This vendor I know has offered me this 2 carat unheated one, which is certified by GIC. To me, the color looks bleak and the cut looks awful. Could someone confirm if my initial thoughts are correct?

I guess it all depends on the price, but I think your assumptions are very much correct - it looks purplish/brownish, silky, and really badly mangled ("cut"... let's say).

A padparadscha can be of a lighter/gentler tone - many labs won't even certify overly saturated hues as pads - but it shouldn't be too contaminated by under- and overtones like purple, red, brown or else it wouldn't normally qualify to be called one. To add to this; the stone above will most likely look pretty dim due to all the silk and a cut that leaves a lot to be desired.

Yes, that’s also what I thought. Thanks!!!!

I don't like the iron stains in the stone. From the pictures the stone is a bit brownish. With a super color I could accept the cut.
Pad should be a blend of orange and pink - you know this.

Not a pad for me. Most labs would not grade it a pad either because of the brownish cast. Even if it is classified a pad, I wouldn't pay a premium because of the color.

I'm with you - not the most attractive color or cut to me..

OP your thinking is correct. Not a pad, kinda weirdly icky. Its a weird drab brownish pink with very little sparkle. unheated or not, the poor thing just dosen't have any life.

I am going to be brutally honest and I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings. The stone is unattractive.

Just say no.
