Pearls on Guys

So I work at a place we will call Giant State University which has many diverse students. No joke - on Monday, first day of classes I saw a young man wearing a strand of pearls. I don''t think it was a frat dare or anything because they matched his whole ensemble and he looked quite fashionable. Then I saw another man wearing a pearl solitaire on a leather necklace. Is this a trend?

Weeell. DH wore a teeny tiny pearl in his one piercing for our Hawaii wedding, but that''s about as far as I''ve seen the men and pearls go. Odd.

Not sure if I am into a man wearing pearls as they seem so feminine to me. Now with the exception of Gecko''s DH, I think that would be appropriate and perfect for a Hawaiin wedding. I bet it looked cool in a masculine kinda way!

I have never seen a man wear a strand of pearls but I have seen some men wearing beautiful single pearls - generally tahitians - with a black silk cord. It looks great on a guy!!

ETA: My mother tried to tell me the comb on my veil was showing, and I just didn't care, LOL. Could totally kick myself now. Oh well.

A drop dead gorgeous gay guy I went to college with wore a strand of pearls every now and then. It worked for him- his sense of style was pretty amazing, somewhat flamboyant but not too over the top. He was in my theater makeup class and taught me how to pluck my eyebrows better

and introduced me to MAC. This all would have been in the mid ''90s.

Except when I want to strangle him, but whatever.

Interestingly enough, he wanted to wear the little pearl again for a wedding we were in in July (Bridesmaids were in pearls) and the bride vetoed it. *shrug*

I''ve never seen a guy wearing a strand of pearls, but to each his own. My brother, however, wore my great grandfather''s tie clip for his wedding, which was a single pearl sitting in the middle of the tie. It looked great! Plus, the suit was an old fashioned suit as well, so it looked extra cool. I wonder if I have a picture of it.

Intresting topic.

It has been my experience that men love pearls. A couple years back at the AGTA show in Tucson the one of the biggest trends in jewelry was men wearing stands of pearls.

I exhibit at art shows and have sold numerous pearl bracelets and necklaces to men. Mostly south sea blacks and goldens. And I can tell you, on the right man they look sexy.

LOL!! I would be intimidated by him. He definitely would be better dressed then me!! I think he plays with the other team anyways, not that there is anything wrong with that!

I prefer men that gives me the pearls, not wears them, t/y!

I have seen gay men wear a small strand of pearls, nothing huge though.

I also believe the whole leather choker with one pearl thing is being marketed world wide, I just heard about it not long ago, but i cannot for the life of me think of what the brand was.

I''ve heard of guys wearing leather chocker with a pandora charm on it also!
