Hi all,

one of my mates just sent me this as we are both in the process of buying engagement rings , I wasn’t too sure about the AGS cert as I everything I’ve been looking at on blue Nile/Allen has been GIA and was told Gia is preferable?

i didn’t want to say anything as I didn’t want to come off negative but could y’all proffer some opinions , evidently it’s eye clean but the clarity chart shows a few inclusions

AGS is highly regarded in the US, particularly for their cut and performance grading. A clarity grade of VS2 in and of itself is not an issue as most VS2 diamonds will be eye clean. However, a knot is not a desirable inclusion, and one on the table is very undesirable. Also, a cloud as the first inclusion listed means it is the grade setting inclusion and could result in a cloudy diamond (though not as likely in a VS2, it is possible). It would need to be viewed in various lighting to check for cloudiness. As for cut, it is on the outer fringes of AGS 000, but still scores with in AGS 000, so it should perform nicely. It has a pretty low crown, so will likely show more white light return vs. colored "fire", but those are personal preferences. GL

Nice stone with AGS0 light performance. Some optical symmetry issues, digging and unevenly cut pavilion.
88/100

thanks kaycee , u confirmed my initial impression that the inclusions were undesirable , I personally think he can get a better stone for 25k if he went online...

About Tiffany Quality. Maybe a very slightly bit less.

Wow I’m a bit surprised this is any where near Tiffany’s quality, good for him I guess didn’t think you could get anything at this price that would be comparable, u walk Into Tiffany’s and they are charging quite a bit more for a 2 ct and up .

I would pass off the top because of the knot.

He’s too stubborn to listen, worst thing is he is claiming it to be a H&A but I’ve tried telling him it’s not a H&A cut but ‍♂️ what can you do he trusts his “jeweler” . Sent him some links to read hopefully he does but I know I’m not the only one that’s told him this...hopefully he comes to his senses I’m planning on spending less then half of what he is spending and I couldn’t imagine being so ill informed in a big purchase like this.....

It is not a H&A. The ASET in the report clearly shows this.Screenshot_20201116-163703_Chrome.jpg

Your stone will look like this, except you got more severe twisted pavilion in two spots instead one with digging around the edges (greens)

It is cut with poor craftmanship to achieve 2.0 carat weight and barely make AGS000. I am not loving it but it is still a ASS000. In addition, finding a well 2.0c F VS2 is not easy and can take some time.

25k for a 2.0c F VS2 AGS is reasonable both online and B&M.
