I saw this one on this site and it kind of looked cool

http://www.ajsgems.com/SPK/SPK-00155.htm

The shape would be super cool for a pendant... only... is that a large window in the middle of this particular stone? You could ask AJS - they seemed quite candide about their merchandise, and do not shy away from describing where their pictures may seem better than the stones are. If I am wrong, good for you!

Do you know ''Matatora'' -s necklace? She had it made at WF too. A version with an extra doze of diamond drops and finished with a drop shaped gem (could it be a fine drop pearl? - diamond cap of course).

Since you mentioned navy as the theme color, something like THIS comes to mind too.

Are brides still getting to wera ''something blue''for the big day?

Thinking of a ''diamond by the yard'' style chain instead ...

Does your luck girl like antiques? That''s a nice budget for an older piece, and there seem to be a lot out there...

Here''s just a few I found at one site (Fay Cullen) to give you an idea...

Sounds like you''ve got lots of help already, but I just wanted to say that''s so sweet that you are getting your fiancee such a thoughtful wedding gift. I know she will cherish it forever.

Her dress is what she calls candle light which is between white and ivory.. I talked to Lesley and Bob at WF and they said that the marquise diamonds would have to be specially cut so we decided to replace the marquise with round ACA diamonds to fit more in my budget... would the pear drop stone still look good with round diamonds or would a better shape drop stone go better.... Dose anybody know of any site where I might start looking for the colored stone... Also she said that her bridesmaids dresses are navy color.... I didnt want to ask to much about it cause she was starting to get suspicious !!!! Im thinking a pink might go better with the color of her dress and white gold for the necklace.
Hmmm...If she is anything like me (let''s hope not, I''m so picky

), there are many things to factor into this decision. First, it is apparent that she likes to wear necklaces, so that is good (I don''t so that would not be my "dream" wedding present). I would take into consideration the length she likes to wear and also the neckline of her dress. If this isn''t possible, try asking her mom or a bridesmaid that can keep quiet for hints or help you to get a present that works with it. Second, I would prefer an all-white (aka diamond) necklace unless I just LOVED a color and/or it was in the wedding. Blue might be a good choice for you since her bridesmaid''s dresses are navy. Do you have any idea of the color of the flowers? That may give you a clue too. Third, in the pictures, is she wearing heart necklaces? Although a special necklace for the day is a WONDERFUL idea, I know I''d prefer one that I can wear many times to appreciate. A heart shape might be an option for a pendant if that''s what she likes.

I can''t wait to see what you fine and decide to get for her-whatever it is, she is a lucky girl!!!

Wow! The one shown larger in the picture is such a darling! And the arrangement of round diamonds of different shapes should be easier to set up if wanted.

The description of the diamonds as ''H-L, VS-Pique'' (amply supported by the detaild pictures) does not sound extremely tempting, but the design surely is.

Have you considered a blue zircon for your pear drop? They''re natural stones, sparkly like diamonds, but much less expensive. They''re a bit fragile for a ring, but should do well in a necklace. They can be a wonderful bright sea-blue color that I think would be very nice with your girl''s eyes.

How about a diamonds by the yard necklace (or one similar to Matatora''s chain with the diamonds only in the front) with an irradiated blue diamond (or blue zircon as gliteratta suggested) drop? You should be able to do a very attractive one within your budget and it would be something unique that she can treasure for years.

Gemklctr... Thats sounds like that might be a good idea.... Can you find any pictures of something similiar to what your talking about.... Yes the colored stones dont have to be saphhires, but rather something nice looking.

Diachi ... yes I have thought about that as well... I would want her to be able to wear it on more than one ocasion as well and I think she would feel the same way. I do know that her dress is strapless and goes up to right above where her chest ends.

Signal, pretty sure we''ve got enough of her photos now.

LOL

I think you should go with blue. You already said that blue was her favorite color and like Ana pointed out, it can be her something blue for her wedding. You seem to know a lot about her dress.

Have you seen it?

Speaking of blue zircon...

