Opinion of a mint tourmaline

I'm sorry the inclusions were too risky (and understandably so) but very happy for you that he is going to cut you a similar tourmaline. Please continue to keep us posted. How long will this take?

Thanks guys, I really wish the feather wasn't on that spot, I am really taken with this stone.

The rough that Lloyd and I have selected is beautiful. It's a nice minty green with a definite blue modifier. He said he will have it done by Wednesday this week.

Here are a couple of photos to show how it compares to the vendor photos. It looks very very close to the studio shots.

Sorry guys, I am having a lot of trouble uploading pictures at the moment, I'm not sure why, they just wind load.

A couple tips that you might have already tried:
1. Different names (alphabets only)
2. Smaller file size

Can't wait to see pictures of the rough/stone you selected.

They should also have a jpg extension.

PS accepts PNG too but those tend to be a bigger file size so as long as it is sized smaller, it should be fine.

Thanks for the help Chrono! That worked this time.

There is a bit of a reflection from the surrounds but in real life it is a very pure green. The rough we choose is the one with the pink tip, that's going to be removed. Lloyd is going to try to add as much depth to it as he can to maximize the colour it shows.

Sorry for the late update on this. Finally managed to get a few semi-decent pictures of this stone. It has no extinction at all, the black is a reflection from my camera. I am very pleased with this stone, it is very beautiful, I would not hesitate to use Lloyd again, he has been beyond helpful throughout all of this and the stone he cut me is exquisite.
Do you think it would be possible to find a pre-made setting for this? I just need the head, I am able to make the pin myself. https://flic.kr/p/quX6Zu

Thanks very much for posting the pictures for me!

And yep, that's it! It looks more saturated and glowy when outside than it does in Lloyd's photo. A very nice surprise.

No worries! It's gorgeous!

Please post lots and lots of pics of your tourm and pin once set, looking forward to seeing your project unfold!

Rio Grande, Stuller and Adwar might have a 7 x 5 mm rectangular basket you can purchase.

Oh wow, that's gorgeous! Can't wait to see the pin you make out of it.

Looks great. Thanks for the update!

The seller of those earrings got back to me and said that I can buy a single earring for $300.
It would be very easy for me to remove the hook and solder on a peice of wire to make a pin from. Just wondering if the setting will fit my stone?

There might be an overhang where the north and south portions of the tourmaline will cover/overlap the halo of the setting due to the fact that yours have extra bits but the setting is rectangular. I am unsure whether the baguette on the "bail" part will interfere with the overlap either. I think it isn't worth the risk.
