I''ve picked the RB, F - 1.1, now I have to decide on a setting. Looking at Brian Gavin''s Truth head - not sure of the band.

When looking around for ideas, one store said they don''t do a platinum head setting. You would have to sign off because the platinum is so maleable and there was a higher chance of losing the stone. Jewellers like to work in platinum because it is easier to work with.

If I chose white gold, how would the head be re-plated? I can''t mail it back to Brian very easily or cheaply from Canada.

First time post. Thanks for any help.

I was told by some that platinum was a better choice for a setting because of its malleability and strength - it is less likely to break under shearing force.

In reality, I think you''re unlikely to lose a stone from either a platinum or a white gold setting provided that it''s secure to begin with and you have the setting checked regularly.

why don''t you ask Brian what he recommends.
