opinions on this spinel

Is the dark area clearly defined, looking like a straight line, almost splitting the stone into 2? Or just dark in bits and pieces here and there? If it is just brown with some pink flash coming through, it's not so bad. But if it bothers you, you don't have to settle for it, especially if you feel pricing is high.

Thanks Chrono. I am going to look at it in the sunlight tomorrow-- maybe even get a picture. There is no line down the middle. It just seems like a deeper gem than I was expecting. My brown diamond is like this -- a deep dark color with flashes of orange. I thought this would be brighter most of time.

I see a good deal of brown in the photos, and don't see the great facet cuts the way it appears in the Finewater photo. I would send it back. Sorry :blackeye:

That's a shame as it looks nice in vendor photos. It sounds as if you aren't wowed by it so return until you find the one for York hard earned dollars.

I liked the sleepy spinel but it does defeat the purpose of getting a shiny, sparkly spinel!

You might also want to try spinel source. She is nice to work with and may have the orange pink you are looking for; I have a pretty pear shaped one I like a lot from her. Good luck, hereto on looking.

It sounds too "earthy" for you so there's no point in keeping it.

+1

Especially since this was a budget transgression in the first place.

Thanks for all your help. I'll be back again when I find another one. Please let me know if you spot a great orangey pink spinel...
