dreamer and yssie- the picture i linked you to was just for the way i wanted the upper bezel to look, not the whole ring.. wouldn't it make sense that if that stone is large and the bezel is thin, that a smaller stone's bezel would be thinner since it is downscaled?

No, for the reasons we gave -- the bezel serves a function and needs a certain width, and the diamonds necessitate a certain width too.

Call Leon and talk to him. All this is spinning wheels unless you actually hear what he says.

I haven't been able to post for a few days but I caught up on this today at work. I think you should raise it so that the bottom of the stone is visible from the side while wearing a band like Dreamer suggests. That was something that I asked for when my stone was set when we purchased the ring. The way my stone is cut, there's a whole lot of little facets that are really pretty when the light hits them, and I didn't want those covered up. I also kind of like that the higher the stone is set, the bigger it appears :)

I will have to agree that the size of the stone makes a huge difference in how the finished ring looks. I have the classic solitaire with a 1.6 ct. stone and it is pretty low, also. I tried on Harriet's 3.5+ ct, Leon solitaire last year and a stone that large still looks plenty big when set very low! I think the classic setting looks best for 1.5 cts. and up. I think smaller stones do need to be set a bit higher. I'm just not sure what yours would look like raised. You might want to take a look at the side view of the Vatche Caroline setting which is on the WhiteFlash site. It has the diamonds on the side bar as well and maybe you can get a sense of the proportions because the photos look like they have about a 1 ct. stone. Hope you can get it fixed to your satisfaction!
