The salon I went to today was GREAT. Very happy. DF forgot the camera. So these are camera phone pics...

Here''s the Paloma Blanca I went to try on:

And the other Paloma I was hoping they''d have.

Here''s the Mikaela that got unclipped at the top (so the top is gaping wide at the chest) while the pic was snapped apparently.

Here''s the other Mikaela.

Paula Varsalona...

Paula Varsolona- my absolute favorite on you!!! The second one is lovely, too!!!

Amber! The Paula V is my fiance''s LEAST favorite. Which is funny. Really funny.

Maybe because it''s the most perfectly fitted (looking), it just really shows off the shape of you, IMHO. Why doesn''t he like it? I can relate to that, my fiance hates wedding dresses with sashes, and I LOVE them. I think he''ll learn to love it.

They''re all lovely...my favorites are the first and the last one. One good thing about this board is I get to live vicariously through all the ladies trying on tons of dresses, I only tried on six or so and then picked the one i liked the best since I was moving overseas and didn''t have much time. Are you going to get one of these dresses? Or will you try on more at another store first?

Gypsy : )

YAY you''re trying on dresses!! Hope everything''s going okay for you - how goes the job hunting? OK, that''s a thread-hijack, but I''ve been wondering what you''re up to : )

As to the dressees...
-1st Paloma Blanca: I love it! Awesome fitting, and I love the top, especially the bow in a slightly different shade.
-2nd Plaoma Blanca: I love this one too! Probably my favorite! It fits you the best, shows off your body in a beautiful way. Like how the skirt hangs - looks natural and great.
-1st Mikaela: maybe it''s b/c it got unclipped, but it just doesn''t look great on top. Just kind-oh-boring and a bit loose? I''m sure alterations could improve it, but the bottom is a bit boring too
-2nd Mikaela: not a huge fan - the slight texture isn''t my favorite, and the little flower on the hip isn''t my fave either - but the dress fits you very nicely and shows your great figure!
-Paula Varsalona: kind of blah in my opinion - the extra fabric at the waist doesn''t appeal to me... why make that area bigger than absolutely necessary?

But they all look fabulous... you''re going to look great : )

BTW: I LOVE that you brought your Fiance with you. I think its a great thing to share together : )

I love the first Paloma Blanca on you! Gorgeous!

The gowns. Honestly? I'm exhausted. I just want to pick one already. #2 fits the best because it was my size... the rest of the samples were too small by a size or two. I love number one-- but the neckline is static on that. With number #2 I can get the neckline altered to a slight dip contour-- same with the second Mikaela. I'm not sorry FI doesn't like the Paula V... it's the most expensive. I do want to try one other one on AGAIN-- I've already tried it on once but the sample was too small and it's more fitted than these... but I don't have a pic of me in it... and the pics are REALLY important. It's another Paloma. It looks good on me. I remember that. But I don't know if it looks BETTER on me than these do. But the shop is about 10 minutes from my current job-- so I *might* call and see if they allow photos. We'll see. LOL. But I'm 90% sure it's going to be one of these so your comments are GREATLY appreciated.

Aussie. I'm doing a 4 week project. Got promoted to an advanced sub-project in 3 days this time. . Stupid temp agency keeps calling and saying, "they love you there." Which of course means that everything is bound to go wrong. But it's only 20 minutes from my house-- and I get home at 6:30 so I'm not complaining. Still looking for long term work.

Jester-- I've tried on 100's of gowns. Seriously. Long story. But we've planned two weddings already... and I have one gown I bought-- but is too formal for this wedding-- already. I'm just... worn out. For my price range, location, and tastes this bridal shop is great and so is their selection.

Still undecided though.

Paloma one-- can't get a neckline change.
Palmona two--shantug silk... stiffish so I'm not loving the skirt although I LOVE the top.
Mikeala one-- looked good pinned but is too ... casual I think.
Mikeala two-- cheapest gown, can get the neckline changed at the shop by their seamstress and it looks nice. Flower would go. Promise.
Paula V... think it makes my waist too big. And really... my waist is one of my biggest assets.

Paloma I haven't got a pic of myslef in... slimming lines, lace I love and either has the neckline I want-- or can be altered to it. I'm gonna have to go to the shop and try it on again, aren't I?

The Mikaela that got unclipped--- in your size would probably be stunning! I really liked it. Do you think it''s too casual? My second choice is your first Paloma. Oooooh, these are all stunnning dresses, though!

Definitely the second Paloma, #2. It looks amazing on you!

Yes, go back and try on the other one! Hee hee. Take pictures! My FI ended up going dress shopping with me, it was good though, he could take pictures and let me know if he liked the three I tried on there. The weird thing was that it was the weekend we introduced our parents to each other, so if I''d done it the day before my mom and his mom could have come along...instead we did it after we left his parents house, on our way out of town, so it was just me and him.

