The older one''s, uhm, feathers/down whatever reminds me of the playdough barber shop toy where you stuff the guy with playdough and squeeze hair out of little holes in his head
LOL....I never thought of that.

OMG they are so adorable! They look so sweet and tame in your hands. What cute babies. Did you name them yet? I love baby birds. I miss the handfeeding of my birds. It''s messy, but they are so cute the way they beg and beg for the food.

What sweeties!!!

They really are sweet. I haven''t been handfeeding them. I just take them out of their box everyday and play with them some. We haven''t named them yet. But, we also haven''t named mom and dad, or the oldest babies, or the middle babies. Help me think of some names All of the birds can be so funny. They each have thier own personalities. One of the oldest babies LOVES to hang upside down. His brother hasn''t figured out how to do it yet. When David is home, he''ll whistle at them and get ALL of the going. They can get awful loud sometimes. But I really enjoy them.

LOL, with the play dough barbershop hair.

Here is a site with some name suggestions: http://www.birdbytes.com/names.html

So, you are letting the parents feed them, but you are playing with them to keep them tame. That is a nice thing - saves a lot of work (and sleeplessness). Are you ever going to switch over to hand feeding?

I should start feeding them some....I''ll let mom and dad do most of it though. The other 4 babies were also played with and mom and dad fed them, and we have a hard time trying to handle them. They all love attention and get up on the front of their cages to be next to us, but don''t want to be held. We would really like to be able to hold these. But we also have 2 birds per cage. I''d read that it''s easier to train them if they are alone.

They are sooo cute!!! I love seeing them grow, how fun!!!

What worries me Oshinbreez, is that the kitty in your avatar is licking her chops!

LOL. I was wondering if anyone would mention Comet''s pic. He stays outside most of the time, and the birds don''t even phase him when he comes in.

Aw, what cuties!!!

The babies are now 3 weeks old and so sweet. They sure are growing fast.

Glad you like them. The babies are doing great. Yesterday I was holding the oldest and rubbing him under his beak. He would just close his eyes as if he was in heaven. They''re getting so loving.

I can''t believe I missed this post til now!! Your babies are soooo cute! I love the cockatiel "mohawk" on the oldest. What a cutie!

Why should he mind a bird? We have 2 dogs (1 outside, 1 inside), cat (usually outside), Oscar (huge fish in 55 gal aquarium), plus the babies mom, dad, and 4 siblings.

Thanks widget. I never had birds, or even wanted any, until I saw a sign for "free cockatiels" and we got mom and dad. I never knew what I was missing.

When we were given mom and dad, we were planning on breeding and selling them. BUT....when the 1st ones were born, David couldn''t bear to give them up. Neither could I. We thought we''d be able to sell the 2nd ones....but again, we fell for the little ones. I''m not even thinking about trying to get rid of these. I know it will never happen....lol
i know how that goes! i ended up with a pair of cocktiels about 13 years ago. one day there was an egg in the bottom of the cage, so i started reading about raising them. i set up a nest box and decided i would try to breed them and hand feed the babies to sell. the first clutch only had two eggs but i let mama sit on them to see if they would hatch. sure enough, two babies hatched! after spending every 2hours feeding those birds around the clock, i knew there was no way i would be able to sell them. all in all, i raised 15 babies. i ended up giving them all away to very nice families over the years. the only bird i kept the entire time was the female from the very first clutch from 13 years ago. she was the absolute sweetest bird ever. i thought about breeding her and even started looking for a male that she might like but i knew 13 was getting old, so i didn''t persue it too hard. unfortunately, she passed away recently and i never got a chance to breed her. it must not have been meant to be.

i enjoyed seeing your baby pics. it will be fun to watch them grow up. thanks for sharing!

We raised our little african grey, Killer from a baby as well. We bought him from a breeder but we hand fed with the syringe and everything! We also had a bit of a ''Finch Farm'' at one time, the parents kept having more babies! We eventually had to get rid of them, after all, a family of finches, an african grey, AND a mini macaw was too much noise! I LOVE baby birds, they are just too cute for words!
i finished hand feeding my african grey as well. they are a big commitment. i don''t think i really realized what a big commitment it was when i first got him. they can live up to 80 years!

do you still have yours?

is your oscar albino or black? (or both!)
i don''t have an oscar anymore. the tank is now filled with a variety of african cichlids. instead of having one big monster, i have a bunch of smaller ones.
