I saw the Eighternity stones..WOWZA!

They were beautiful!
This was another great jeweler. She had an idealscope, a microscope..so many toys! I loved it!!!!
We''re going to go back on Saturday to look at stones. They are a custom designer and I emailed her pictues of all the rings I liked and she said she would quote me on some creations. She got me very excited because she said they do CAD and Wax moldings..everything in house. Custom may be another avenue.

She also talked about Palladium..how do you feel about it?

She was so funny, she told me to save on sales tax to have out of state friends or relatives send a check to the jeweler! She says people do it all the time. I was like..very interesting!

I know! I am a monster. Seriously, what am I doing to myself. Side by side though, I couldn''t pick the Eighternity versus the regular RB. Yes got to see H&A''s, it was great playing!
He was fine with it. He told me today he''s on board with a custom Michael B "imitation" ring cuz it''s obvious that''s the only thing that does it for me. The M.B band with that Leon bakset would be perfection! We''ll see what we can create!
She said the Palladium keeps the shine unlike platinum, never needs replating/reodium like white gold and for Pave I should try to stick with Platinum or Palladium. I saw a ring and I couldn''t tell the difference..may be a good option...

I have no idea what we are giong to do with me! I need severe help! Also, that LA jeweler sent some pictures via snail mail of similar rings to the M.B. Apparenlty he cannot work email! I''ll post those once I get em!

Did you hear what you just said?! Those are the most perfect words ever uttered. This is fantastic news. This means ... search over. You''ve worn down your bf already with this incessant ring talk. He''s learned that resistance is futile so he''s giving you your way. tee hee Your bf sounds sweet AND smart! He knows that you want that Michael B and he''s going to do anything to get it for you. I''m so happy. This should be fun. I don''t know anything about custom work but I''m thinking that it should be fairly easy, once you find a skilled or experienced designer, to get it done since you have so many pictures and know exactly what you are and are not looking for.

I can''t believe how excited I am for you. It is just so much fun to sort of go through this again ... It takes my mind off of not having my ring. I can''t tell you thanks enough for sharing with me. Additionally, it is so informative ... apart from looking at pretty pics, I''m actually learning new things since my ring and the stuff I had to learn for that are so different from yours.

Palladium sounds like a great option especially considering you couldn''t tell the difference. I''m assuming that it is much less expensive than Platinum ... but is it more affordable than say white gold as well?

I forgot about the LA jeweler. Too many things going on. So by the end of the week or so you should have some new "pretties" for me to check out. Woohoo!

I think he''s on board with custom because he hasn''t found anything that has made him go "wow" either, well besides the Michael B. The first jeweler has his whole collection and I keep going back there to try on..it''s SUCH torture!

Anyhoo, I''m not sure how much the custom job will be but I will find out on Saturday. I sent her the attached. What do you think about my horrible Photoshop skills?

To be honest, I don''t want to go with the LA jeweler. Too far and he NEVER calls back, you always have to call him..don''t like that too much.
I emailed the new lady that we are going to on Saturday my RB "paramaters" and she typed them in her inventory and out of thousands, only 4 came back!

I emailed her back and asked her if i need to change something (she is a bench jeweler and Gemolgist). I don''t think I do. To be honest, I really don''t want to go down in Color. BUT, you should have seen this I eighternity..it was so white. I could see the difference between the F normal RB. Those damn eighternitys...

told her they would not be in the budget but still nice to look at!

I forgot what she said price wise about Palladium...I''ll report back on Saturday. I think she said it may be higher than both or right in between? I didn''t expect to be in the jeweler so long and walked in with a bad impression because they were on the smaller side and didn''t have tons of settings but boy that was horrible of me! Glad I stuck around to chit chat.

You're too funny. I think all of us diamond or jewelry afficianados are the same ... gluttons for punishment unless we can actually afford to have whatever we want. As long as you still enjoy going in and trying them on and they have put a restraining order on you at that store, then do it. It's too much fun.

I love the way that you are so proactive now ... you're really getting into the groove. By sending her the pics she'll be able to have everything priced out for you by the time you go there on Saturday AND she will be able to possibly offer any suggestions for design. I LOVE you photoshop skills. Mine suck. Oh gosh, it's horrible that you posted that pic again b/c I just love that ring. I'm so glad I didn't know about it before I chose my setting ... it's gorgeous.

Really, I'm glad that you didn't want to go with the LA jeweler b/c it just sounds kind of sketchy, right ... Esp if he isn't returning your calls. If you are dealing with someone far away, you need them to be extra attentive, or at least I would. The not knowing what's going on and not being able to get in touch with someone is really nerve racking if they are responsible for coming through with your ring.

I'm with you ... I say, as appropriate, go down in clarity and save the higher color. If you can get stone that is truly eye-clean at the SI clarity level, why go higher? Now, if you have searched high and low and still cannot, then, that is where you have a problem ... you might need to go down a little in color to go up a little in clarity. F/SI1 or better yet, SI2 is a great combo. If I can offer you any unsolicited advice

it would be not to compromise on what you want ... within reason, of course. If you want F color, make sure you get F color and just find a stone that is within your budget,right?