Wow, beautiful gowns! How do I pick? I guess I like the first one a bit better than the others, but they are all so beautiful. The first one looks antique and I just love it. However, the one with the straps makes your waist look the smallest. Seriously, all of them look incredible on you.

Definitely like the P. Varsalona!

it''s a tough choice, but my vote is for the second mikaela. i think it''s elegant and very flattering. i must admit i''m not crazy about the flower, but i''m just not a flower person.

Gypsy - I don''t know if it''s bc it was your size, but I am loving #2 on you... in fact it is quite similar to my own gown, so perhaps that''s why I''m partial, but I love how it accentuates your tiny waist.

BTW, I ordered my paloma blanca online thru rkbridal.com for 1/3 off retail and was very happy w/the service I got..

1- um, no. i don''t care for the belt around your waist. i think that you need a dropped waist to show off how slim that area is!
2- LOVE this gown. it''s perfect. i love how it''s simple but it''s still interesting. fits beautifully. love the lines. show''s your great figure the best!
3- no loving this one at all. my least fave. i don''t care for this sort of neckline.
4- it seems like it''s trying to get to the perfection of no. 2, but it''s just lacking or maybe it''s trying too hard?
5- my second fave. again, it accentuates your waist very nicely.

I love # 5. I love the mix of the 2 colors, it just looks richer. It also accentuates your figure very well. #2 is nice too, but visually to my eye, I prefer 5.

I keep debating whether to take my FI with me or not dress shopping...I mean, we picked the ring, and we do everything else together, so why not? I really value his opinion. Although, I dont plan on going shopping till at least the late fall. I went to the mall yesterday, and went to try on some stuff, and boy, were those 3-way mirrors in Bloomies not nice to me!!!! I have like lbs and lbs to lose before I can even think of trying on gowns!

What store did you go to, Gypsy?

I like the 5th one. You have such a tiny waist!

~~I like the second Mikaela...

I am totally biased because the first Paloma was one of my faves that I tried on...

But I do love that one on you. I think it is very flattering and soft. The only thing I hated about it when I tried it on was the lace at overlay on the bodice would rub under my arms and after just trying it on would have little marks. I imagined after wearing it all day I''d have some pretty raw underarms from the top of that lace. Might be something for you to think about.

I also love that Mikaella that you thought was too casual. I thought that it would be very flattering and the small details brought it out of casual into elegant (ruching at waist, pick ups along side).

I REALLY like the first dress.. Its sooo pretty.. I like the last one too.. but the first is DEFINITELY my favorite.. I''m a lace fanatic though...

I like #2 the second Paloma Blanca.
Simple, sophisticated, and fits you nicely.

Scintillating...

They all look lovely on you!! But I really, really love #1

I'm loving how everyone is voting for different gowns. It makes me feel better cause I am having a tough time choosing. I made an appointment with the other shop for tommorow... but they don't allow photos so I'm irritated as all hell. BS reason too. Cause they are afraid of people knocking off the gowns... say the designers are the ones who have asked them to block photos. MY AUNT FANNY! Paloma's gowns are photographed IN DETAIL all over the internet. I asked the to make an exception. We'll see.

I do love the softer look of the first one. But I also really love the TOP half of the second. It's the drape of the skirt of that one I'm not sure on. The second one does have lace. You just can't tell from that photo. Discreet asymetrical appliques.

Dani-- True Love Bridals in Matawan was the shop I liked. I told the woman flat out that her Palmona prices were insane and she agreed. LOL. I told her I could get the Paloma's for XX dollars from another local shop (which I can... one of the Paloma shops here will do cash and carry for the same price as RK)-- She said she'd work with me on the price. So... I'm inclined to pay the sales tax and get the gown there b/c 1) she dyes shoes (I have shoes needing to be dyed) 2) she's close to me 3) no hassle finding a seamstress. Worth 70 bucks to me. IF she follows through. Her Paula Varasalona gowns were VERY well priced though. It's a small fussy cluttered store STUFFED with gowns. It's not high society-- but it's got nice service and you get to pick yor gown. They don't provide foundations garments though... so bring your own.

The Mikealla with the straps is growing on me though. ARGH!!! The second Mikaella I'm not loving. And today the Paula looks better to me. OY!

Incidentally here''s another Paula I tried on... hate the pickups in the skirt... (gown could be ordered without)... but I didn''t post it because I think it would do that foldy-wrinkley thing under the boobs--- it''s already doing it in the pic.

I agree with him.

I LOVE the second dress on you - positively STUNNING!

I think the third would look nice in the right size.

I'm not a fan of #5, I think it makes your waist look bigger instead of accentuating it. In a strange way, the different fabric seems to cut you in half.
