This is great news! What a relief!! I'm so happy and relieved for you. I am certain that you would have been just fine but it sure is nice to know that you don't have to worry about it anymore. AND a promotion to boot! Good for you!

When do you start in the new position? Dratted ... I finally explained to my cousin how we "know" each other and he's probably going to think I'm some sort of psycho now. Oh well! He won't be too far off.

Doesn't matter ... I'm just glad that job situation has all been sorted out for you. I bet you and the bf will be celebrating. Woohoo!

On my end of things, I just found out today that I didn't get the job for which I applied a while ago. Took them forever to get back to me. I had 2 interviews with them ... First one was for 1 1/2 hrs and the second was 2 hrs. After investing that kind of time, it would have been nice to know sooner, however, I'm okay with not getting that job. I was hoping to secure this position solely for the "experience" and increase in wages ... my heart wasn't into it. Still sucks being "rejected" though, right? Also, not certain as to whether or not my dept will be shut down at work so not sure if I should keep looking for other jobs or if I should keep my fingers crossed and pray to get packaged out. Life! Definitely not boring, right?! I think that I will keep looking b/c I do need a higher paying job to support my lifestyle and jewelry habit. Horrible!

I forgot to mention that when I was with Mary, I brought her the diamond and setting that I got for my mom at Christmas time and gave her the original setting. We're going to have the "ring" appraised once complete, however, before doing so, I have asked her to change out the head on my mom's original setting and have the diamond reset in the the original setting. I'm really excited about this. Hopefully it will come out better than my mom could ever have imagined. I haven't told her yet so it should be a nice surprise.

Th bf is yelling at you ... Funny! Story of my life. Someone is always yelling at me to get off the computer when I am on PS. I don't pay attention when people call etc, etc. so they get annoyed. Oh well ... suck it up, sunshine. Leave me alone .. I'm on PS, this is serious business.

No pics for you yet ... remember, I have a meeting tonight and was up at 3:30 this morning to drive back home in order to get to work on time this morning ... All in all a long day! I so don't want to go to this meeting. I'm the President of the Board where I live and I have a Board Meeting tonight. I'm just not in the mood to listen to the griping and complaining ... likely b/c I only want to complain. Boo!

I had my new dr appointment this morning and all I could concentrate on was this doctors rings. Woah daddy they were beautiful! From what I could estimate she had a 2.5-3.0 Cushion cut solitare and then this beautiful large Pave band. Very intricate and very detailed! I of course complimented her before I left. My god, my bling obsession is even taking over my yearly doctor visits!

Thank goodness she had some jewelry on to help take your mind off of things. Her ring sounds drool worthy. I was laughing b/c I can totally imagine myself fixating on her ring and losing track of everything else and trying to come up with a way of not sounding rude or like a total loser by asking tons of questions about it.

There is NO diamond lovers anonymous. It is a gift not a burden... said in the throes of denial. There should be but then life would be so boring. What would I do with the extra 4 hours or whatever in my day if I didn''t love diamonds and jewelry and have to spend every free moment on PS?!

I''m so embarrassed about my cousin. Poor guy hasn''t responded since. He''s probably just trying to figure out some sort of intervention or talking to the rest of my family about how they can get me to stop talking to strangers online. I guess your bf knows about your "secret" friend. Does the think it''s strange or does he issue words of caution?

No problem about the job ... The company wasn''t one I really wanted to work for so as they say everything happens for a reason. By the way, why do they take so long anyways! My company is the absolute worst at that. Even when I have been involved in the hiring process, it takes forever to get a new hire on board and even longer to tell the "unsuccessful" candidates about their failure to secure the position. That is so annoying. People should be told as soon as possible so that they can get on with their lives!! The bf is super supportive and just wants me to be happy. He can''t wait for me to get down there so that I can get a job down there. He thinks that I am way underpaid and undervalued. I have to say I agree with him!

I haven''t signed up for the Diamond Grading Lab yet but I''m actually considering, thinking about doing the Graduate Gemologist program in full ... Not positive yet, however, it might be something I should consider. I would love to be able to work with jewelry in a professional capacity and I think that it would really diversify my skill set and resume in a positive way. I could definitely apply a lot of the knowledge & experience I presently have to the field of jewelry. I''m thinking about it ... I''m getting excited. Instead of banking, I would love to be passionate about my work!

I will show you my mom''s original ring when it is "finished" ... No idea how long that is going to take but I will keep you updated. If Mary sends me any pics, I''ll let you know.

