10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit $70

It''s so interesting to read everyone''s opinion on this!

Like for me and my husband, we really don''t eat out often and really wouldn''t spend that much to eat. I can''t remember the last time we actually did spend $200 on a meal... but that is the MOST I would be willing to spend.

However, I would easily spend that on jeans, as I wear them EVERYDAY, so I would definitely get my money''s worth out of that. A new hairdo... eh... I would spend that every once in awhile. But I literally get my hair done MAYBE once a year. I''ve had my same sunglasses for the last 7 years.

So... it''s just fun to see where everyone else''s "priorities" are!

Ehh...if you didn't love the jeans, go back to something you love! Or if you want a pair of sevens, wait til a style comes out that you really like. 175 is not what I'd spend on a pair of jeans I was just 'ehhhh' about, when I spend that much, its on a pair I LOVE! (or can go to work in) I have a range, all of mine aren't that expensive, but I wear a pair of my sevens or citizens when I want them to look a little nicer, just because those cuts do look nicer on ME, which it totally )
Yes, I agree here. . .I tried on seven jeans and they didn't look all that great on me and for this reason I wouldn't spend $175 on them. . .Most of my jeans are around 80-100 and I've found that The Gap & Lucky have jeans that fit me best and these, thankfully, are reasonably priced.

1) for a pair of jeans - I spent $325 on a pair of True Religion Jeans when they first came out, normally I would spend ~$175, I prefer skirts though.
2) for a pair of shoes - $5 - $400 I am normally barefoot though...
3) for a nice going-out outfit - I don''t really go out to nice places more like bars and clubs which Urban Outfitters is perfect for, if it''s a club I might spend more at Saks (or if I still lived in LA Fred Segal or Planet Blue *sigh*) or something so I guess the range would be $75 - $300
4) for a nice dinner - Don''t care about nice dinners, we like Chipolte so $15
5) for a new hair do (cut, color, perm etc) - I get free haircuts at Bumble & Bumble by the instructors, they use me as a demo for the students, my hair is up pretty much 24/7 because I live at yoga studios.
6) for a cosmetic item (lipstick, foundation for example) - I bought the La Mer skin line, I don''t like it, I think it''s for ''older skin'' the face cream is to thick and oily for my skin. I don''t where make-up unless I go out which is rare, but I have an awesome collection from my modeling/acting days when I lived in LA. MAC gives huge discounts with an acting/modeling related pay stub, I also have a lot of Dior, Nars, & Trish McEvoy
7) for a pair of sunglasses - $300 I find a pair I love and wear them forever, when they fall apart Saks will usually give me a new pair of the same ones or fix them for me for free. I''ve had my current pair for a little over a year.
8) for undergarments - I love the VS hipster mesh panties, I think they are like $7.50 or something, for thongs they have to be comfortable so I go with onGossamer or Cosabella which let''s face it are so overpriced, but worth it. Bras, I have a hard time with, usually whatever is most flattering, but I wear sportsbras more often so I only have a few bras that I actually wear, I think they range from $36-$75.
9) for a ''gift'' to yourself (whatever it may be) - If I see something I like I think about it forever and if it still haunts me then I have to have it. It''s usually something that is way overpriced like a Da-Nang mini hat was $150 or the La Mer stuff that I bought. Right now I am saving to join a Shaolin Kung Fu Temple.
10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit - Swimsuits from Target are fine by me, I don''t think I have ever had one that was flattering. The most I ever spent was $75 on one from Everything But Water and it''s not that great. Workout outfits, I tend to stock up on lots of Hard Tail, St. Grace, and mens RL wife beaters, throw a sports bra underneath, and pick from a selection of sweats from American Apparel Co. I spend most of my time in workout clothes, but I keep it simple. I had a Juicy Couture obsession for awhile, but they aren''t really workout clothes they are more like loungewear.

