Please help to value the ring

Are you over the moon with it? In terms of cut, the stone is very flat (almost no sparkle) to save weight. Colour is also a bit dark. That said, given these and the asking price, it’s not terribly overpriced. So buy it if you love it, not because it’s a deal or anything like that. Check it out under various light conditions to be sure you still love it.

Thanks for reply, Chrono!
To be honest, I like the ring.
How much would you value it?

If he offered $20K and you love it, it’s a fair price.

That ring is the definition of a statement piece............please come back after proposing with more pic's of it on your loved one's hand! Congrat's!

Another important point!!!

You said it’s to be an engagement ring, which this doesn’t look like one. You’re 100% sure about it?

Secondly, she’ll have to wear her wedding band on the other hand due to the design.

I think that ring is jaw droppingly beautiful.
It’s a show stopper.
If people don’t come running over from the other side of the room to your fiancé and say “OMG, your ring, it is TO DIE FOR” I’ll give up owning jewellery!
Origin does matter to some people, just as shape or tone or even size. If everyone had the same taste, what a boring world it would be.
For $20,000 in that size, that colour and setting is it well worth that money.
While top colour, transparent unheated rubies from Burma are the holy grail, in sizes over 5 carats you can be talking in excess of $100,000 a carat. Given that you couldn’t get that setting made for less than $4,000, you are paying less than $3,200 a carat.
Sounds like a great price to me.

Thank you all for your comments! Regarding the wedding band. We wear it on the right hand where I come from - so its fine.
Regarding the design - i want the ring to look not like banal classic design. With this one she can go out, wear it every day if she wants, it fits quite secure on the fingure. Maybe its a bit casual, and doesnt look like standard ring, but thats what i like about it. Adding to that my gf is a creative person, so proposing with standard ring is not a bebefit. ;)2
That was hell of a week! im about to collect it next week. I will definitely post some pictures to you guys!

That’s a great ring for a creative person! I hear you about not wanting the same old, same old engagement ring.

The ring is not casual at all to me, it is divine and makes a statement. Very chic!

More photos please!

Hi Ztte272, I also think that you did well in making the purchase. :rolleyes2: I hope she loves it!

(Sorry I was traveling and could not reply back earlier, but I am not any more of an expert than the ladies who already gave you their opinions. I just based my estimate from looking all over the web to pick out a ruby engagement ring for myself a few months back; my fiancee involved me in the search because he wanted to make sure I found something I would wear every day.)

great buy. congrats! it takes courage to pull the trigger on such items.
