thanks everyone! Westjenn, yes, they are natural sapphires from Simply Sapphires. They heated, but I''m fine with heat treating since untreated would have been way more money! And Yekutiel - thanks! These are much closer to what I originally had in mind - I think my local guy did a good job on them. They''ll sit nice and low on my ears.

Now I have to give them up for a few days so hubby can wrap them and I''ll actually have a gift to open on Christmas!

thanks so much everyone! I wore them yesterday and even though nobody in my family went gaga over them (they have no clue what it took to make these little things!) I still think they''re pretty. They look kinda dark until the sun hits them and then they are a beautiful blue.

gecko - it''s so funny how most people are clueless about jewelry in general. Oh well...

the stones are 4mm each and the bezel is so thin that I''d guess they don''t even add a mm to that measurement. so maybe 5mm total at the most. They really are a nice size - they''ll be good for my second holes too. If the sun EVER comes out here I''ll take some more photos!