Sooo not! Just means that you have to listen to all the nonsense and try to fix it or delegate work to others to fix things. The meeting was 2 hrs last night. It was wild despite a well planned agenda and control over the crowd. Madness and mayhem I tell you. So glad it''s over. I just know that based on the stuff that we were dealing with last night, there will be some fall out and long meetings in the weeks to come. I can''t wait until my term is over. This is my second and final year ... for now anyways. I just can''t do it another year. Aggh!

I am really glad that I have signed up for it as well! I know it will be super informative and that I will enjoy it but I can''t help but wish I had a little friend to join as well. I can''t convince any of my friends. Jerks.

I am thinking that maybe I will wait to see how that goes before I decide whether or not I''m interested in doing the full Graduate Gemologist program. There is some money involved so I just don''t want to throw it away, right? Or, who knows ... maybe I will start out with the Diamonds portion of the course, in addition to the lab I have signed up for and decide from there. Hmm? Not sure. I''m just so excited that I don''t want to wait.

I think I am going to see the boy this weekend but it''s a little up in the air given that the funeral planning is still underway. It seems to be one of those confusing too many people involved type things. He hasn''t even booked a ticket yet!

b/c he doesn''t know when the funeral is going to be and hasn''t arranged any time off etc. It sounds super confusing and not as though the most organized person is running with everything. I hate funerals. I always feels so bad when people have to organize and try to coordinate things for such a sad occassion.

If I decide to do the Graduate Gemologist (GG) program, I''ll be a jewelry professional of sorts. I think that to become reputable you require many years of experience. For me, gaining the knowledge piece will enable me to enter into the jewelry world with some confidence and start to gain that real world experience. I should be able to leverage both my customer service and managerial skills in a "perfect" role in that world as well - NOT a maul store job. Not quite sure what that role looks like yet, however, I''m sure I''ll figure it out along the way. I''m actually researching that right now. Haven''t quite decided if I''m going to go that route but it is so exciting to me to think about doing something that makes me happy and that I am passionate about. It would feel great to be able to go to work everyday doing something I love and not just something to make money.

I'm sure you will figure it out and it will be a great career that you are passionate about. Who could ask for more in life? Ohh I would love to do Marketing for a huge jewelry/diamond conglomerate like Tiffany's or DeBeers..can you imagine?
New role starts in April! Some stuff similar to what I'm doing now but with more/different projects. Yeah I'm excited...mixed emotions I guess!

How was your weekend? Anything interesting happen?

Oh yes! I think it would be great to do marketing for a jewelry or diamond conglomerate. So much fun!

April, huh? Hmm ... That''s a good transition time. Gives you some time to finish up the stuff you are working on and then beef up your knowledge for the new role, right?

I had a busy weekend ... Went car shopping with the bf b/c his present car needed some repairs etc and he wanted to get something more reliable. He ended getting this great little used gold Mercedes. I love it. He knows that I''m eyeing it up. I might have to trade cars with him. It''s just so cute and perfect for me.

After all of this I got to indulge myself by checking out some jewelry. I went to Jared''s just b/c I saw an ad they had for some new chocolate pearls w/ chocolate diamond accents. Gorgeous! Dying. Then again, I also so this phenom Rolex! I want it. Boo! Bf''s MB purchase bit into any bling budget that I could have siphoned off to get the choc pearls and earrings.

Oh -- I had to retn my watch that he got me for V-day. It was the weirdest thing. It ended up looking like someone dragged it across concrete or something. The store was just like what the heck happened?! I just wore it for last week, never dropped it or mistreated it or anything. I don''t know what happened.

I just told the bf since I am working on so many jewelry projects etc, to use the money that he spent on that to get a watch for himself b/c he loves them ... and we ended up finding him a great one. I''m sure that he will get me something down the line that I really want, b/c I didn''t really need that watch, right? I already have one that I love ... Now, if it was that Rolex??! We might be in business. I''d have to work something out.

I didn''t get to see Mary this weekend but I gave her a call and she said that that Diamond Grading Lab that I''ve signed up for is fantastic and she had a great time doing it. She says I will LOVE it! I can''t wait! Also, I gathered up all my old gold stuff and I''m going to give it to her next time I see her so that we can get started on my Tiffany Etoile type bangle. Woo hoo!

Oh poor BF! The flu sucks. So sweet of you for taking care of him. I can''t really say much since I''m such a huge baby when I''m sick. I''m sure he really appreciates you taking care of him ... just as long as he knows he has to retn the favor.

