One thing you think everyone (most people) should do/experience at least once in their life?

go overseas and experience life outside of your home country -and not just touristy spots

Nearly 5 of my 6 years of active duty in the US military was living overseas, in 3 countries.
Best years of my life!!!

Long term living in other countries really opened up this American's head in a way I believe nothing else can.
Of course an income in US dollars insulated me from significant aspects of each country.
America is a bubble, but trying to explain that to an American is like trying to explain water to a fish.
Those years taught me that we Americans take so much for granted.

After the deeply immersive experience of those years I have little interest in foreign travel as a tourist.

Well, I agree with everything but the last line because I think that if you travel enough, especially to the same places, you go off the beaten path and do experience things that are not just tourist things. But I still think that makes you a "tourist" just not the typical one.

I think hold some you love's hand. Especially your child's.

And understanding/solving something by putting all the pieces together -- that feeling of having it finally click where you can see all the bits falling into place in your head.

Yes.
Tourist experiences vary, as do tourists.

Personally, I'm so spoiled by what I've had that I have little desire for anything less.
As always, YMMV.

I expect some might disagree with me on this one, and it's definitely not in the "easy, quick and simple experiences" category but... learn a foreign language. Language is one major factor distinguishing us from the rest of the animal kingdom. It is what allows us as a species to progress at the rate and speed that we do. Without language we'd have no way of sharing and accumulating our knowledge. It's the main form of expression every human knows and uses. Speaking even one foreign language expands your ability to express yourself and widens your horisons and way of thinking. Sometimes one language may not have the proper word, phrase or figure of speech, but another has one that fits perfectly. And it allows you to communicate with more people.

An added bonus is being able to read literature in the original text. And consume media in general. Some things always get lost in translation.

Excellent point about the importance of learning, or at least attempting, the language of the locals into which you have placed yourself!
If you'll pardon the pun, doing so makes a world of difference in locals' reaction to you.

I have to mention one thing I have not seen mentioned when it comes to learning a language ... meaning vs. usage.
Just because word A translates into word B, doesn't mean that culture X uses word B same way that culture Y uses their word A.

IOW, just looking up the translation of a word doesn't really cut it.
Just because a word means X in your language doesn't mean it is USED to mean X in another language.
Though subtle, this is huge.

Example:
When answering the phone (remember talking on phones?) in English we say, "Hello".

But in the Spanish speaking countries I've experienced, people do not answer the phone with the translation of hello, which is hola.
The say, "Bueno", the Spanish translation of the word good.
Bueno is short for Buenos Dias, Buenos Tardes, and Buenos Noches - Good day, good afternoon, and good night.

Meaning vs. usage is important, but I rarely see this pointed out.

Fly a plane
Many flight schools have introductory flights for not a huge amount of money. You will get to fly the plane while its in the air.

It’s like Freedom with a capital F. It’s also instinctual, which gives one pause.

I thought the most amazing experience for me was carrying a life inside me, and my 2 pregnancies were the most amazing experiences that I wish all would be able to experience. I know it is not something all can experience or want to experience, but I even told DH that I wish science would make it possible for biological men to do so one day….

When the babies move it feels cute. Keeping in mind that not everyone wants it, for those who do, 10/10 recommend.

Much less philosophical, but view interesting gems, made by earth and by humans. Not everyone can buy but if you can view them, please do. Here’s one list: black opal, sphene, moissanite, pink and violet diamonds (they are like fairy tales), dark dark dark spinel, hematite, lapis lazuli.

I am extremely fortunate and can say I've experienced everything above except flying a plane and rappelling. There is no way in hell I'd do either of these and just writing the words makes me jittery and nervous! I have been zip-lining, though, which I thought would freak me out, but the forest canopy kept me from realizing how high up I was, and I loved it!

Regarding visiting other countries, I always find it humbling to see the education, hospitality, kindness, and daily exercise (i.e. walking or riding a bike everywhere) levels in other countries. We take a lot for granted in the US.

Be really ill at least once.

I know it's a negative experience, but if there's anything that will teach you humility, it's being ill. Teaches you a lot of things, actually - like, you're not in charge, not everything is within your power to be fixed, the people we sometimes despise as being "less than" us are actually just us - with one or two extra negative experiences that were outside their control. It teaches you hope, the value of others, to look inside to find strength. It can teach you grace, if you're willing, and gratitude for all the good things that remain.

I wouldn't wish it on anyone as a permanent state, but as a temporary thing, it's one of life's big teachers.

Years back, in the hospital waiting for my cancer surgery, I was in a headspace entirely foreign to me, not just mentally, but emotionally and psychologically too ...

I deeply deeply needed somebody.

The cicada invasion, all 5 billion of them. I will cook a few for you.

I keep getting the urge to post naughty things here. You know, the usual. Acid trip, unusual sex and so on.

Come on. Y'all know you thought of it too! :lol-2:

Walk barefoot on the beach watching the sunset. Smell the ocean air.

Unconditional Love!

Be in a financial position to get the piece of jewelry of your dreams.

My dream come true? ... To commission a 4 ct VVS1 Fancy Intense Blue Octavia.

There's only one problem.
Dreams are dreams because they exceed our reality, whatever that is.

If I was in a position to acquire that blue Octavia, I'd be dreaming of a 7 ct Fancy Vivid Blue.
... then if I could afford 7 cts, I'd be dreaming of a 10 ct ........... and so on.
I wouldn't be surprised if even Queen Elizabeth II herself privately thought of bling she'd love to have.

Fair enough. Tis human nature I suppose.

When I find that happening, I put the piece away for a while, like in a safety deposit box. When it comes out, it's wonderfully novel again.

Fear not kenny, we'll talk you through that 4 carat LOL. Just for sh*ts and giggles, what could such a diamond cost?

LOL.
Price? Gosh, I can only guess.
Definitely over a mil, probably more, maybe much more.

It would probably take forever to find the rough.
Forever.
