PLEASE HELP - e-ring reset and vendor selection

The other thing is - their cads really look terrible! Clunky, chunky, too much metal. They aren't reflective enough of the final ring - I was stunned to see how delicate and slender the ring was. Why can't everyone's cads be like this?? (This will be my next ring done with Erica, whenever I have enough funds for a pretty and tinted oec). Anyway have fun!

Absolutely keeping everything in writing so I have a record of my changes.

I was wondering if you knew what type of pave they're using? I know I have Miligrain but I wasn't sure if the melee was full cut, fishtail, V cut, etc. I want the melee to be tight with little space between each stone. My previous ring had too much space and it bothered me every time I looked at it. I want everything to sort of blend nicely together.

Also, you mentioned the prongs in the Vatche we're different. Would you mind explaining the difference? I absolutely don't want air between my stone and the halo and right now there looks to be some.

I'm also thinking if I do remove the stones from the donut that adding stones to the side might be nice. The below example illustrates this only with a a different basket. I'd like a little detail from the side which is why I added melee to the donut but given I will be wearing a band with the ring that might not be the best solution.

I think when the diamond melee are set in between sides (yours with milgrain), they are just bead-set pave. The diamonds will be full cut unless you specify otherwise, but that is by far the most common. Occasionally Victor or Singlestone will use single cuts, but that is not necessary or even wise in your ring, I don't think.

I would remove the diamonds from the doughnut, but I would not add them to the sides if you are putting diamonds on the struts. I think that would be a mistake.

Here's a Tiffany Legacy, perhaps the best known cushion halo. It has a different style of struts that you have, but you can see that the diamonds on the struts and then the smooth sides looks really good..at least to me!

Thanks diamondseeker2006. I fee like I'm learning something new everyday from this site. Everyone has been so helpful.

I originally planning to go with the traditional tiffany legacy setting with the hidden diamond but thought it looked too plain and I was also trying to change up the design a bit so it's not an exact replica.

That's a CAD of my ring from ERD that you posted last. The pavé on mine was bright set/ bead set. Mine was the same width: 2.2mm tapering to 1.8mm and it definitely looks more delicate in person than the CAD. I have done two custom projects with ERD and Chris does have some input as he's worked through other projects with customers so don't be afraid to ask him directly his opinion on xyz changes. I would also recommend talking on the phone as it does get things done more quickly and have him summarize or email him back to summarize the changes you discussed.

Pandabee your ring is beautiful and happy to hear you feel it's more delicate in person. My cads look chunky but I know that's just the way the rendering appear and not necessarily how the ring will appear. I'm thinking of doing the same width for my taper but only the opposite so the thickest part is near the center stone. Do you still find the thickest part of your band to feel delicate?

Thanks JLFG! I was a bit worried that 2.2 was going to be too thick and thought of asking to go thinner, but I trusted Chris' opinion and I do find that even the thickest part of the shank is quite delicate. The milgrain beading on the edge is extremely tiny also and I don't see any excess metal on the sides either.

MissBliss I know it doesn't appear to have gradual taper but I confirmed it indeed does. It's very subtle which is why is so difficult to see.

I appreciate your input but I don't think I'm back and forth in my decisions. Instead I view this site/forum as an opportunity to gather insight and perspective from others that have gone through the process once or more than once and seem to be very knowledgable on the subject. I've been very clear with my feedback and have made sure to consolidate any and all changes to avoid confusion or additional work. Again, this site/forum is my opportunity to gain outside perspective so I can move forward in a professional manner.

Thanks MissBliss and sorry for the response. Trying to accomplish way too many things today and I think you just caught me at an off moment. This site has helped me a ton and the more I learn the more I'm able to supply detailed feedback or questions.
