Hi All,

I've narrowed it down a bit on my research... I think haha

Can you all help me with these stones:
https://www.pricescope.com/diamond-search-results/2289883

Most likely are:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2826015.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2835507.htm ( I think this one more? )

What are your thoughts on them.
I am not good at reading ASET.

I don't see HCA ratings, is that something you have to request from WF?

Do you recommend something else that is comparable in price?
If I can increase ct. size without ruining eye cleanliness or increasing price I'd be happy with that as well.

I am looking to put this in a simple solitare ring that is white gold.
Also, is there a way to tell if it is 2 chevron (bold) vs 3 chevron?

Thanks!

HCA is only for rounds.

For ACAs the pictures on some of these dont look very good. Like this one. The faceting pattern doesnt look the same in all
quadrants (probably just the pics but I cant get over the look). This would be a no for me.
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2803921.htm

The first one has a nice faceting pattern (its one of the more busier ones) but I'm not fond of the table. Its just too square.
I perfer my tables to be angled. I know that is kind of picky...anyway, this one would not be the one (for me).

The second one has a nicely angled smaller table (checks that box) but the faceting pattern is difficult to pick out. This
one would still be in the running for me.

The thrid one...cant see pass the bad picture so a no-go in my book unless they can provide you with a better pic.

The forth one has a nice angled smaller table and a nice faceting pattern. This would probably be my top choice.

In reality they are probably all nice stones and all the above I just went over is pretty nit-picky.

Call WF and ask the gemologist to tell you what they see. Ask for their recommendation. Try to figure out what you
like to see in a princess cut. Do you like to see lots of little flashes or do you like to see some bigger flashes? How do
you like your tables to look? Hopefully you'll get some more input from other PSers.

For some reason I couldn't see all the stones in your search comparison, only the ones linked individually, but I agree with tyty assessment of the ones I could see. If you were interested, you could drop color and clarity to G VS2 or eye clean SI1 and increase weight. There is a significant cost increase in the colorless range and yet most people can't differentiate the slight color difference between the two, especially once the stone is set.

Thanks Tyty,

Their gemologist said the same thing as you, he did not like the SI1 either.

and

Are apparently VERY similar in person and they said I would likely get the performace that I am looking for.

I prefer the large flashes versus lots of little ones. I'm not sure how to determine that based on pictures.

I'm going to a local jeweler today to look at some lower clarity/colour stones to get an idea if it's worth going with something lower in these options in order to obtain a larger stone.
My setting will be a 14k white gold solitaire.

Thanks for your input. If you have any other suggestions - between the two above, or other stones in this ballpark I would take any advice.

Thanks!

That is how WF does it.

I would go with the F SI1, the price difference is a fair amount and it should compare favorably in appearance.

I do not have a preference no.

I've just researched myself into a deadlock and now I'm lost on pulling the trigger on a diamond.

I almost bought an EGL stone that my local jeweler brought in.
2975 for a .72 carat E si1 ex/vg
it compared favorably to the gia ex/ex he had in the store for 4200 that was an E VS2 for 4200.
I intially was 100% staying away from EGL stones, but they ran their own appraisal of it and said EGL was on the money with their specs. He said the cut is impeccable, one of the best he's seen.

I basically was going to buy the EGL one, but just had second thoughts and decided to come back to pricescope ahah.

That BGS stone looks pretty good too.

How do you decide between these stones online?
When all the stats are relatively similar?

Is it just a buy and hope for the best and be happy?

You will definitely be happy with either.

It is a big difference in price... price out the total with the setting (don't forget the 10% off) and then see which one is cheaper.

I think I will be getting the setting made in town here.

So I am just looking for the diamond.

I will go with the BGD stone.

Thanks for your advice.

By all means, have the diamond vendor set your stone!!! A local jeweler is not going to cover your diamond if it is damaged during setting, and princess stones are about the most vulnerable of all diamonds due to the corners. So if you are buying from BG, buy their solitaire setting and let them set it!

I like these ones from WF and thing they a lovely stones.....

and
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2835507.htm
and I dont think there is much between them

But if it was my money I would buy the BGD one and pocket the $1500 difference.

The stone is pretty much the same size and looks very nice. For the money you are getting the best value imho.

***BUT I would recommend you ask Brian to take a personal look at it to ensure it is eye clean before buying it.***

Also I second the opinion of diamondseeker of having BGD set your diamond. There is always a risk when having the stone set by someone other than the diamond seller. If it cracks, is damaged or lost in transit (unlikely tho it may be) you will be footing the bill. Also you never know how many princesses you local seller had set before- he may not be that confident with them. BGD does beautiful settings and comes well recommended by many PSers. Take our advice and get your diamond set with the same person for added safety.

Brian is not in right now, but they've had their production manager look at it and he apparently has the best eyes there.

They are unable to see anything from top or sides, so it is completely eye clean.

I've decided to order the diamond from BGD.

Unfortunately, I am unable to get the setting done there as I am planning on asking my gf to marry me next Saturday. I do not have time to get a setting complete. So, I will have to do this after I propose. Hopefully she's okay with just a stone :)

I plan on getting insurance first in order to make sure I am protected if the jeweler manages to break something.

This is the one I am going with. Seems like a good deal to me.

It has crystal, cloud, needle, and feather listed in the report... so that kind of makes me worry, but as long as it's eye clean then I am happy.

Good luck & best wishes! Let us know how everything goes!! :wavey:
