pink halo settings for princess cut diamond

I have a 2 carat princess cut diamond and want a pink halo setting. Does anyone have any suggestions of a designer or website who makes them? I spoke to Leon Mege and love his rings but he prefers not to work with princess cut in halo settings. I don't want to trade in my engagement diamond but am unsure I can find a designer who does a pink halo around a princess cut diamond.

Have you tried Victor Canera, Maytal Hannah, and Diamonds by Lauren? All make beautiful pink diamond halos- not sure about the issue with it being a princess cut- you'd just need to talk with them.

The pink diamond melee he uses are very great quality and the workmanship is awesome....(I am a bit partial,since I have a pear shape with a pink halo that I adore!)

Thank you so much for all your help! I am checking all those designers that were suggested and am really excited. I have had the diamond for 3 years and just haven't found a setting I like until I saw pink halos which I absolutely love. Again thanks for all the guidance.

Also if you look at pearlmans they have several halos right now with pink diamonds. I believe they are about the same price of a leon and look STUNNING!

Did Leon specify why he didn't want the project? Did he say he prefers not to work on halos for princesses at all, or your princess specifically? Did he elaborate on why he doesn't think it's a good idea?

I ask for a couple of reasons... Leon is a master of a specific aesthetic, and given that you requested his input it's an aesthetic that you're obviously drawn to. If the master of the look and feel you want isn't on board it's probably a good idea to try and find out exactly why - it could be Leon being crotchety, it wouldn't be the first time and we know he doesn't care for princesses - but perhaps there are other considerations/concerns that would be good to know about before going to another vendor.

Some vendors like DBL, SK, and VC seem more willing to compromise on strict definitions/parameters/judgments than others like Leon & RDG - which means that they're more open to experimentation w/ "riskier" pieces, in terms of both design and fabrication, but experimentation sometimes results in flops - it's the nature of the beast.

I wonder if this type of halo could be made to fit a princess. I dont love a lot of princess halos because they are so pointy. I like the rounded idea.

This is so well worded and spot on. I myself would love to know why Leon doesn`t like to halo a princess.

I have noticed that you dont often see princess stones haloed and I have never known why. Perhaps it`s due to the corners?

I think its because unless done well they arent flattering to the stone. They can get so pointy. That being said i think if done the right aay thay that's avoided

All of you were correct. Aesthetically princess cut are so straight and flat that they only easily accomodate a square halo which is very pointy and doesn't flatter the diamond as well as other pink halos do with other stones. Leon said that a princess cut looks better with a clear diamond halo and the other halo settings do not fit well around a princess stone.
Since I was drawn to the halos around the cushion diamond I think Leon felt that I would not be happy with the outcome of sqaure halo so I was hoping there were other suggestions for a princess cut with pink halo that was softer. Thank you nielseel for the pic of the pink halo that is softer because as I searched suggested websites I realized I do like a softer halo more than the sqaure halo. I was hoping I wouldn't have to trade in or get a new diamond to achieve that look.

I myself am always searching for the perfect `rounded/ roundish` halo princess setting (for my Mum). She also likes the Harry Winston look. So far she has decided it`s too risky to do as a design.

Well put. I know people have had their share of issues with LM, but I am not one of them. He executed what I was looking for exactly right, perhaps better than I expected. The man has an artist's eye for detail and proportions. If he doesn't think it will look good, I am inclined to follow suit and would strongly consider getting another shape if you are 100% certain you want that particular setting style.

justginger, I totally agree with you that Leon is a true artist. He spent more than 1/2 hour on the phone with me discussing design possibilities after first evaluating what my ideal design would be regardless of the center stone. (I have attached a pic of my dream ring from his website - ring # r4725) Leon was realistic that I will never achieve that look with a princess cut stone. However, I figured that it never hurts to ask and see what else might be out there.
Another possibility that Leon offered was that I could trade in my princess stone and purchase a cushion halo ring instead, but I just hate to give up my engagement stone. I almost feel like I should wait until we can afford both and keep the princess stone for a necklace (maybe to pass down to our daughter later in life).
I so appreciate all the suggestions and help at this site. Thank you so much. I still have hope I might find a setting that I love as much as Leon's cushion setting!

Since you don't want to change your stone, I think there are still ways to get the softer more rounded effect. I would suggest trying 3 sided micropave (I believe also called Belgium pave) for the halo. I am not sure what your budget is but intense pink diamonds are really expensive .. an alternative might be to use pink sapphires.

If you really ask Leon to do it, he will do it as well. I have no issues with Leon and think his work is fantastic. I am really happy with my erring and my husband's wedding band from Leon.

DBL was recommended above but I want you to evaluate the pave work yourself before making a decision. I am not sure which of David's bench made this ring but it shows a lot of metal.

I just photoshopped that myself so i dont know how easy it would be to replicate. But depending on the rose gold, a 14 k or so metal would be very pink. (14k being pinker than 18k

I dont know how this could be done in just gold, but that tiffany Rubedo metal thats a mix of sterling silver and gold looks really really pink

That's a photoshopped image, right? The only way that setting could exist IRL is for the princess cut diamond to be set considerably higher than the halo, rather than being set in the halo... high enough that its girdle would be exposed in the profile. Modesty aside, I'm not sure that would be particularly attractive.

I'm only pointing that out to keep expectations in check. To put an octagonal halo around a princess cut diamond, you'd have to use much smaller melee stones than those shown in this image, or used mixed sizes of melee stones, or have considerably more metal showing in the corners.

One option for getting this look might be to use two rows of very small melee stones, using more pink diamonds in the inner row than the outer row. I'm not sure the pink color would show very well with such small stones, though.

The DBL ring you showed the picture of is one of his least costly benches. He has several he works with. His "uber" settings are beautiful and well executed. I have 2 DBL pieces and am very pleased with the quality of workmanship.

I agree I don't think you can go wrong with Steven. I'm having a ring made now by Steven that got alot of push back from other vendors. Steven was litterally the only one that didn't hestiate at all with the design. He said it could be done and I have fully faith he will execute it beautifully! I can't wait to see your finished piece if you do decide to go that way.
