DH and I are going to Denver, CO next week.

We'll be there for 4 days (someone suggested Winter Park for skiing and snowmobiling, so we might be doing that for a day) and I'd love if you could give me some tips on:

1. nice hotels
2. good restaurants/bars
3. other things to do other than skiing and snowmobiling

We're not too much into museums (although this looks cool http://www.dmns.org/lizards-and-snakes), but we do enjoy sightseeing, comedy clubs, and definitely *love* good food and trendy restaurants and bars.

Would love your tips! I always get the most awesome insider tips from you when we travel somewhere.

When we went to Denver, I think my favorite thing that we did was a brewery/pub tour. We also went to a comedy club, went shopping in the Cherry Creek area, went to a Rockies game, and went hiking at the Rocky Mountain National Park. There was a little crepes place in the Cherry Creek area that was delish! I think it was called Crepes n' Crepes.

The hotel that we stayed at was The Curtis and we were happy with it. We got an unbelievable price through priceline too.

Its been a while since we went so my memory isn't the best but I'll post again if I think of anything else.

There are a lot of decent hotels do a search by star rating. I highly recommend breakfast at the Brown Palace and Lucille's. Other restaurants Zengo and Double Eagle Steakhouse. For shopping I recommend Cherry Creek Mall and shops nearby there. Driving up to Estes Park is a nice drive but you won't be able to drive over the top this time of year. If you go up towards Vail and Beaver Creek area there are nice little shops up there with some great restaurants. We had a divine dinner at the Chophouse in Beaver Creek. Try the Brie for an appetizer and carrot cake for dessert. If you wander towards Ft Collins try Charco Broiler for steak. Get the pepper steak and save room for peanut butter pie.

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco in Denver and really enjoyed it. The attached restaurant, Panzano, is tasty. We were also considering the Magnolia, so there are a few hotel options for you.

We really spent most of our time site seeing outdoors (went during the summer) so I don't really have suggestions for things to do, but we did head down to the Cherry Creek area that the others mentioned and it was nice, seemed like a newer trendy spot.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for all your suggestions! I'm starting to get excited about the trip! :appl:

I hear the weather there is wild - hot one day, cold the next...so I am so unsure about what I should pack! Sandals AND boots? I mean I know I want boots for when we go snowmobiling and stuff (I have a pair of waterproof Uggs I can wear) - but what about for walking around? It seems like I might want to have some closed shoes...

Yes, the weather can vary by day to day (and even hour to hour). It's actually been warmer than normal lately. The forecast for next week looks pretty good during the days - maybe around 70 to 80 degrees in the daytime. The winds can be chilly though and once the sun goes down it gets cold - maybe in the 40's. I would bring your boots, hats, gloves etc. if you are skiing or snow machining but for walking around in the day regular tennis shoes or sandals would be fine. Definitely bring a jacket in case you get cold. I've been wearing a fleece in the morning then don't put it on until about 8 at night.
