What do you guys think of oval eternity bands vs emerald cut? Would you wear as a right hand ring or move engagement ring to right hand and wear as wedding band?

I want to eventually get an eternity ring of a stand-alone size, but I''d only wear it on my lfet hand because I think of them like wedding rings. So I''d wear my regular set sometimes, and wear the eternity ring as an alternate also on the left ring finger. I also LOVE the narrow stacking bands on either side of a round eternity ring. But between ovals or emerald cuts, I think I''d prefer emerald.

HI:

That oval eternity ring is a stunner and something I''d wear in a heartbeat--right or left hand. I wore a RB eternity ring on my left hand for 21 years--with and without my ER. Now I am inclined to wear my new ER alone, and my new asscher eternity ring as a RHR (it is simply too large for my left hand unless I have a smaller band to brace it with).

My ex-sister-in-law, wore her eternity ring on her left hand, and her ER on her right hand (three large emerald cuts), b/c she felt her fingers were too short to wear them comfortably together. Anything goes!

cheers--Sharon

Who wouldn''t love an oval eternity band on any finger??? Yummy!!

OT: Canuk-gal....what''s the deal with your avatar? LOL. A toe ring??

I love both emerald AND oval eternity bands. So chic and classic. As much as I love emeralds, I would go with the ovals because they will sparkle a LOT more than emeralds and you could go down in clarity a bit, save some $, and never notice the difference (that is if you are having the band built for you).

I would consider something this substantial a stand alone ring and wear the engagement ring on the other hand. Both together might just be too much.

I think that ring is beautiful. If it were me, I would not get it for a RHR, as I have an eterinty with RB and when I wear it on my RH it is really uncomfortable. I like it in place of my WB on my left hand as it never bothers me there. I think it is because I am right handed, and of course do most things with my right hand and the stones interfere a lot, and pinch when I wear it on that hand. I also notice that I am really rough on it with my right hand, but not my left. Just something to consider.

Thanks so much for all of your input!! I should note that I went into this looking for a RHR. I reset my diamond a couple of years ago into a beaudry pave setting with matching band. Not sure how that would look as a RHR. Here is the pave band:

Oh, wow!

With Beaudry rings, I probably wouldn''t want to take them off to wear any other rings! So I guess I''d either wear the eternity ring on the right hand or get another kind of right hand ring! But I do think Kasey made a good point that a large eternity band on the right might be uncomfortable for a right handed person, not to mention the potential extra wear the ring might get.

I am most concerned with the wear. I tried on both the oval and emerald cuts at Harry Winston and the emerald was very uncomfortable but the oval was quite comfortable--the rounded corners made a huge difference and it isn''t quite as wide. The SA at Harry Winston thought I was crazy not to wear it on my left hand.

I just know that I am going to want to wear both rings at the same time and my ring fingers are a full size difference between right and left so I won''t be able to change my mind once I decide.....

Yes, I am in the same boat. I sure do wish I could wear the same size on both hands, too. But since eternity rings can''t really be resized, I think the right hand size is the safer bet, because you could always still wear it on the other hand if your ring size ever changed. That''s good to know the ovals were more comfortable than the emeralds.

I will add that I do think that Beaudry e-ring would be fine worn on the right hand, but then you''d have nothing to do with the wedding band, which would be a shame.

I think ovals are very stylish and you will get another one for you right hand. Who said it should be The One, it''s not an e-ring?

I originally didn''t really like oval eternity bands, but then I tried on a beautiful one! They are amazing in person and look very elegant and gorgeous on a person''s hand. I really changed my mind and I now love them. Emerald eternity bands are pretty too, but their performance in person is a little bland for my taste.

Well, since I love ovals I''d pick the oval eternity band. Emerald cuts are very beautiful also. Step cuts seem to lose their sparkle when dirty. That would be a concern for me when thinking of an eternity band.

that''s beautiful. i would wear it on my right hand and never take it off lol.

Great comments, thanks so much! If I were to move the beaudry to my right hand, what would you think about adding another pave band to the other side of the engagement ring? The ring is actually much daintier than the picture above.
