Dear Pricescope enthusiasts,

I have requested the reports on this RB stone for my best friend. The whole diamond process is overwhelming to her, but not to me because I hang out here! I have the GIA report but it is in Adobe and I cannot attach the file type in here. Does this stone look good in numbers so far? I am obtaining pics, the ideal scope image, and sarin reports, but this is all Renee at Whiteflash has given me so far! Also, under comments...it says "additional clouds are not shown". Why? When I look at the "picture" of the diamond on the report with the crytal, clouds...does this mean there are some clouds missing?

with the limited info you have so far, yes, there is potential with this one.

the ''additional'' clouds were not clarity graders, so they were not significant enough to note. if they had been plotted, the report would look like a mess of red marks and not any real indication of what would be seen.

why is your friend having something brought in?

Thank you so much for your response! I had Whiteflash "call in" three stones. I only have the GIA Report on the one. I''ll keep you posted!

I am learning the negative consequence of buying an internet diamond. I cannot compare stones without paying! Whiteflash says it costs $55 for each stone they don''t have in-house and have to "call in" in order for me to view pictures of the stone. If I don''t like the stone, I have to pay the $55. If I do like the stone, I am not charged. I want to view three of their stones. I just don''t want to pay $165 to choose which one I like best! If I get the GIA reports AND sarin reports on all three, would this be enough to at lease narrow the stones down to two? Please give your advice! Thanks again!

that is the reason i asked you above why you were having the diamond brought in. wf has a huge inventory of stones available ''in house'' that already have the information on them. there isn''t really any reason to bring in more diamonds unless you are extrememly limited by a narrow set of parameters.

Joey that''s hard to say if the reports are enough to narrow down the choices. Diamonds aren''t always about the #''s. However getting the numbers you can check their HCA scores, check out there depth, size of the table, etc.... This might be able to let you decide on 2 that WF could bring in house and check out, compare, and give you there opinions. Have you searched anything that they do have in house???

Believe it or not, Whiteflash only has 9 ideal RB stones in-house, 7 of which are under the $5,107 budget for the center stone. The clarity of all these stones are SI1-SI2. My friend says she can see the inclusions in SI stones and would like to stay in VS1-VS2. There are plenty of stones out of house with our specs and in our budget.

For instance, we are also interested in this stone...

Laser Inscription Registry GIA
Shape and Cutting Style ROUND BRILLIANT
Measurements 6.44-6.47x4.03mm
Weight 1.03ct
Proportions
Depth 62.4%
Table 59%
Culet NONE
Finish
Polish EXCELLENT
Symmetry EXCELLENT
Clarity Grade VS2
Color Grade H
Fluorescence NONE
$4,691

We cannot find comparable stones in-house. Are the ones they choose, even though SI1, "better"?

i understand that. BUT not all si stones are the same. there are definitely ''eye clean'' si stones out there. you are missing out on some amazing diamonds by ruling out all si diamonds.

deep and biggish table? what are you looking for exactly?

if you focus more on the cut quality instead of the clarity, you might find better contenders.

I''m searching the "Expert Selection" on Whiteflash. Are those all of their in-house diamonds? I will post one of their selections with all the specs. Let me know what you think. Thank you, Belle...so much!

Here''s the sarin report...

And finally, the GIA lab report...

you''re missing an important piece o'' information joey!

how about the idealscope image?

And the ideal scope image...

IS_GIA-14814933.jpg

Oops! There it is twice! You pulled it for me agen3civ? Thanks so much!

Belle, you said that 59% is a deep/biggish table for the 1.03 H, VS2 I mentioned earlier. What table % should I limit to and why?
33.gif

sorry to steal your thunder posting the idealscope image, i was just looking at the diamond you mentioned and was already there.
11.gif

I think your ideal table would be somewhere between 55-58, however i am not 100% on that. So belle, if i am wrong please correct me.

My ideal table is 55-56ish but I bought one with 57 table and it''s great
30.gif
. I guess it''s personal preference but from studying everything here I personally wouldn''t go above 58...but again that''s my personal preferece! Good luck.

ohmygosh that idealscope is puurrrrty
18.gif
it was worth posting twice!

62.4% depth is pushing the limits for me...that''s why i said the other stone was deep. a 59% table limits the range of crown and pavilion angles that work together to make a well cut stone. i would prefer to stay in the 54-58 range since there are more combinations that would work to make a nice stone.

Love the IS, but I am not liking the "slightly thick" girdle. You are losing some weight there. That would not be the determining factor for me, however, just something to keep in mind.

What color range are you looking at? My 1.04ct J, SI 1 that I just traded in was completely eye clean. You can ask Renee about it since I dealt with her when I traded it up for a bigger stone.

What about this one? I would ask if it is eye-clean. It's another ES stone:

Item Code: GIA-14814914
Price: $4,511.00
Report: GIA
Shape: Round Ideal Cut
Carat: 1.01
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Depth: 61.3
Table: 57
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown %: 14.8
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion %: 43.1
Girdle: Medium Faceted
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.44-6.47X3.96

I''ll check out the stone, Pebbles, that you suggested. This stone is for my best friend so I want her to have the best. Her standards are as follows: 1ct, Ideal cut, RB, H-I, VS1-VS2. This one isn''t listed on whiteflash, but I know they can get it. I asked them to "pull" mine from another vendor cause WF is so reputable. How does this one sound in numbers everyone?
31.gif

Shape: Round
Cut Grade: Ideal
Carat weight: 1.01
Color: I
Clarity: VS1

Depth %: 60.9
Table %: 56
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: TN-
Culet: N
Fluorescence: N
Measurements: 6.51x6.53x3.97

Oops! Sorry - didn''t see that your friend wanted to stay in the VS range.

What about this one at WF? Is she is really into clarity, can''t get much better than this.
2.gif
It is just under the 1ct mark (not sure how important that is to her) but since it is an ideal cut I doubt you would notice the difference in size. This one is also one of their ES stones:

Item Code: AGS-6747108
Price: $4,998.00
Report: AGS
Shape: Round Ideal Cut
Carat: 0.923
Color: I
Clarity: IF
Depth: 61.2
Table: 58.2
Crown Angle: 34.8
Crown %: 14.8
Pavilion Angle: 40.5
Pavilion %: 42.6
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick Faceted
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Culet: Pointed
Fluorescence: Negligible
Measurements: 6.21-6.24X3.82

The numbers on the one you just posted look OK so far. May be worth a look.

Are there ideal pavilion%/angles and crown%/angles for RBs that I should be looking for?
23.gif

Also, what are the ideal depth percentage ranges?

for a 1ct rb. i want it to be pretty close to 6.5mm.