I''ve haven''t gotten anything new at all ... I have so many things in my head that I haven''t actually purchased any of it or I would be living ont he streets with it all. I haven''t forgotten the pics but I just haven''t gotten around to it yet. The pics of the 3 ctw diamond studs was just not as nice as they were in person so I didn''t want to post them for you just in case you thought they were horrible. They were just so pretty in person.

I just signed up for the "theory" part of the class today b/c I figured I might as well do that in the interim while I''m waiting to do the lab grading class. I should be able to start this in about 5 - 7 days. Hey, who knows, maybe I''ll get you to help me with my homework.

I know what you mean about your gold having sentimental value. It''s so hard to part with it, especially if it was given with love or from someone special etc but I only have a few pieces like that and I figure that I can keep the really special pieces and melt down the other ones to make something special and new so that they can "live" on.

Hey, if you do decide to melt it down, you can go and visit your jeweler! This will give you and excuse to go back in and play some more, right?

Found out almost 100% about the job thing I was telling you about. It''s totally hush hush and no one is saying anything about it so I don''t know when yet but it''s coming. I''m kind of happy but not really as well since it makes me feel pretty vulnerable at the prospect of losing my job regardless of whether or not I can find one elsewhere etc. Actually, in all honesty, I''m feeling somewhat stressed about it now. Oh well, no use in that. Haven''t even heard anything official yet. When and if there is something to worry about I will do it then.

You should ask the jeweler if they can melt down yellow gold and make it into white. I have a feeling that they would be able to just by adding more of whatever it is that makes it etc. I may be wrong but it''s definitely worth asking about.

I actually used to LOVE soap operas when I was younger. That was my teenage PS. I was addicted. I even taped some of them. I know ... it''s a sickness. I got over that real quick when I realized that the storyline is always the same and if you don''t watch for 2 years you can come back and still pick up the pieces pretty quickly. Which ones do you watch? My mom still loves Y&R.

Come on! By the way, I love pepsi too! Really good bread is always such a treat. I love it. That''s one of my fave things to do in the summer. Go to this place here called Granville Island. It''s a public market w/tons of fresh fruit and breads and cheese etc. Pick up some stuff and eat it in the sunshine overlooking the fantastic view. Ahhh!

You know how crazy I am?! I loved that Edible Arrangements basket so much that I bought 2 of them. I got one for Will and one for Mary. For Will, to tell him how much I love him "just because" and for Mary to tell her thanks for all the stuff she does for me and basically just for putting up with my demanding self. I thought that they were such a good idea. Too bad I''m not close enough to grab a bite.

Glad you were happy with the pics! That''s all for now. I didn''t realize that I didn''t take really any at all. I guess I really just got too carried away. What a surprise, right? I WILL get ear shots next time.

Weekend was okay. I went diamond shopping with my friend. She is looking for an *upgrade* ... is that a magic word or what?! She wants to upgrade to either an approx 3 ct round or 2.25 or so oval. I was so surprised but we found crazy quality diamonds this weekend. I did some research before we went, however, several B&M''s here in Vancouver had AGS0 diamonds and knew exactly what I was talking about and were more than happy to please. It was crazy goodness! I think she is more leaning towards oval than round now so we''ll see what happens. I didn''t realize it before but ovals give mad finger coverage. Really good bang for your buck since they tend to run a little less than rounds! It was seriously fun. No pics though. Had the camera but just didn''t take any. Since these were new B&M''s, I didn''t want to look ridiculous snapping pics etc. ... Next time. She may be going to see Mary in Seattle so, if so, I will snap some shots for you then!

The weather was gorgeous and "warm" here this weekend as well. I couldn''t believe that we were walking around with no jackets on! So nice and sunny. You just feel better when the weather is like that. Now, if I didn''t have to get my car serviced and replace both my front and rear brakes and take a big chunk out of my bling budget

, it would have been better, however ... all in all, not a bad weekend.

I have a love hate relationship with reality TV ... It''s horrible. Yes, I admit it. I''m addicted to ANTM as well ... amongst several others. Bad! What do you think of this years models?

YES! They loved, loved, loved the arrangements! They were SO happy and it made my day. I couldn''t believe how excited I was to give someone else something. It is such a good feeling and my bf said that it made his day and I was tearing up thinking that that was great and I would do anything to make him happy since he''s been having a rough go of it lately. Sappy. Oh well .. .mission accomplished.

