Ok well I am a college student and have decided that it is time to propose to my girlfriend. I think it is best to get her something I can afford right now and in a year when I have my first job, splurge on something that she really deserves. I am looking to spend roughly 1600 bucks on the diamond and the ring, I know it is not much, but it is just time. If you guys could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I am looking for a round diamond and just a simple solitaire setting in platinum or white gold. Looking to order today so any help is much appreciated. Thanks!!

If I may offer a suggestion...

You've done yourself a great deal of good by finding pricescope.com. The people here are a WORLD of knowledge and will help you find a ring for a lot cheaper price with much better quality than you'll find at a local jeweller. You would do yourself and your soon to be fiance a better service if you gave the local experts (I'm not one of them - I came here for help just like you) a little more than just this afternoon to help work on your project.

If you can't spare a few days or a week most any of the pricesciope vendors will best be able to help you over the phone.

PriceScope vendors can be found by clicking here.

Good luck!

I should add:

BGD - Hearts and Arrows!!!!
0.56 carat H-SI1

That diamond applies for their return/upgrade policy which, it sounds like something you'd like to take advantage of in the future.

I think that Brian Gavin diamond is gorgeous, and would look great in a simple knife edge setting from James Allen!

$1600 engagement ring is nothing to sneeze at especially with one of the beautiful stones recommended.

ditto, if you get that stone you will for sure be her hero, boss!

Nothing to add (still a newbie myself), but congrats and good luck!!

this will be a lovely ring. I''d get the .56 BGD in their classic tiffany knife edge, it would put you at $1800 but they might be able to work with you a little and it will be a stunning ring.

Alternately, to stay in budget, I quite like the James Allen 2.1mm timeless setting and the Whiteflash full of surprises (one of my faves!)

this is totally do-able to get an amazing ring for $1600...

another diamond you might consider is:https://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/whiteflash-aca-cut-diamond-2183234.htm

Suggest looking at eBay for a second hand ring :) You can get very nice rings for a good price if you know what to look for.
