Hey guy, first I just wanted to say that this site has been so much help for me in the last couple of days and I really appreciate the work that is being done here.

Now to my dilemma. I really want to get a diamond from online instead of Robins’ Bros since the price difference is so much. So far I have found the setting that she likes from Robins’ Bros (a tacori HT227312X) and I know that she wants Emerald Cut, but just can’t decide on the center stone. I think I have narrowed it down to two stones. Here they are and both are in my budget of 4500 and max of 5000. I could not find any other info on the stones. Please let me know if you guys think either of the two are worthy to get and please do not spare any feeling. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

We do not allow posting of links to photobucket, flickr, etc. to prevent broken links and to protect privacy.

Check your email that you registered with-I sent you an email a few minutes ago with some help.

Let me know if you still can't get them to post and I will post them for you.

It''s not a problem-we will make sure you can get your pictures posted.

They are very different - apples and oranges.

I think before you start making choices between individual stones you need to decide what length:width ratio you like. The two you've posted are at opposing ends of the spectrum; have a look here and play around with the proportions - then it will be easier to narrow things down and look for what you want.

The reason I put two with completely different ratios is because I have seen two different types of opinions here (1.3-1.4 and 1.5-1.75). Ultimately it will be up to her if I can figure it out but I just wanted to know what others like and if these are any good in the first place before I start asking question. To add she is pretty tiny. 5''4" 115lb with a ring size of 5. This is suposed to be a surprise so I cant go too in detail with her. I dont want her to start thinking anything

Request for an ASET image and the crown height.

Personally I prefer squared shape cuts, so I like the first one better. But I think it''s really matter a personal preference.

Of the two I perfer the first one. The second one has much larger table compared to the depth and I''m not a fan of that. I think the setting you picked would look nice with the first.

I also like the first stone better.

The more I think of it the more I like the 1.3-1.4 ratio.

Emeraldlover1 - I think I think the same with you now. The setting and size of her hands make like that ratio alot more. Im gonna go to robins bros today just to look at some different types and hopefully cocur with my statement. We will se what happens.

On a side note. Is there anything to be cautionary about the first one.

I also have asked for the ASET from the dealer

I like the first one a lot, but would like to see the ASET first.

Here is one of them

This photo of your first diamond is not the actual photo. It is a stock photo used by Whiteflash for all emerald cut diamonds that they don't have a real photo for. Please don't judge by this photo. Your first diamond is likely a virtual stone that Whiteflash would have to have shipped in to take photos.

Check out a few other virtual stones, they all have the same picture.

Also shammi for any EC's you are interested in, we will need the following info please.

detailed photos;
ASET image
crown height

The second diamond looks very dark under the table, can you post the basic measurements such as depth and table please and also get the crown height?

I would like to add that in this size stone a more elongated L:W might look more substantial and graceful on the hand. I know the shape is personal preference but i would suggest a 1.4 to 1.5 ratio in this carat weight. In the 1 carat range more square stones can easily look like stones trying to be asschers that arent....

Hey guys I went to Robins Bros yesterday to look at diamond to get a better feel for what looks nice and what doesnt. I came to the conclusion that I like the l/w ratio of 1.3-1.4ish sooooo much better than 1.5-1.75. Also that color has to be F and above for me because that is where there is no yellowish tint when the light glares on the top. Clarity is not the biggest thing as I had thought before. I looked at a SI1 and I really couldnt see anything. I still want VS2 and above though. AND most importantly I figure out that Robins Bros is the biggest rip off ever. The diamonds that I am looking at online are about 3-4 thousand less than what they have and that is just sad. Im so happy I was directed to this site.

Lestat - Thank you for pointing that out. I cant believe that didnt cross my mind.

Lorelei - After narrowing it down to the two down below I called up WF and had them fly in the diamonds and they are gong to give me the detailed photos, ASET, IS and crown heights by tomorrow morning. I will post them up the second I get them. Hopefully they both come back good because Id rather have to choose than not have a choice at all. Crossing my fingers. I also agree with you on the first diamond but Im not looking at diamonds of those proportions anymore.

I look forward to seeing the images!

The diamonds are in and the WF lady is taking all the pics as I write this. Im kinda excited. Even though it is going to cost an arm and a leg, I still feel good that I am doing this myself and of course with the help of the fine people of Pricescope, instead of succumbing to laziness and paying more for less.

I will post the pics hopefully in the next couple of hours as she stated.

Ok I got back all the pics and it the first of the two is definetely better. Now what do you guys think of the second one though(see the following posts worst of the two first)

Oh and they are around 3500 each. Worth it or keep on looking?
