Hello,
I have these two diamonds in mind from Brian Gavin Diamonds.

The first one is:
AGS-1040381680058 0.734 G SI1 Brian Gavin Signature H & A for $2,499.00
I have this one on hold. Lesley said that she will give me a discount on this one and the price will be $2424 and I also confirmed that it is eye clean.

The second diamond I am considering is:
AGS-1040381680049 0.712 I VS1 Brain Gavin Signature H & A for $2236

images?

Maybe go with the G.

The G.

SI1 and VS1 will look exactly the same if the SI is eyeclean - which you have confirmed is the case. You may well see the diff between G and I.

I am not really sure how to post pictures on here but this is the link to the G that I have on hold

IS looks good, hearts image not so, might be just a tilt of the stone when the image is taken, I would request it to be taken again since it is sold as a H&A.

stonecold- thanks for looking at the images. What exactly makes the heart image look bad? I can''t tell how to check if they look good

Not bad, just slightly off - like SC said likely due to slight tilt during photography.

I think he means diff heart tips and slight clefts<?/

ya, also the 8 o''clock V, one part is almost not visible.

I would imagine its just the photography with the image, definitely ask for a retake.

Well I e-mailed Brian Gavin and this is the response I got

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the e-mail. I looked at the hearts image of the actual diamond and it is even and consistent as are all Brian Gavin Signature H & A''s. Brian will be in the office in about 2 hours and I will ask him to comment and retake the image. It may have something to do with the lighting from the new "orange" color we have started using. Also keep in mind that a lot of the other hearts images that are being displayed have been photo shopped and ours are not touched. Also, please e-mail me the link from PS so we can see the comments which would be helpful.

Best Regards,

Lesley Harris

I have talked with Brian and he feels that this is an acceptable and true Hearts & Arrows. I like this stone but I am not sure if I should buy it.

(cannot seem to get the highlight feature to work, thus the quotes)

"Also keep in mind that a lot of the other hearts images that are being displayed have been photo shopped"

Is this really the case? Perhaps she means in promotions and advertising, but not in purported images of actual diamonds by PS vendors.

Expert thoughts on this?

You can tell some hearts images have been photoshopped a bit, like cleaned up and sharpened, though not doctored to have perfect hearts.

Listen, Brian has a vigorous number of tests that must pass before he puts his signature on the stone, and sells it as his top tier line. He has no interest in telling you otherwise. He has a reputation to maintain, and would also like your future business, as well as from your friends and family.

It''s a scary purchase, spending so much money on something you haven''t even seen.

BUT Brian and Lesley are professionals, they''re experts in the field, and they have actually looked at the stone and given their honest opinions - there''s no more information that we bystanders can offer to sway you one way or another.

If you''re still not comfortable maybe it''ll always be a mind-clean thing, and it''s time to look for a completely different stone..?

I decided to purchase the diamond because I know that they have to pass all the standards and I know that Brian Gavin is highly respected. I did consider that other stone but was worried about the feather. Thanks for the input.

congrats!!

Thanks. I saw in another posting you are waiting for your setting and it is supposed to take 4 weeks? I wasn''t told an exact time frame for mine, so I am just wondering. I can''t wait to see it.

Well, it was up to 6 weeks. BGD has alway been in demand, but ever since they launched their newly designed website, orders have been flying in.

I ordered my stone on 01-21-10. I called yesterday to inquire about a wedding band, and also asked them an estimated time frame for completion of my ring. Lesley told me most likely it will be the end of this month (February). So I consider that to be 4 to 5 weeks total time.

It all depends on the setting as well. Tell them what date you need to by, and they will try they best, without being unrealistic, to accommodate you.

Which setting did you decide on?

I chose their new setting. The classic tiffany style half round. My girlfriend doesn''t care for the knife edge style so I think she will love this one.
