Hi there!

I recently placed a deposit on a diamond with a local jeweler while shopping for engagement rings with my partner. It was a nice stone - round brilliant, 1.31 carats, G, VS1, GIA Excellent Cut (Diamond A). To be honest, I felt a bit overwhelmed with all the options and the push to put a diamond on hold, and so I felt a little doubtful when I got home.

I found another diamond on the jeweler's site (Diamond B) that they are willing to show me this weekend side-by-side with the one I already picked (it was shipped in this week). I'm concerned since Diamond B is the exact same price as Diamond A, but the proportions and clarity look better to me. As a total newbie, I want to make sure I'm not missing something that may make Diamond B a poor option.

The jeweler removed the info for Diamond A from their site, but I do have the info for Diamond B. I'm hoping for an objective opinion on the stone, without the sales spin. The only video I have is on the jeweler's site or imgur, which I don't think I can link to - but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Any insight would be very greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, LolaBean12!
The numbers on the report look great, but there's no way to assess the grown diamond crystal quality or finer details of cut precision without pictures, videos, and/or a 360 rotational view.

Hi DejaWiz -

Thank you so much for the welcome and for responding!

Unfortunately it's only a 180-degree view for some reason, and of course I can't find the diamond on loupe360.

If I'm allowed to link to the jeweler's site, happy to do that as well.

The cut precision appears to be just fine in that video, it it is hard to determine the growth method (CVD or HPHT) and quality of the diamond crystal without a full 360° video.

Completely understandable - I wish I had a full 360, but alas!

Thank you so much for looking and providing the insight. I really appreciate it!