LOL... I cant say.... indictments could be handed out on that one !!!!! No... She is being very protective from me seeing it... but it sure would make things a lot easier if I could see it. I just get little bit and pieces of info or what the FBI would say " A Clue" on what it looks like. Im thinking blue as well now... what do yall think of this idea... the necklace with the round diamonds all the way around and then is pendant in the center or maybe the pear with a halo around it.... I would be willing to fork out a little more if necessary.... I denfiately like that kind of blue color.

WOW valeria101 !!!!! That one hit the spot just right.... I love it. Can you make a pic of that but with the halo around it?

I really wish I would have won the Meaga Millions Lotto last night...

I like Val''s also!

I can try to paint a bezel (not quite asap - later today), but honestly wouldn't .. because the pear is such a beautiful blue pear and would rather see as much of it as possible without having a bezel darken it (which eventually happens). For a stone this large... I'd do an open back bezel - so that it doesn't end up weighing a ton or showing unsightly solid metal on the sides (like a box).

These are earrings allright, but this is the type of setting I was reffering to as 'open back bezel' (made up name):

Considering where andhow to have a bezel done, maybe you will find these interesting:

And something else - less common:

Ok I will go with your advice and leave it alone... Ya I like just how it was... Yes I am a CC Police officer... But Im a nice one !!!!!!

I think im going with Vals idea... I think it would look great and it is something that she can also wear on an everyday basis. I only wonder if the stone will actually be that color if I get it.... How big is a 7.62 carat stone anyway ???

Hi Signal 4,
emrose.gif

I think your idea to give your future wife a necklace to wear on the wedding day is so sweet!
face23.gif

I think it is very important to find out from her mom or bridesmaid like said above, to find out how busy the top half of the dress may be, and also, the neckline. Some ladies bridal dresses are so busy, that adding a well intended necklace of love ... might either get lost, or look awkward.

Just remember .... less is more on the wedding day. You don't want the necklace to take center stage and overpower the "total" look. You will want everyone to focus on her beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes! You will want to find something delicate, something that is pretty, something that will compliment her ensemble.

Most women do prefer the "all" white look for their wedding day jewelry, whether it be diamonds ... pearls, or diamonds and pearls. Some do incorporate color into the jewelry for the day, but to me ... and this is just my personal opinion (I used to coordinate alot of weddings) "Less is more" ... stay with the same coloring of the day. You really notice when you look at pics when a piece of jewelry overpowers the person.

Man, your a sweetie alrignt ... I wish you the best for the future! Best wishes and good luck!
Take care,

IMO, the only way to tell is to take a look - which shouldn't be a problem with this seller's return policy. I know it is one of their finer blue zircons, and the best of the species would come close.

That near 8 cts probably sounds huge on a diamond forum, but ... it isn't much for a colored pendant.
The size listed (12 x 9mm roughly) is about as much as a finger tip

I've bought blue zircons from that place, and in real life they were pretty close to the color on the screen. That's a big stone, which might make it look darker, but zircons do nice, sparkly things with light. I bet it's gorgeous. If I remember correctly, they have a decent return policy if you don't like it when you see it. On the other hand, they're not very nearby--Thailand, I think.

The dimensions should be at the link Ana (Valeria) gave.

(oops, we were posting at the same time.)

Thanks for all the great advice... I will pass val's picture on to her mom and sister and see what they think and if it will take away from the over all look. They have seen the dress so they should know if it would go with it or not...

You see, for me that one is very serious and classic. It would have taken a few more butterfly shades to bring the look in the ''colorful'' range.

In case your ladies are less inclined to everything colored (which is real'' easy considering where I stand!)...

this one refused to get attached to the prvious post...

That's a mighty fancy presentation of CZ...

There's allot like that. Colorless synthetic diamonds are not being manufactured. Fullstop. Fancy colored synthetics are (or were?) - the price is about the same as for near colorless natural diamonds. Chatham makes them, and maybe others. There have been a couple of questions posted about these stones recently.

I would surely ask twice about that one - not sure if costume jewelry is everyone's piece of pie... for a wedding.

Yes Val I tend to agree with you... They make it look to good to be true... I just wondered what every else thought incase there was something I didnt know about them and Im glad to see that were on the same thinking page !!!
