grateful that you were not attacked or injured. I hope that you find them.

You poor thing, I really feel for you with this violation
38.gif
As the others have said thank goodness you weren''t hurt. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that you get your stuff back.
35.gif

I''m so sorry to hear that!! *hugs*

I really hope you find them...

It''s so sad how PATHETIC people can be. It''s a terrible feeling of being violated when someone breaks into your property! I too am sorry this happened to you, but the thing to remember is that jewelry and other ''items" are replaceable.....and you are NOT! So thank G-d you were not there when it happened..........think of all the people that get robbed beaten up or worse! Best of luck to you

I''m so sorry this happened too.

I hate to say it, someone probably saw you take off your ering and bracelet and put them in the glove box. (What a horrible thought!)

In general things of value are much safer on your person than left in a vehicle.
Most people are more reluctant to attack a person than they are to vandalize an empty car.
My advice - an FID and pepper spray.
And, if you''re inclined to leave things in a car have a lock box bolted under the seat of your car.
I''m kind surprised that as a police officer, your husband doesn''t already have one in his car.

Again, I''m so sorry.
Thank goodness for insurance.

Scintillating...
