I don't read all the post but I have something to say Gypsy.

Was exactly like you till I meet a gynecologist who offer me the endometrial ablation.

Yes, I know.... no more babies but you know, was so sick that I decide to go for it. DH prefer it too.

It was marvelous! Just after ablation (15 minutes) I can breeze, feel better and nerver regrets ( 4 years now). It was an issue for me!

Thank you honey. If the IUD doesn't work, I will have to consider this option. Thanks for letting me know about your personal experience. I'm so glad you are feeling better.

Gypsy, I just read through your entire thread. I hope the Mirena will work for you. How was the insertion? My 16 yr. old daughter has been having very painful periods. She has Factor V Leiden and so can't go on the pill. We're going to try her on 800mg of Ibuprofen and maybe one other kind of medication if the Ibuprofen doesn't work first. But then her options are apparently Depo, Implanon (rod type thing they insert into your inside upper arm that releases progesterone) or Mirena. None of them sound like thrilling options for a 16 yr. old girl. I am disheartened by the whole thing. The Mirena sounds the best to me. Not sure my daughter likes the thought though.

I was scared about the insertion, but I had a biopsy done the week before and that was PAINFUL. So I was imagining something worse than that. Actually in comparison to the biopsy the insertion itself was quick. Like waxing, hurts for a second then it's over. But I did start to cramp two hours later and then through the weekend. And my MD said it was going to take a couple of months before my periods lighten. So... I am anemic again this week and feeling it.

Have her take a couple of advil and it will be okay. I agree that it might be the best option for her. The less hormones the better!

But make sure the doctor scares the crap out of her about the dangers of infection and multiple partners and an IUD.

Glad it wasn't too bad for you. I will make sure she knows about the multiple partners and infection. She has told me she is NEVER having sex in high school. (She is a junior) So I hope she will only ever have sex if she is in a long term relationship!! Thanks!
