There are several basic types of lightboxes - some have a hole in the top for your camera lens. You can certainly make your own or improvise - you just want whatever you''re photographing to be in filtered light, not direct light.

That''s really interesting and it''s illuminating how some of the lightbox photos look clearer and sharper but then (for the gold earrings for example), the intricate goldwork is highlighted in the normal lighting.

I bought a lightbox recently and I''m not sure that I like the photos. The diamonds look dead. However, the detail is excellent!