I have lots of stuff that is reasonabley priced and lots of stuff that is way overpriced, but I don''t throw things out and things always come back into style, although I have been told I have my own style according to my fiance''s mom. My closet is a mixture of label whore clothing, Urban Outfitters, and Target. Then a bunch of yoga label clothing. I don''t have kids so I guess I spend normally for my age.

The jean prices are shocking to me. I thought my current jeans (at $75) were fabulously expensive because until recently I wore $40 LLBean jeans. I cannot even imagine paying $175 for jeans, let alone $300. I am willing to spend money on clothing, but jeans?

Deb

Deb, for some the jeans are the ultimate piece of clothing! I would much rather spend $150 on a great pair of jeans than a dress or pair of shoes if it came down to it. I wear mine all winter long literally so it's important to have ones that fit like a second skin and are comfortable...so far I have found the pricier ones are the ones that work for my body type. Every time in the last few years I have tried a cheaper jean it just looks horrible on me.

It's funny to see that my 'costs' are not outrageous, when I actually had to put them down on here, I was like..YIKES!!! We are all a big fat bunch of spenders here! No wonder our other 'hobby' is diamond and gem shopping!! Our poor hubbies.

4) for a nice dinner $150

I''m a cheapskate regarding myself for clothes and grooming, but then I spend a bunch of money on an old armoire, or jewelry for myself or gifts. Doesn''t make sense, but to each his/her own.

I''m trying to be frugal, but these jeans are calling my name, hence I started this thread. I haven''t splurged on clothing in ages!

They are $179.

You should go for it. It''s important to take care of youself while taking care of everyone else. And like you said it''s not like you''re tossing money out right and left.

Having something nice you feel good in is every bit as important as saving a few dollars. As long as you keep it in balance.

This question is hard for me to answer. Is it the most you''ve spent? Or what you spend. Because if it''s what you usually spend, I am schizophrenic. It is not unually for me to spend in excess of 1k for a great black suit. It''s also not usually for me to get an outfit at Target or Walmart for $20.00.

I love a good bowl of soup at Panera for 3.50. We''ve also racked up BIG restaurant bills.

Well, you get my picture. - a fifteen dollar lamp from Target & a 5 figure period lamp.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, panera.........I love panera..........
I am SUCH a foodie...but except for special events, we do not spend more than 50 bucks (we don't drink) on dinner. I am SO happy at panera or the ground round LOL or cheap local places. I'm such a classy gal :)

I must be going through an early mid-life crisis.....first I wanted the jeans....now another friend has talked me into $125 eyelash extentions that only last for 3 months!

What to do? I know the jeans are more, and last longer, but my poor short lashes are SCREAMING to be longer :)

Okay, i''m sleep deprived from moving and tons of other work, but so forgive me if I''m crossing the line here, but eye lash extentions sound weird! Totally weird. Beyond the scope of normalness. Is anyone even going to notice these? Unless you''re getting professional portraits done, I''d say the eyelashes are a complete waste of money especially since when the little extentions fall off, they''re probably fall into your eye and make your eyes water and smear your makeup or something!

GET THE JEANS!

If you like the jeans and look GREAT in them, get them. If they don''t look good, then take your $175 and hunt around for another pair of superb designer jeans that make you feel sexy.

I think your inner voice is just telling you that you need to do something for yourself. I don''t have any kids but I work all the time - 12-15 hour days.

I get pretty burnt out after awhile. And sometimes I need to spend some $$ on myself to give myself a reward or just feel put back together -- LOL. one time I felt that way I bought 2 pairs of 7 jeans. Then a few months later I took myself for a hand and body massage. Both were expensive outings, but I felt better and looked better. And I find life gives back to you when you are in a good mood and there''s a spring in your step.

As long as it''s not everyday or a habit or keeping food out of your family''s mouth, why not get eyelash extensions just for fun? Or a pair of hot jeans?

