Hello Everyone - I have a marquise stone - not a great one in terms of color and clarity, but I recently had it re-cut and it turned out wonderfully. It is 1.24 ct, and probably a J-K color and I1 clarity. I will say that the clarity is made up of twinning wisps, and you really have to study the stone and have the right light to pick out even the slightest eye-visible wisp - basically an "eye-clean" I1 stone.

Anyway, I want to have it set into a pendant. It is approximately 11.5 x 5.75 mm, but I don't have the exact measurements in front of me. What I'm thinking is a 1" by 1" square with a raised outer edge pave stones are set around 1" square with the marquise in prongs in the middle of the square. But, what I would really like are your ideas or pictures. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. However, I don't want to break the bank with this because of overall value of the stone, i.e., I don't want the mounting value to greatly exceed the value of the marquise.

Thanks in advance!

If you went with that idea, I'd be inclined to have the 1" exterior square set "on point" - also known as "kite set" where the corners run NSEW.

Alternative to the pave, could be a matte finish or brushed metal on the flat face up surface but highly polished on the sides. Just ideas!

Or --- put very small melee stones only on the corners! ooh - I like that idea!
