First..I got flagged and kept from posting. I am NOT a dealer nor selling. I am a dude stuck in Afghanistan who has become an enthusiast and learning..would I sell? of course..who would not, BUT, I am not hocking my stuff here. I DO like opinions on value from those with more experience but I am NOT here to sell so please allow me to keep posting.

I just bought a refractometer. I have been using a Presidium thermal tester but I find sometimes it gives me different readings on the same stone. Any ideas about that?

So with all that..tell me what you might know about these two..18-22cts.

Please

Tough to tell much from the photo, really.... you'll get a little more from photos on a neutral light gray or white background, ideally with another readily identifiable object to show size and colour. (Lots of folks will use a dime, for example.) About the most I can say is that they look really clean and show a large tilt window, but that's to be expected in a low refractive index material with a step cut.

Citrine, like all other quartz, is very likely to be synthetic - some of the most reputable labs have estimated that 70% of the quartz available today is synthetic. The process by which the synthetic is grown is the same process by which the crystals are formed naturally, so they're quite difficult to differentiate. That said, it's also naturally plentiful, as lots of lightly coloured purple quartz (amethyst) is heated to various shades of brown, yellow and orange (citrine). Citrine is quite inexpensive and readily available in large, clean gems.

Hope it helps a little - maybe some of the more practiced eyes can tell you more! Where'd you buy these?

Citrines are common and readily available. I cannot make out the colour of these at all due to the carpet being of the same colour or at least, strongly affecting the perceived colour of the citrines. A white or light gray background is good, or on the back of the hand is best.