WHAT?????? Eye lash extentions? Are we in J-LoTown? LOL...I think she wears mink ones...seriously...OK, J-Mom...that is ODD LOL... You'll feel better in the jeans than with some dopey eyelashes...and that sounds kind of frightening...don't they fuse the fake to your real with some hot glue? OMG. Get yourself a good eyeliner, mascara and a Sheseido (sp?) eyelash curler. It is the BEST.

1) for a pair of jeans- $150
2) for a pair of shoes- $275
3) for a nice going-out outfit- $200
4) for a nice dinner- $50 per person
5) for a new hair do (cut, color, perm etc)- $150
6) for a cosmetic item (lipstick, foundation for example)- $18 (lipgloss); $50 (foundation)
7) for a pair of sunglasses- $250
8) for undergarments- $25
9) for a ''gift'' to yourself (whatever it may be)- no limit!! hahaha!!!
10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit- $50

I''m in my mid-twenties, no kids (for demographic purposes)...

1) for a pair of jeans- $150 (Normally about $100)

2) for a pair of shoes- $300 (Normally about $175)

3) for a nice going-out outfit- $400 not including shoes ($250 normally)

4) for a nice dinner- $400 for two people (normally $150 - $200 because fiance plays DD and I only get a glass of wine)

5) for a new hair do (cut, color, perm etc)- $80 (I don''t dye my hair, I get it cut about twice a year so I don''t go anywhere special. But, I do have to pay for a full hour because it is super thick and takes at least 30 minutes to blow dry)

6) for a cosmetic item (lipstick, foundation for example)- $25 for lipsticky items; $60 for foundation-y things--I am a Trish McEvoy devotee--so I''m buying what she''s charging

7) for a pair of sunglasses- $300 (I wear prescription sunglasses though, so the bulk of the cost is the lens)

8) for undergarments- $75 for a complete set I guess. For some reason I can''t think of how much stuff costs...

9) for a ''gift'' to yourself (whatever it may be)- A gift to myself is 1-4 and 6. I don''t buy jewelry or other big ticket items--just clothes, food, and makeup. I''d say I don''t usually spend more than $500-$750 at once, though.

10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit- $125 swimsuit, $40 workout outfit (if that, I don''t care what I look like in the gym)

Interesting poll.

1) for a pair of jeans - I think the most I've ever spent was around $75 +/- for a pair of cowboy lace-ups, in SoHo, NY when I was in highschool. Generally I spend about $25-$40 on sale.
2) for a pair of shoes - I am not a big shoe person, I like Payless and even Target and try to avoid the prices at department stores so anything over $50 would be a serious purchase for me.
3) for a nice going-out outfit - $100 or so
4) for a nice dinner - $50 per person
5) for a new hair do (cut, color, perm etc) - Thankfully, usually my mom treats me to this, and I know it's not cheap. Otherwise I go to a cheaper place myself and end up with a boring, unstylish cut because I'm too poor-college-student for fancy places.
6) for a cosmetic item (lipstick, foundation for example) - I rarely buy this stuff - $15
7) for a pair of sunglasses - $25
8) for undergarments - $25
9) for a 'gift' to yourself (whatever it may be) - Pricele$$ if it's jewelry!
10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit - $40 - $50

Cool...
1) for a pair of jeans - $40.00 will last me for a longggg time
2) for a pair of shoes - $75.00 for ones that i really need and can''t find anything else cheaper
3) for a nice going-out outfit - $80.00, this only happens if I really am in dire straits. Don''t go out to fancy shmancy places.
4) for a nice dinner - for 2 $200.00
5) for a new hair do (cut, color, perm etc) - $80.00 with tip
6) for a cosmetic item (lipstick, foundation for example) - unlimited as I only use MAC products but make purchases maybe once a year
7) for a pair of sunglasses - cheap is good, Dh bought me $280.00 Serengettis
8) for undergarments - bra - $15.00, underwear - 5/$6.00
9) for a ''gift'' to yourself (whatever it may be) - $$$$ BLINGS
10) for flattering swimsuit/workout oufit - $30.00
