Platinum Weddings

Well, I have to say that even though I find the show a bit on the "vulgar display of wealth" side, I am not trying to change the channel when the show is on!

It''s kind of like wedding ****...the same way that PS is diamond ****, lol. I confess to having a huge love for reality shows, especially ones like Platinum Weddings, Tiara Girls, Daddy''s Spoiled Little Girl, etc. But I don''t really feel envious, just kind of "OMG, that''s CRAZY!" I would love to know what these couples receive for wedding gifts...exotic animals, furs, cars, what???? I really love seeing the wedding cakes and the food they do, though...I think it was the Cuban couple who had a 7-tiered rolled fondant cake with Swarovski crystals--it really was gorgeous, but I wondered what happened to the crystals after they took it away to serve it. I could''ve used those for my cell phone, hee hee.

Oooh, I hope I get WE. As soon as I get home I''m going to see if I can Tivo it. (Pvr but same idea). I spotted it and bridezilla a couple of times on the tv at our rental house but fi put his foot down on watching it.

This is going to come under ''what he doesn''t know...''

TG we don''t live together quite yet, or I''d never be able to get away with stuff like that!

The russian couple who got married gave each person a mini gold faberge egg pendant necklace with diamonds....with 225 guests, at $100 per necklace, she spent $22,500 just on the FAVORS. The show is so over the top...but fun to watch.

I love the show!!! I want to be invited to some wedding gave each person WF''s stuff!! haha

I dunno, I''ve learned that a lot of the prices you see reported in the press are wildly inflated.

Regardless, you can get pretty much the same wedding for about 5% of the cost. Just skip the name brand stuff. What orchid is actually worth that much? $85K for an orchestra? Find a local college with a music dept and talk to the students (or put an ad up). You can get awesome musicians for a few bucks and sometimes free. Wedding music''s not that hard. I played in a high school band that won awards and even got to travel to other countries to play. College people in a music dept are WAAAYYY better than we were. More than enough to sound awesome at a wedding.

haha, yeah. I was just saying that for the benefit of most of the PS family who I suspect are the budget type. However, I''m still convinced that those weddings didn''t cost nearly what they bragged about. I''m sure a lot of prices got inflated, especially when told a film crew would be around.
