Last one...and it comes with a story...
Before she passed away, Mike''s mom had put up the wedding flag that she had embroidered every time one of the kids got married. Our names and dates hadn''t been done yet because she "didn''t want to jinx anything." How''s that for irony? At any rate, it was still hanging when the family gathered at the house and after the fifth or so person commented on it in a sympathetic way, I took the stupid thing down. It was sort of a family joke (in a morbid sort of way) for the next few days.
Well, when Mike and I rode up to his friends'' house for the reception, I saw the flag flying - except now it had our names and date on it too. Sometime, in the 48 hours we had to put a wedding put together, Mike found time to track down the woman who made the flag and get her to embroider it for us. It was a total surprise. I didn''t cry at all during the ceremony - my cheeks hurt from smiling so much, as a matter of fact - but when I saw that flag I totally started bawling. But ya know, in a good way.
