Still shopping around for an engagement ring. This one looks nice and it has gia certificates which pricescope has made me aware of how important that is.

The ring:

The report:

Posting this before I go to bed but hopefully I can get some insight whether I should jump on it or not. I'm looking for a halo or double halo ring under $4,500

As always, thanks :)

Hi, TealNotebook! :wavey: I understand you've been looking at a lot of second-hand rings, which is not necessarily a bad way to go, but it does depend on her priorities. I think double halo vs single halo, or princess vs round, are pretty polarizing, so foremost, I would chose those based on her preferences, and adjust the weight and quality of the center to fit the budget... I assume you know that a top quality double halo will take nearly all of your budget. If she's indifferent, to double vs single, round vs square, I would probably go with a round in a single halo; while it is more generic, it may stand the test of time better than any other combination.

Hi JulieN, you're the best. So I assume this ring is a no-go? I'll be honest, while I have bought her some jewlery before this search for a diamond ring is a little overwhelming to find the right one. I am thinking about just ordering one from bluenile or jamesallen in the end, though buying new appears to cost from 1.25x-1.5x more than a preloved one. While I have been looking everywhere like crazy for a ring, she has told me several times that the ring does not matter as long as we love each other. Of course, I still want to get her the best I can get lol :)

If I do get a double halo, I was thinking of ordering this one from blue nile: http://www.bluenile.com/duet-halo-diamond-engagement-ring-18k-white-gold_33606

It reminds me of the soleste ring I have seen at Tiffany's.

I am very open to suggestions on normal halo diamonds as there seems to be a panoply of styles and every site offers some sort of halo

Wow! I love that setting!!!! Earth to me, just saw your budget. I'll be looking...

Ooops! I sorted by AGS reports, saw it had Ideal/Ideal for Polish and Symm, and forgot to look at the report on that one.

This one is a tiny bit over budget at $5050, but it looks like a great deal:

~.75ct Daussi cushion in a platinum halo. It's really pretty.

I really really love that one! I can't believe it's still available!

OP - here's a stone I found from BN. I usually don't recommend them, but this one has a picture (even though I think their picture taking skills suck). If you're getting the setting from them, it'd be easier to get the stone their too. But I wouldn't suggest getting a stone that doesn't have a picture..

I really like the numbers on this one better:

Yeah, if I can find enough change under my couch cushions, I just might buy it for myself! :D

I was hoping my boyfriend would have snatched it up. ;( . It's seriously gorgeous!

Should I consider this even though we don't have the GIA report?

UM YES! You can always send it to GIA, or ask to have it sent....but it's clearly a stunning stone/ring! And it says it has the GIA report number. Ask them what it is, then call GIA to get the report...

awww, that's SO sad!

Daussi cushions kind of look a little bit like emerald cuts.... FYI.

I would not buy a daussi cushion. Most of them look classy to me and are far too shallow. Way too much leakage.

I found their settings beautiful but was told by a vendor that carried then that they had problems.

Ooops .. not classy ... I mean glassy. I would never buy one myself - they simply don't perform well in my opinion. Most are cut for face up size but what's the point of having a large diamond when it doesn't sparkle.
