Pancake''s Pebble! (ERD EC + Holloway Diamonds)

I received my ring a couple of days ago and am thrilled to be wearing it!

The EC is a 1.20ct E VS2 with excellent polish and very good symmetry, measuring 7.26 x 5.12 x 3.34. Dan at ERD found this stone for me and I could not have been more thrilled with it when it arrived some weeks ago! It is a lively little thing and both my partner and I were stoked

Once the stone arrived we took it to Holloway Diamonds to have it set. Apart from the obvious advantages (ie beautiful work and great customer service), it also happens to be a 2 minute drive from our house, so even the logistics worked out well! (We also got a bottle of champagne with our rings...a nice little touch!)

We were treated with kindness, respect and good humour throughout both processes - sourcing the stone and having the ring made. We are delighted with the final product and I have been ogling it non-stop since

The setting is a simple cathedral (no tapering) on a 3.2mm half-round band in platinum. The finishing is beautiful! My style is important to me and accordingly I wanted something simple, sleek, not TOO delicate, and that would make the stone pop.

I only have a point and shoot, and I am a terrible photographer! Nevertheless...

In profile; I work with kids in a fairly active line of work (I also wear gloves a lot) so it made sense to go with a cathedral to prevent it catching - lucky it''s also the look I like!

This last one was the result of my attempt to catch the detail of the steps whilst using digital macro - still not the best photo, but kind of cool (I covered the flash to prevent glare).

Last, but not least - the proposal ring, lying on the canvas which my partner proposed with

I didn''t realise that the pics would turn out that huge - or that the stone had been a bit dirty in them! Oh well...

I''ll take some pics in some different lighting in the next couple of days, because the direct sunlight makes the stone look darker than it is - whereas in most lighting conditions it is bright bright BRIGHT! Even in a dark stairwell it picks up whatever is available and is clearly visible doing its sparkly thing