I''m getting crabbier by the minute with the whole job nonsense. I''m fairly certain the entire executive level/mgmt level is aware, however, no one is saying anything and it''s irritating to know that people are talking about you or deciding your fate and not involving you in the process. I just can''t get motivated to go to work when it feels like it is not valued anyways. Agh. It''s just a matter of waiting now. I think that if/when it does happen, I will take my package and skip along down south and start looking at employment down there. Right now, I''m just trudging along.

I must share this horibble experience that happened to me last night. So I''m going to do some recycling in the garage when all of a sudden I see a mouse run across the floor. YUCK!

I hate mice, they gross me out. Bugs I''m fine with but not mice. So of course now I''m freaking out worried it''s going to get into the house...YUCK!

Drives me crazy just thinking that they nasty little rodent is in my garage getting his nasty varmit germs all over our stuff!

Sorry, I do not deal well with mice. Ok, I''m done, rant over!

I''m not a huge fan of this years models. After watching the first episode I was like..ok..there''s a bit too much drama already..I do agree and I think that one girl who thinks she''s hot stuff, looks a bit manish..I missed part of last weeks! Forgot to TIVO. What do you think about them?

We said no gifts but I couldn''t help myself and bought him a casual shirt and some Lacoste cologne that we both really liked!

I put together a collection of jewelry and watches that I would like to bring in to cash in. I wonder if they will take the watches or not. I tried selling the Movado on ebay but got no bites. I also have a gold Gucci with the color changeable plates that I''ve NEVER worn, still in the box. Maybe I''ll try ebay on that one...hmm..

I never would have admitted it to myself previously but I think that I too am self-conscious when taking pics at the jewelers. I''m scared that people will think I''m a crackhead. I don''t so much care about that but I feel bad for the bf or for my friend or whoever. Don''t want to class "down" the joint, you know. Too bad that there''s not usually anything worth taking pics of a at a maul store.

Thanks for understanding about the job thing. I''m feeling upset and grumpy and just down. Everything makes me feel like crying. I just feel like I am losing control of my destiny and it''s not a good feeling. I''ve boiled it down to just being resistant to change and the opportunities it is presenting me. I guess if there was a formal communication about it, I could make definitive plans but since it is still so secret, secret and no one is supposed to know anything about it, I keep on thinking that it may not happen and this is delaying my "response" so to speak. I''m not giving you the boot at all. I actually really enjoy being able to talk to you even though we don''t know each other. You''re a good "ear" and something to look forward to everyday. I try to avoid talking about this stuff with people in "my circle" or friends/family etc since they don''t necessarily share my love of jewelry and all this job stuff is not concrete and I don''t want to freak anyone out, right? I''m glad you like the taking the package and joining the bf option. I really think it will be the for the best. Scary but nothing worth doing or having didn''t have at least a little risk involved, right?

You never know where your love/passion for jewelry will take you. I say do it, you don't want to have any regrets in life, especially in the career field, take chances..you just never know!
I went through a quarter life crisis a couple years back and said, Hey - Marketing doesn't make a difference in the world, I've always been intrigued by healthcare and I think I want to do something in it. So I quit a good job I had and went back to school full time for Nursing. It was great and I loved it. It was so different from anything I had done and I felt like I was doing something with meaning and purpose. However, I had a family tradegy which forced me to quit because the measly part time job wage as a CNA wasn't bringing in the money and I went back to Marketing. However, I think all things happen for a reason. I now realize this is where I belong. I missed the "creative" aspect when I was in nursing..but hey at least I can say I tried and have no regrets. PLUS, now I can take your blood if needed! Hee hee! I learned a lot and wouldn't take back that experience for anything.
Sorry for the babbling, bottom line whatever your current employer says to you, I say you follow your heart. Go down to Seattle and be with your bf, enjoy each other and take those Gem courses!

What type of nursing did you specialize in? While you enjoy marketing again and missed it ... do you miss nursing as well? I admire nurses so much. I could never, ever do it!! They are definitely not well enough compensated ... same as teachers! Hello! First things first....we caught the mouse! Woo hoo! When we got back from dinner the little bugger was in the trap!

Sorry to be happy about that but they are gross and I want them no where near me! I''m going to put down another JUST IN CASE more are lurking around!

Dinnner was so yummy and bf loved his gifts. He yelled at me for buying him stuff but he still loved them! I got some beautiful red roses and a nice card! It was a nice night!

If I get a new car I want one with all wheel drive. So my choices seem to be the Dodge Avenger, a Lexus and an Audi. I''m afraid the Lexus and Audi are more than I want to spend on a car. So we''ll see!
