Please don't judge me, but I need advice!

Hi Jazzoboe, thanks for your story! I never brought it up again with him, but for sure if this happens again, I will want to figure out what's going on. Your story included a lot of advice that I'm going to keep in mind. I'm so glad you were able to talk to him about it and work things out.

This has nothing to do with jewelry, but we were talking about taking a minibreak somewhere after my board exams. Our vacations almost never overlap but in the first week of May, neither of us have school or work. I brought up going somewhere before I start my third year rotations and he thought it was a great idea. I mentioned keeping our budget small since I'm living off loans, and he offered to pay for the trip. We're looking at a few days in DC which wouldn't break the bank but would still be a nice little getaway. It would also give me the opportunity to see some friends and my boyfriend is always wanting to meet my friends. I'm definitely going to be very sensitive about the budget for the trip and also see if he keeps his word on this. I hate feeling like this is some kind of test, but I think it'll say a lot about his character and whether he takes what he says seriously.

Another little silly thing: he said he'd take me to see Titanic in 3D... we'll see if THAT happens!

Thanks Audball! My friend from school is desperately trying to get her boyfriend to go with her, but he won't budge lol. We'll probably try to see it sometime next week.

In the meantime, may I present these:



We were out mainly to look at a macbook for my boyfriend, but on a whim stopped by a local jewelry store to try to make up for the last time we tried to go jewelry shopping together (turned out to be a disaster, but we worked it out). I had no intention of walking out with anything and thought it would be nice to try again and have neither of us freak out. This time went MUCH more smoothly and my bf asked me to try on two pieces - one gigantic kite-set asscher cut blue topaz pendant, and these earrings. I liked the pendant but it seemed a little bold for me, HUGE on my neck, and cost more than a pretty shiny penny. He offered to get the pendant but I was like, this costs wayyy too much. Then he had me try on the earrings, and I liked these much better, and my boyfriend said, "I would happily get these for you." I was absolutely shocked, wondering if this was some kind of test, and he said this is something he wanted to do for me. I kept asking if he was sure that he wanted to do this, and he said yes. It was so incredibly sweet of him!!! Before I knew it, the salesman gave me the other earring. The folks there were so nice, and were not pressuring at all. They were so cute too, saying "congratulations" and one woman came up to look at my ears because she wanted to know what I had gotten. This picture was taken from my phone, but if I have time I'll try to get better shots and post them in the colored stone forum. I have no idea what the stats are except they are 14kt white gold and natural amethyst stones with natural diamond stone halo.

Love the earrings and so glad it was a successful trip. Made the other experience melt into the background and you have both learned and grown from it!
Hmm...something blue...maybe these can work for the big day when it comes....

Thanks for the nice compliments everyone! I love wearing them, it's a great constant reminder that I have someone amazing in my life.

Maisie - we are still going away in May. He is taking me on a weekend trip to Bar Harbor, Maine with my dog in a couple weeks. We booked a great room right by the ocean and will be hiking, reading, and enjoying nature for a weekend. I can't wait! The DC trip was getting expensive, and he really wanted to go somewhere a little more relaxing.

We also saw Titanic in 3D last night! He actually enjoyed it, AND even got misty eyed when Rose jumped off the lifeboat and at the end of the movie. There were maybe 10 of us watching the movie, and these 2 obnoxious girls were cracking bad jokes when Rose and Jack had their mushy moments. So this one GUY watching the movie said, "could you stop with the f*cking whispering?!?!" it was AMAZING. I also just had to sing "My Heart Will Go On" to my bf during the movie credits.
