Hello P-Ser''s!

35.gif
After a year of lurking and searching for the right setting for my diamond... I have finally found the setting. First let me start off with a little background on why...

In Aug 2004 my husband and I were married... the happiest day of my life... We wed in a super small ceremony (VEGAS DRIVE THRU!) while home on my Mid tour leave from Korea and exchanged simple Tiffay Etoile and Lucida plt bands. I was content and had no intention of upgrading or changing anything! I went back to Korea (p.s. I''m in the Air Force) and he went back to Okinawa with our three children. That ring was the only thing that kept me going for those 6 months and that soon I would be reunited with my DH and wonderful kids.

When I got home we took a trip to the beach (our fav pastime!) and the DH noticed that I had my ring on and suggested that I take it to the car, as I did it slipped out of my hands and into the ocean... The pangs of sickness immediatley swelled and it was gone. After about 6 months of DAILY beach combing and many many tears, I finally gave up... Then out of the blue he surpised me with a 3ct L SI1 RB!!!!!! it is really magnificent! In a simple WG setting.

Well to make a long stroy short I broke one of the prongs (I have rock hands!) last week and put a small chip in teh girdle... my jewelers says it can be smoothed and covered with a prong... no too huge a deal... but still. Nate from Abazias has been wonderful and has found me a terrific 3/4 Pave Plat. setting wit a double prong claw head. Absolutle georgous! And it should be here with in the week-ish! Here is a pic from their site - minus the head. Wish me luck and I''ll add some more of my now, loose diamond...

Well that''s quite a rocky journey you''ve been on. I''m sorry you lost your wedding band and chipped your diamond. But it does sounds like the journey is ending on a happy note. The new setting sounds amazing and the stone is gorgeous! I''m sure it''ll all turn out beautifully. I expect lots and lots of pics!

Okay, your stone is gorgeous!!! And I am thrilled to hear you've decided on Leon for your setting!

BUT, I have another suggestion. I'd send the stone to Brian Gavin to fix the chip aaaaand to possibly recut a little to make it ideal. That is a pretty big chip and I would be afraid to just let a jeweler smooth it out. You may as well let an expert diamond cutter fix it before you send it to Leon to set. I'd want the stone to be as perfect as possible, if it was me. Brian has done some beautiful recuts, and it is not very expensive.
