I am looking for a ring to propose to my girlfriend with soon and her only requirements are that she would prefer an Asscher cut diamond. From browsing around blindly for a few months I have deiced that I need to make a decision and I have found a ring which I think is very pretty but my problem is that I don't know anything about jewellery and especially how much things are worth. The specs of the ring are:

Main Diamond:

SQUARE EMERALD CUT

Measurements: 5.42 x 5.36 x 3.74 mm
Carat Weight: 0.92 carat
Color Grade: F
Clarity Grade: VVS1

PROPORTIONS

Depth: 69.8%
Table: 54%
Girdle: Thick
Culet: None

FINISH

Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None

SETTING

Platinum Channel Set Princess Cut 1/4 ct setting from blue nile ($1650).

Could anyone help me get an idea of how much I should be expecting to pay for something like this?

I also have some pictures if that would help but they are not the best quality as I took them on my phone:

About 4-7K for the center? 1.5-3 for a settting?

From the photos, the ring shown is bead set (Blue Nile might call it pave') round diamonds. This is a little bit different from channel set princess cuts in your description. I am not sure if you know the difference, just want to make sure you get the style you are looking for.

Thanks, from my limited research I was going to try and get it for 7.5k and see where it went so it seems I was in the right ball park. My only concern was the table size which is small but it looked attractive so I didn't really understand what this meant?

I'm not really looking for a style in particular just something that looks nice and I like this ring in the flesh, but it's great to have the extra information about the true style of it, thanks

The table is the large flat top.

That picture is just an inspiration ring, or is it the ring+diamond you are considering?

Since you said you took these pictures with your cell phone, I'm assuming you can see the ring in person?

Are you able to take it and look at it in all sorts of lighting conditions? I would suggest looking at it outside and also in the different lighting conditions that you think your gf spends the most time in so you can see how this ring and stone will look in everyday life. I LOVE asschers, but I think they can be a difficult stone to pick.

Also, are you buying this ring second hand from someone you know? If so, I think you might be able to bargain the price, and not have to pay the full retail you might see on Blue Nile. Negotiating can be difficult or awkward if you are buying from a friend, but if this person was trying to sell or consign it another way they would get much less than they originally paid, so maybe you can meet somewhere in the middle and get a great deal!

Also, are you considering possibly looking for a different stone, or are you set on this one? Just wondering because PSers are great at finding awesome stones!
