I have this diamond on hold locally for what i consider good price(a little over $6000). I know that with an AGS 000 you should ignore the HCA (2.5). But i am having a hard time getting over it. Please give me your thoughts as I would like to purchase soon!

attached is the ags cert,
Thanks a lot!

Yes, HCA score shouldn't be something you're worried about ::)

HCA is only telling you whether a stone is likely to be worth investigating further - it's not telling you if a stone is a winner or a doozy, and it's not telling you that stones that score >2 aren't worth investigating. In this case the stone is most definitely worth having shipped out because said further investigation yields about as promising a candidate as it's possible to get!

In short - looks like a winner, and I always advise to have stones shipped out to see in-person before setting.

Yssie,

Thanks so much for the reply! I have seen the stone in person and to ME it look great, the inclusions are definitely not visible to the naked eye. I just have not looked at that many stones in person, which in turns means i don’t have too much trust in my eye discerning the differneces between ideal cut stones.

NP Michael - great that you saw it in-person and liked it, and that it's clean! Good luck ::)

So, After much more reading and Yssie’s comments I feel like I am past the HCA score…I would like to buy this stone in the next few days and just would love any more opinions on it!

Thanks SO much to anybody that has anything to say about it

I think if you have seen it in person and loved it that is great. The price looks comparable to online prices. If you like the establishment you are buying from it is nice to have a local jeweler. I don't think you can go wrong with an AGS0. Good luck, come back with pictures

Thanks Farmer Gal, I just wish somebody with a more experienced eye could take a look at it in real life! The ASET looks ok to me besides the slight green ring around the middle of the crown and also the blue appearing in a circle around the culet. Also the angles look ok and to my understanding fall out of the under2 HCA due to the 41ish pavilion and steep crown.

However I do like my jeweler and trust her. This is just such a HUGE purchase for me that I want to be sure I am making the 100% correct decision.

And no matter what diamond I end up going with I will for sure come back and post pictures.

It looks like it is a beauty. I think you'd be really happy with it.

I think it looks good. Maybe you could have an independent appraisal done?

thanks guys! i would rather not get an appraisal done...i know i am just being cheap, but it also kind of seams like a slap in the face to my jeweler who i really do like. And it is an AGS 000 , so I’m not too worried about it being a total dud or anything

I think i am just honestly looking for some encouragement to take the plunge and drop the cash!

Your jeweler does not do appraisals for you! You take it to someone who only appraises jewelry.

Julie,

I understand that my jeweler does not appraise my diamond. I am saying that it is an AGS 000, from my research at a very good price and she says it is a nice stone. So other than insurance purposes I don’t see why I should take it to someone who is going to give me a report stating what AGS already said, yet knows less than them. If there was a reputable person in Seattle who could sit down and go over the stone just to talk about what they liked about it, then I would consider.

I am basically looking for some free input on the AGS report including the high HCA score and the aset image. the numbers are also different than the diamonds I have been looking at preciously, especially the table. I am VERY nervous about this purchase strictly due to the financial aspect of buying a diamond.

Thanks

-Michael
