Opinions please on a 2 carat Princess

That's the one JulieN just posted on your other thread. If you're worried about the clarity being VS2 vs VVS2, then I'd suggest you don't because on a VS2 you won't see the inclusions with your eye.

I didn't realize it was the same. Is this a case of great minds thinking alike?

I wanted to put it out to the larger audience here. Also I have no experience with an
Ideal or ASET scope, so could use help interpreting those images.

Hi Tony. Since you're looking for input, I'll be glad to try and help as best I can. I'll let the ASET/IS "folks" explain those to you in detail, the faceting pattern looks "interesting" to me, but I'm not a Princess expert so maybe that's how all of their ASETs look.

Personally, for a 20th anniversary, unless your wife absolutely insists on a princess shape, would you be willing to consider an ideal round? With your background in jewelry, I'm sure you know that the ideal round will give you quite a bit more finger coverage (since princesses face up smaller) and I've always felt that if DH is paying for 2 carats, I'd like for it to look like 2 carats. You know what I mean?

Also, again since this is for a 20th anniversary, I would ask if you'd be willing to go up in color? Preferably D-F, but definitely no lower than G. The reason I'm asking is that since your wife would like channel set melee on her setting, if you go with WF (for example), the melee will be ideal cut F/G in color. I know they're small, but they'll face up very white & I wouldn't want anything to take away from the center stone. Not to mention that if she's like me and likes "icy white" diamonds, I think after 20 yrs, she'd really appreciate a truly white diamond with no hint of a tint.

Finally, wrt the clarity, you can ask any of the vendors to send you pictures that show you the inclusions that gave the stones their "grade" and an explanation of what magnification is needed to see it. Although you're shopping online, they don't expect you to purchase something "sight unseen" and will provide pictures, comparison videos, etc that will allow you to make an informed decision. Some vendors have excellent return policies, where you can have them send you a stone for approval before going forward with the setting or anything else.

Just wanted to give you food for thought. I think this is a great way to celebrate your anniversary, so whatever you decide, I'm excited for you & your bride :)) .

I don't understand this. They've already looked at styles and have decided that that's what they want. I don't think they should switch from a princess to a round if they want a princess!! OP - the stone you posted looks great and that's a beautiful aset image. And - H color is still close enough to colorless that i wouldn't worry about an H on a princess. I wouldn't suggest going lower than an I, but an H you should be fine.

Tony I thought you wanted opinions from a "larger audience", so I apologize if I misinterpreted your request. I certainly did not mean to cause confusion for you.

And congratulations on 20 yrs!! The fact that you want to do something like this after 20 yrs is a testament to what must be a happy marriage.

Your 2.04 princess looks amazing! Congrats on 20 years of marriage! :appl:

Ok so I haven't read your previous thread and am just commenting on the particular diamond.

I think its beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong with a AGS0. I have a super ideal classed I VS2 princess from WF. Mine is bright, white, clean and lively and I would the expect the same from this one. It has a nice strong facet pattern, not too splintery. Reasonable spread. It also has a high crown and small table which I personally prefer and think they make a stone more defined and 3 dimensional. (some princesses with a really flat crown and large table can look like dark pits rather than diamond imho)