The experience with the jeweler cracks me up. That's almost exactly what happened to me ... I think I told you earlier that I was dealing with one place ... it was really nice and they had drinks for you and nice sitting areas and tons of setting and friendly staff etc but they didn't have the diamond I was seeking ... My bf found this other place, Gemological, and wanted us to check it out. They are in an office building in the jewelry district and far different from what we had been experiencing ... I basically had my arms folded over my chest, brat! and didn't want to go ... When we went inside they didn't have a ton of settings, however, the diamonds she pulled for me were far superior and they could get me the setting so I too am glad that my bf forced me to give them a chance. I think with jewelers it is more about what they offer than what they look like on the outside .. after all, the maul stores often look great with nice displays and tons of stuff to choose from, however, the stuff they have is not necessarily something that you want. I am glad that you stuck around to chit chat as well.

We don't have any Vday plans yet really ... Not sure what we are going to do. Since we are long distance I know that we will likely spend that weekend together, however, not sure what we are going to do ... Hmmm ...

Glad I can be there for you ... I'm the same, I'm glad my bf was so into it and that I had really attentive jewelers and one jewelry loving friend b/c this way I had someone to share my excitement with ... Whenever I attempted to talk about the process or what I was looking for with my friends, they always had some kind of lame question for me like how much is that going to cost etc .. Not in an inquisitive way like they needed to know in order to compare for something they were thinking of purchasing but more of the why would you spend so much money on a ring etc. and exactly what you said ... why would you be involved in the process of selecting the ring etc. Blah, blah ... solved my problem. Just cut them out of the process. So, believe me, I'm happy to be there for you! Just let me know when you get bored of me.

We want to be married for a lifetime so however long it takes us to get there is fine. Anyways, to my story ... I''m thinking that he might be asking around the end of March or so. Now I might be building myself up for no reason, however, just last week he did something that was completely out of character. He asked me if I wanted to go to a concert at the end of March. It''s an artist that I love and I told him about a couple of years ago when I went to one of his concerts in Philly when I was visiting a friend. My bf NEVER makes plans ahead of time. That''s my department. Given this, I got a little suspicious. Also, he doesn''t like this artist or always says he doesn''t anyways so ... I wouldn''t care either way if we went but he made a point of "inviting" me and telling me that I would have to be there that weekend etc ... What do you think?

I am moving to Seattle. I love it there. It''s been a long time coming. We''ve been dating for 14 years this year but I''ve been doing my undergrad and then grad degree so now is the perfect timing. It used to be a lot easier when we were younger b/c we had so many other things going on. Now, we just want to be with each other and enjoy the normal things that couples enjoy together. After we finish with all the immigration garbage and expenses that are eating into my bling budget

, it will be a bit of an adjustment to be in the same place together all the time, however, we''ll work through the challenges and it will be fantastic!

If it is on Vday ... I will be totally surprised but likely not my friend so it is March for you! Haha, sucker!

He came up to visit this past weekend and it was a surprise so my friend thought it might be it ... but I knew it wasn''t so I laughed at her. She even went so far to have her husband bring his camera to dinner!! Crazy folk.

He is such a great guy. He actually went shopping for me and bought me a new pair of shoes and a business suit. He knows that I''m looking for a new job and found some stuff that suited me and got it for me. He''s always doing stuff like that ... So sweet! Can you believe that he always nails the size every time! The shoes and the suit fit perfectly. It''s nuts. I can barely do that when I go shopping for myself.

My bf laughs at me incessantly b/c I posted my pic. He teases me relentlessly. You have no idea. It''s not me to do that but it just felt right ... Maybe b/c I was super excited about finding PS and then I was disclosing all this info about us and our process to find the perfect diamond and ring etc, I just wanted people to know who they were talking to ... That changed as soon as I posted the pic!!

It was HUGE! It looked poster or real life size and I was like ... how do I change this???!!! Admin resized it for me but I often consider scaling it down more or just asking them to delete it period. For the most part, I just try to forget its there and hope that no psycho internet freak is looking at me.

You know what I was thinking ... Since I have no idea when this is going to happen, I''m going to have to start having my nails done again regularly. I had sort of let them fall by the wayside but I will be darned if it happens and my hands & fingernails are not in tip top shape and ready for it.

I know, I haven''t done any other diamond looking! At this point I''m leaning towards the a custom one. We''ll see how Saturday goes and then it may be something completley different. Although, when I went to this most recent jeweler they had a very inexpensive ($700) ering that was just shared prong. It was very nice with the matching band. It wasn''t my pave but it was pretty. I bet the bf would want that one seeing how it''s much cheaper!

I like the Gonshor one however, if you purchase you cannot return it. Not sure if I would like it on my hand. If I go to BB&B on Friday (which I plan to as long as the snow stays away) we''ll see if I like the Ritani on my hand because the Gonshor is very similar...
