Hi everyone,

I need help to decide the bail style for my pendant.
I am going to work with DK to set my new pendant but I can’t decide which bail style I should go with.
Originally, I wanted to have no bail with sliding style pendant. Since I didn’t want the bezel or halo style, I assume no bail with sliding style was hard to achieve. So now I have 2 choices, petite bail or flat floating style bail.

The style of basket will be 4 prong showing in first attached photo. This was from Forevermark. I like it with minimum metal and showing most of the stone.
It was originally fixed chain style, but I like to play with my pendant so sliding style is a must.

Here goes the styles of bail I can’t decide. First 2 photos show the flat floating style bail. It will show a little when you wear it and will show more square on top side, but I like how that mimic floating style pendant. 3rd and 4th photos are the petite style bail, a small bail just enough to go through chain.
Last, I understand that modification on top side will be needed in order to put bail on it.

Any input is welcome! Thank you everyone.

I vote C- since you are doing custom I would opt for a 6 prong or maybe even 8 prong setting and then have the bail be sort of incorporated or hidden by the prongs?
I prefer the petite bail but it sort of looks like a wonky 5th prong on a 4 prong setting.

Could you tilt the pendant 1/4 turn so that a prong is at the top, then you could use the prong metal support as the bail but not actually have a bail? Here are some pics of the same thing (but with a princess cut), still four prongs, north/south, chain thru top.4FA9C566-E89F-4533-AF70-3E112313DB58.jpeg

I am a bit confused here. What do you mean you vote C? You mean 3rd photo? That’s petite style bail. What do you have photo for 6 prong incorporated with no bail? Thanks

Hi Ringo, thanks for the input. I did think about this style, but then I didn’t want prong in kite position and simple 4 prong style. Only because that will be very similar to my current pendant and I wanted to have something different.
very appreciate your inputs.

You offered A and B as options and I vote for neither of those, hence C- not any of the photos you posted. I think you can totally have the bails be hidden, either by prongs or behind the setting.

This is an 8 prong setting by DK that appears to slide since the necklace length is adjustable:

I would also ask DK if doing a hidden bail on the back of the setting is possible.
I would think he could do something with 2 hidden petite bails behind the prongs of a 4 prong setting if that is your preference.

I am scrolling through his IG but haven’t found exactly what I am talking about but knowing DK he would be able to do this.

Got your point! I do want the style that bail can be hidden like the 1st photo.

I actually think this style is fixed chain. You can see stone wouldn't slid to center at all.

The only hidden bail I can find is something like this. But in order to have this style, pendant can't have flat bottom, and I think this style might lead to flip.
