New here. Looking for suggestions on a designer to create a ring similar to Tiffany's cushion Soleste ring with Pink Sapphire. Love this ring, but can't find the right color/size stone combo at Tiffany and not loving their prices. Hoping to be able to create a beautiful ring without haivng to pay for the brand name.

Here is the style I'm going for. http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=28830025&mcat=148204&cid=287466&search_params=s+5-p+13-c+287466-r+101424823-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

This is my first experience with custom work, so ill need a lot of hand holding and reassurance that the final product will live up to the original. I also would prefer to buy the center stone and setting from the same designer.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I would look into either Leon Mege or Diamonds by Lauren.

Have you seen Boom or Harriet's rings? They had custom rings done by Leon that are extremely similar tot he Soleste. Harriett's came out lovely but I believe Boom had some issues with Leon on hers. Some of the pics might not load because they were posted under an older version of PS.

Anyhow here is my opinion. You need to decide color and shape and measurement size of what you want. If you want a sapphire you must also decide what treatment is acceptable. if you are looking to keep costs down then I believe a heated sapphire is very doable. I would email several of the vendors in the vendor list pinned to the top of CS and see what they have in your size/ color/ price range. For the actual setting since it is pave I would only go with LM, SK or VC. Make sure they understand exactly what you want and have it all written down. You can tell in Boom's thread below she was disappointed in hers and LM was really unwilling to fix it so I would rather go with VC or SK. If you don't have that in your budget (setting will run around 4-6k pending on mm side of stone) I would then contact ERD for a cast halo as I think he does amazing cast/cad work.

Not about Boom's ring but you can see some photos of it:

I hope some of this was useful. I'm actually trying to create this ring myself with a tsav so feel free to page me if you need anything.

Thanks everyone! I've put a request for quote in with LM, VC and DBL. Hubby is still dead set on getting a Tiffany original, but in a round rather than cushion. We'll see who wins this battle, but either way I guess I win. Lol

I have seen the tiffanys one at the store on 5th ave. It was pretty, but honestly my issue is that the sapphire is at least heated (and possible other treatments) and I just don't think Tiffany should be selling colored stones at those prices unless they are 100% natural. Tiffanys just isn't what hey use to be in terms of quality. You might want to bring up the treatment point with your DH as that can really be a talking point. Personally I would rather have a non treated stone then a Tiffany.

I second that Tiffany is overpriced for the quality - the sapphire is most likely to be heated and the workmanship is poor these days. Even if you go with ERD, Leon, Steven, etc, you'll get a better product for far less than from Tiffany.

Tiffany says it is unenhanced. They also say it is a padparadscha though there is no lab report to substantiate these claims. As for the color it looks to be a grayish pink with a tinge of purple, quite unpad-like.
I wonder about your desire to have the stone sourced by the goldsmith. Im sure that can work fine, but you could also do well to source the stone separately. AT the least it could increase your options.

VL,
You are sharp eyed indeed with regards to T's claim of it being an unheated padparadscha. No proof given that it is unheated and it surely doesn't look orangish pink on my monitor. For that price, I'd want a full AGL prestige report!
