Hello everyone
35.gif

Not sure if anybody remembers but about a month ago I was considering a 1.01ct GIA cert Pear cut diamond, I colour, SI2 with strong blue fluor. I was concerned at (a) the I colour - worried it may be a little too yellow and (b) the SI2 grading. However, I really wanted a "big look" diamond and so the dimensions were very important because I wanted an elongated pear rather than a chubby cut but without a bowtie (or a very minimal one). A friend who is a diamond dealer managed to find this stone and with dimensions of 9.20 x 5.65 x 3.25 and a price of £1,343 it's a bit of a no brainer!

It arrived yesterday and I'm thrilled. The fluor makes the diamond very white indeed and despite having a small carbon spot (which is hidden nicely under a facet) the diamond is virtually eye clean and the bow tie is minimal. However, my one problem is that I think I was expecting a much bigger diamond and I'm worried that it'll be lost on my chubby hands

I'm attaching photos so you can see for yourself but what I'd really like some help with (please) is some design ideas. I want the ring to look larger but don't want a halo. I'd like a modern look with some substantial side diamonds or shank (although not so big that the central diamond is overwhelmed). I'm veering towards a double baguette side setting but would love to hear your ideas. REALLY sorry about the greasy marks on the diamonds - note to self, clean diamonds before taking photos!

Many thanks in advance.

So you can see how it looks on my hand ..........

Here''s a pic of the fluor - isn''t it cool?

It''s very nice.

Nice stone! For the setting, I think I'd do a pave split shank since you already have a 3 stone.
Something like this
The stone they're showing it with is a 2ct but look at the hand view.

Elle that''s lovely. It''s not something I''ve considered but I can see how it''d work. I think I''d want a V prong at the end though. Thanks very much. Great suggestion.

Really pretty fluoro picture and beautiful stone!

That''s a nice pear. They are tricky!

Jessica Simpson ring? 3-stone w/pears. Yes you already have a 3-stone but that is step cuts with a different look.

Or a superdelicate halo with pave on the band, possibly bands?

Hi Cara

I thought about 3 stone pears but I''m not sure if the sides overtake the look a bit. I''ve seen a lovely one (on this site I think) but just not sure if it''s "me" or not.

I''ve already got a halo with pave - exactly as you describe - but with an Alexandrite central stone - which is why I don''t want a halo. If I hadn''t had that ring I think I probably would have gone for something along those lines.

Thanks very much. Love the ideas.

Lovely shape, beautiful florescence.

Its beautiful

Lovely pear!

Thanks everybody for your suggestions and comments.

I''ve been playing and playing and playing with the pear, putting it over different settings and I''ve done a complete 360!!! While abroad recently I bought a setting that I''d never seen before. It''s white gold with yellow gold hinges and the shank pivots from side to side so basically it adjusts to your finger and is incredibly comfortable. The one I have is for an RB but I''m thinking that the pear may look lovely in this setting. What do you think?

Here it is .........

Obviously the head will be different but here is a top shot

That fluorescence is awesome!! Love it!
